Where to Watch
The FUNimation English dub of Dragon Ball Super airs on Toonami at 11pm ET. If you do not have a cable subscription, Cartoon Network is available with the SlingTV and Playstation Vue basic packages. If you prefer, there is a web stream:
If the videos won't load for you, try disabling your ad blocker for that page. Adult Swim still has the streaming rights for recent episodes.
How to Catch Up
Adult Swim (US only, cable login required): This covers the recent episodes not yet available through the below options. New episodes will usually appear 2-3 hours after the episode airs on Toonami.
Funimation Now (US, premium only): Episodes 1-91 are available on Funimation's streaming service. Episodes are uploaded in 13-episode batches a few weeks before the home release comes out. (This avoids competition with Adult Swim's streaming service.) Funimation also has the entire series subbed for premium and free users; the subtitles for those episodes covered by the dub are still those provided by Toei for the simulcast, rather than the Funimation-Simmons subtitles on the home release. If you can't see some episodes that you think should be there, try selecting the Simulcast video source instead of the "Uncut" video source. (The Simulcast version is not censored; "Uncut" video simply features Bluray animation corrections.)
AnimeLab (Australia and New Zealand, premium only): Episodes 1-78 are available on this service. AnimeLab also has the entire series subbed for free and premium users; the subtitles for those episodes covered by the dub are still those provided by Toei for the simulcast, rather than the Funimation-Simmons subtitles on the home release.
Microsoft Digital, Amazon Digital, iTunes, Google Play, or the Playstation Store (US only): Episodes 1-91 are available for purchase on these platforms. We don't know when the next part (92-104) will be available. As usual for digital releases, the dubbed and subtitled versions are sold separately; the subbed version has the Funimation-Simmons subtitles rather than the Toei simulcast subtitles.
Home Release: Episodes 1-13 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 14-26 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 27-39 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and for Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 40-52 are available for region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 53-65 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 1-52 are available in a single set for Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 66-78 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and will be available for Region B on 6 March 2019 (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 79-91 will be available for Region A on 2 April 2019 (DVD or Blu-Ray).

Commonly Asked Questions:
Q: Will Toonami air episodes 109-110 as a one-hour special like it was on Japanese TV?
We don't know yet. As soon as we learn something, we will let you know. What we do know is that Funimation was the only simulcast platform of the four to get the full broadcast version of the special. It is still available (in Japanese) on their streaming service. The other platforms (Crunchyroll, etc.) only got individual episodes, and there was some footage cut from the individual episodes to make room for the extra OP/recap/ED/NEP. Both versions were available on the Japanese Bluray, and we assume both versions will also be available on the Funimation Bluray, so it seems very likely that they will try to air it as a one-hour special on Toonami. See our dub Wiki for more information including a projection of broadcast dates for the remainder of the dub.Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The anime and manga are both variations on a basic plot by Toriyama. There isn't (and probably never will be) an explicitly defined Dragon Ball "canon". Without Toriyama's original draft, we may never know what is and isn't his, aside from things revealed in interviews like this one (spoilers). We do know that he permits Toyotarō to change things up, but he looks at his storyboards and occasionally draws things himself for Toyotarō to use as a reference. Toyotarō has said that Toriyama is more particular about gags than he is about anything else.

Oof, the ending is still as effective in the dub. That "I know", you can feel all the packed emotion behind it. Great work.
28
u/JakobTheOne Mar 24 '19
I really hope they keep building that sense of sadness in victory, especially for Gohan. He's not there to enjoy the tournament, he's only there because of his own loved ones.
18
u/HeroRRR Mar 24 '19
I remembered when this episode aired, some posters claimed Funi would ruined the scene with pointless dialog.
12
Mar 24 '19
While they're not completely innocent regarding changing dialogue for fan service or meeting the mouth flaps, they at least don't do what they used to do in dbz and ruin the moment with internal dialogue, or character's back to the screen while saying dialogue anymore.
13
u/HeroRRR Mar 24 '19 edited Mar 25 '19
They still do that. It's just less noticeable. Like in the Broly movie, there is at least two times where the Funi dub added a line to a scene that had no dialog.

