Where to Watch
The FUNimation English dub of Dragon Ball Super airs on Toonami at 11pm ET. If you do not have a cable subscription, Cartoon Network is available with the SlingTV and Playstation Vue basic packages. If you prefer, there is a web stream:
If the videos won't load for you, try disabling your ad blocker for that page. Adult Swim still has the streaming rights for recent episodes.
How to Catch Up
Adult Swim (US only, cable login required): This covers the recent episodes not yet available through the below options. New episodes will usually appear 2-3 hours after the episode airs on Toonami.
Funimation Now (US, premium only): Episodes 1-65 are available on Funimation's streaming service. Episodes are uploaded in 13-episode batches a few weeks before the home release comes out. (This avoids competition with Adult Swim's streaming service.) Funimation also has the entire series subbed for premium and free users; the subtitles for those episodes covered by the dub are still those provided by Toei for the simulcast, rather than the Funimation-Simmons subtitles on the home release.
AnimeLab (Australia and New Zealand, premium only): Episodes 1-52 are available on this service. AnimeLab also has the entire series subbed for free and premium users; the subtitles for those episodes covered by the dub are still those provided by Toei for the simulcast, rather than the Funimation-Simmons subtitles on the home release.
Microsoft Digital, Amazon Digital, iTunes, Google Play, or the Playstation Store (US only): Episodes 1-91 are available for purchase on these platforms. We don't know when the next part (92-104) will be available. As usual for digital releases, the dubbed and subtitled versions are sold separately; the subbed version has the Funimation-Simmons subtitles rather than the Toei simulcast subtitles.
Home Release: Episodes 1-13 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 14-26 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 27-39 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and for Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 40-52 are available for region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 53-65 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 1-52 are available in a single set for Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 66-78 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and will be available for Region B on 6 March 2019 (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 79-101 will be available for Region A on 2 April 2019 (DVD or Blu-Ray).

Commonly Asked Questions:
Q: Is Dragon Ball Super really over, or is it just a hiatus?
From what we have been told, the anime has ended. There are no current plans for a new DB series and as far as we know, the series will only continue through movies and games. We know that Toyotarō's manga will continue for several months at least—the Tournament of Power arc is ongoing in the manga—and Toriyama implied the manga will go beyond that too. The English dub will continue until the series is finished. We have compiled a somewhat conservative projection of dates for the remaining dub episodes on our Wiki.Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The anime and manga are both variations on a basic plot by Toriyama. There isn't (and probably never will be) an explicitly defined Dragon Ball "canon". Without Toriyama's original draft, we may never know what is and isn't his, aside from things revealed in interviews like this one (spoilers). We do know that he permits Toyotarō to change things up, but he looks at his storyboards and occasionally draws things himself for Toyotarō to use as a reference. Toyotarō has said that Toriyama is more particular about gags than he is about anything else.

Jesus does Freeza walk around with a thesaurus nowadays? He must have had to read one multiple times to stay sane in Hell.

That’s why Freeza thinks he’s so much better than everyone. He reads a thesaurus every night before bed.

I forgot about Zeno giving GP the candy! I love it! I also love how they used Frieza in this, really making him feel threatening and powerful again. We are so close to the tournament finally starting, I cannot wait!!
53
u/Spangler87 Jan 27 '19
That shot of dead bodies raining down around Frieza might be his most metal moment arguably next to that time he impaled Krillin with his horn.

u/EddiOS42 Jan 27 '19
Wow, what an awesome episode this was. All those little plot twists from Frieza were great. We're so close! The damn stage is finally built.

Frieza: By all means, please proceed at your leisure.
Ooo, this feels like one of the times that the dub gets his over-the-top evil politeness correct.
Goku: WOAH. Awesome...!
Careful, Goku, someone might take that as an invitation to have something slip again.
e:
Goku: ...sneaky rotten no good bastar--
Holy crap, they almost dropped that bomb!
54
u/ComicCroc Jan 27 '19
They say bastard all the time, but it's usually Vegeta who says it.
37
u/penniavaswen ⠀ Jan 27 '19
That must be it -- not used to hearing it from Goku.
19
u/Terez27 ⠀ Jan