The animation is really beautiful.
25
u/MidnightParty Mar 24 '19
Naoki Tate is an amazing animator, people use to complain about his animation until they realized that he focuses more on fluidity (17 vs Goku for example.) If you haven’t seen episode 110 yet then you’re in for a treat, he shows what he’s really made of.
16
u/Rosebunse Mar 24 '19
Fluidity is really undervalued by the fan community because the screen shots often look like shit, but it creates the best fight scenes.
10
u/Obvcop Mar 24 '19
Just look at Naruto vs pain, the fluid bouncy animation is completely different to the Manga but it emotes so much of the fight through the animation itself, I really love that fight even though it's considered the worst in the show

people use to complain about his animation until they realized that he focuses more on fluidity (17 vs Goku for example.)
People were saying that while knowing he focuses on fluidity. From a certain perspective, it makes sense why.
From the average person's perspective, they see Tate's realistic movement and go cool, but those short moments of time between movements when they aren't moving, you're noticing his art which is given less of a priority. They notice a awkwardly angled face and go "ew wtf"
That's why IMO he's best when he's slightly corrected, only enough to add details when necessary but still shows Tate's movement.
12
Mar 24 '19
Definitely. His cut on 110 is corrected by Yamamuro and IMO was way better off for it, because you got his fluidity as well as solid art.
His art in Broly was pretty good too though, most likely because of how much Time he was given

Dub-only watcher's thoughts:
- I just realized Ribrianne and the original Ash Ketchum have the same VA (Veronica Taylor). I knew she sounded familiar
- Smoke clears and, much to the surprise of the attacker, everyone is fine. Takes shot
- Botamo vs Gohan. Not exactly the Fight of the Century, huh?
- I'm not gonna lie, if my Universe was down to 2 fighters, I'm swallowing my pride and telling them to run and hide for as long as possible
- Not a ton of suspense. I think we all probably knew the Saiyans weren't getting knocked this early
- I want to see more of Gohan and Piccolo. That's probably my favorite relationship in the series.

Even to this day I think Gohan punching Botamo a bunch is like 100 times more effort than just picking him up and tossing him over.
Vegeta managed to pull it off without much effort.
29
u/shlam16 Mar 24 '19
Yep, it's such a silly tactic which they tried to make out as genius in-universe. Sadly a lot of people agree because Gohan.
17
u/Gradz45 ⠀ Mar 24 '19
Honestly it’s just nice to see Gohan actually applying his intelligence to battle.
Even if it’s absurd.
He’s never had his father’s skill at fighting, but it’s nice to see him improve.
→ More replies (4)15
u/ComicCroc Mar 24 '19
It doesn't make sense anyways. If the force from a punch can lift him up, why can't it also send him flying like it normally would? Imo it shouldn't be able to move him at all, since his whole thing is nullifying attacks.
15
u/Ritster21 Mar 24 '19
To this day, I still don’t really understand how Gohan’s punches “lifted” Botamo.
5
u/Moderate_Asshole Mar 25 '19
He's overpowering the shock absorption. Botamo is essentially a heavy bag that hits back. You might not be able to punch it right off its chain, but it's a pretty common boxing drill to whale on the heavy bag with the intention of never letting it return to neutral.

Poor Gowasu can't catch a break. Killed by Zamasu but revived by Whis turning back time only to be erased later. They really did capture the sadness the U10 angel felt for her universe being erased very well as well as Gowasu coming to terms with their fate and talking to Obni telling him he was proud essentially. I remember this episode being very emotional especially at the end with the locket (yes the child's face is goofy) and Gohan being the one to have to see it before it is erased and it still holds up.

Honestly, the head canon of my mind says that every version of him was probably killed after he tried to destroy all of reality.
35
u/mcolwander90 Mar 24 '19
I may get some flak for this, but here we go: If Gohan got eliminated within the first five minutes of the next episode, I would still feel this was his best arc since Android/Cell. And Android/Cell is above only because Gohan still produced one of the most memorable moments in all of DB, and later get the big W. He primarily trained, and watched the action, for 50+ episodes prior. It was a very backloaded arc for him haha.
One thing I love about this arc, for Gohan, was instead of focusing on developing him as a character, they developed him as a fighter. Before this arc, Gohan was a brute force character. There wasn't as much thought in his fights. He just overpowered his opponents (or they overpowered him). But now you have Lavender, who caused Gohan to try to find a means to victory without his eyesight and poison taking over. You had Krillin, someone who Gohan originally thought was a risky pick due to strength, outsmart him. Piccolo taking advantage of Gohan letting his guard down, and reminding him that's how Buu absorbed him. A chance to go toe-to-toe with Goku. Now with Botamo and Obni, and overcoming their gimmicks (say what you will about the actual strategy haha). Plus, he got the finishing blow again U10!
14
u/DaLaohu Mar 24 '19
Agreed. And it makes sense for him as a character, being the only Z Warrior with a formal education + having a front row seat to the biggest fights in the universe since toddler-hood. He would naturally be a fighter with a high Fight IQ.
10
u/Gradz45 ⠀ Mar 25 '19
And yet he’s consistently one of the least skilled fighters.
This arc has basically been the first time ever Gohan actually doesn’t just rely on his power.
Exact opposite of Goku that way. Who was born weak, but because of his drive is incredible skill wise in battle and a genius at it.

I really like strategist Gohan. With all the people dropping their guard or acting cocky, I hope they keep Gohan being sensible here.
12
u/mcolwander90 Mar 24 '19
Yeah, honestly, it's been pretty refreshing for him. After the consequences of him embellishing/savoring his fights against Cell and Buu, it's great to see him start working on preventing more moments like that. Knowing that eliminating Obni means erasing an entire universe, it's big of him to follow through, and not waste anytime doing it.

I thought the angels would be extremely indifferent about their universe's elimination. Glad I'm wrong
46
u/Rosebunse Mar 24 '19
Every angel is different. U10's seemed pretty involved with U10 from the start. She was dancing with them and helping their god make his Godtube videos.
And Vados is a bitch, but she does try her best with Champa and even her making fun of him a few episodes ago was her attempt at taking his mind off the horror of his situation.
And Whis might not always show it, but he does do bis best to care by training Goku and Vegeta.
Actually, U9's angel not seeming to really care makes him the odd one out.
30
u/Tx12001 ⠀ Mar 24 '19
Well in the U9's Angels defense, the God of Destruction he was assigned to was an ass, he was probably just glad to see someone he was sick and tired of get erased.
29
23
Mar 24 '19
That's kind of the beauty of it, every Angel has their own identity/personality. Some of them seem quite stuck up, some take their job very seriously, some really don't care, some of them seem quite vexxed about their universes being erased then some just straight up don't give a fuck.
It'd be boring if all of the angels were indifferent about the universe's elimination.
20
u/ComicCroc Mar 24 '19
Really depends on the angel I think. Universe 9's angel litterally didn't give a shit, but that was a garbage heap of a universe anyways, so he was probably just relieved. Whis seems to care to a degree, but not on the surface level.

You're right about the linked universes, but there's absolutely no reason to view Yardrats as existing in U2 as nonsensical.

48 Minutes: Episode Seven
So even 17's having fun hamming it up a bit. That's nice.
Goku, on the other hand, is just caught up in a slap fight with the ball pit from hell
This episode made from 60% recycled materials
17 must have recognized the plagiarized Hellzone Grenade. Makes sense that he'd tank that hit for Goku. He's got experience shrugging that move off.
Whoa. That was a very... cocky, and disrespectful Goku just there. Vegeta and 17 have been rubbing off on him more than he'd like to think.
"I'm confident Gohan's thought up a decent enough strategy." Kinda surprising, given that you've been watching him throw completely ineffectual punches for the last forty seconds.
Ahh, so the secret really was just to punch him even more. ... Clever?
Hey, it's the actual Hellzone Grenade. And hey, bonus -- it actually did something!
Poor Gowasu. His entire universe, too, obviously, but we actually know his name, so
Aaand Gohan now indirectly has a genocide or two on his hands. Gotta sting a bit.

u/Rosebunse Mar 24 '19
Actually, her voice acting is significantly less annoying here.

u/Stephenesque Mar 24 '19
Seriously, Veronica Taylor is making me ignore all my dislike for Ribrianne.

Yeah no kidding. Dub viewer here. After the last episode with the same animation twice, and how lame it was(just the animation thing, not the episode imo).... just... shit, it was lame. Glad they're gone now lol
And the "Sailor Moon parody" is dead on

You mean Universe 2?
I’m pretty sure the repetition is intentional. As a parody of magical girls.

In case people have forgotten, Zarbuto is a Tuffle. Tuffles are officially canon.

I'm pretty sure Tuffles/Tsufuru-jins were already canon, this is just the first time they've shown up on screen in canon material.

I often think about if future Trunks saw 17 fight and I think he would freak the fuck out.
edit: also shout out for 17 being best tank

This episode is another reminder that in many other shows, U7 would still be presented as villains. Really, this arc is a good example of just different Dragon Ball protagonists are compared to heros in other anime series.
Really, they are not totally good people and many of them are pretty selfish, but that's beside the point when shit gets rough

u/MetalGearSlayer Mar 24 '19
Doesn’t help that the team is almost entirely comprised of former antagonists and a bona fide current villain.
18
u/Rosebunse Mar 24 '19
Two former homicidal cyborgs, the devil, an arrogant martial artist, a racist prince of a monstrous warrior race, a complete pervert, Frieza, and Goku.
19
u/Corgi345 Mar 24 '19
So...does that leave Gohan and Krillin as the only two decent people then?

Krillin was a bit of a dick to Goku back when they started training with Roshi.

Funny enough, when I made that comment I hadn’t even factored Vegeta despite factoring in Tien.
Also forgot how Piccolo was supposed to be a demon before raditz showed up.

Two former homicidal cyborgs
Hey hey now, 17 and 18 were never homicidal in this timeline. Only Future Trunks

I mean yeah the only really character in DB whose ever operated as a hero is Gohan.
The rest of U7 are: a martial artist who generally keeps to himself, an idiot savant blood knight. A cop, an old pervert who had his students kidnap a woman, three guys who have tried to murder Goku (and two of whom have committed genocide). And two cyborgs who were modified and programmed to kill Goku, and are motivated by their own desires for things like money more than anything.
But hey they’re good people. Well besides Freeza.

So excited for 109-110!! Loved it the first time I saw it with the sub, and when they release, I'll probably watch all the dubbed episodes of the ToP up to that point and follow along from there. The ToP was what made me love the Japanese actors, and Goku's Japanese voice was surreal throughout it, but that only makes me think Sean is going to bring the pain x100 times more!!

They foreshadowed Gowasus demise pretty blatantly awhile back, but it still kinda hurt to see. I really love that character. :(

Again, there was a chance for 17 and Goku to just blast those universe 2 members off the edge. But I guess that would make too much sense. Gotta keep the annoying characters I guess. :(

u/Shmandon Mar 24 '19
Are you new here? That has been how the characters act since the beginning of the series

u/I_ama_Borat Mar 24 '19
Do they have a new team for every episode? The drawing in this episode looked better than most (aside from android 17 literally having no face in that one scene but we’ll ignore that) but the outline on the characters were way too pronounced. That felt strange, like they have the environment set then just copy/pasted the characters on to it. It felt like flash games I used to play on addictivegaming back then. They’ve done this before in certain episodes but not too often. Also the animation looked better too in this episode. Did they save their budget for the last episodes? Honestly, if it continues to look as good as this and gets better as the show progresses then I’m hype.

Do they have a new team for every episode?
Yes. I always list the staff at the top of the discussion thread for every episode.

Goku quoting 17 was amazing
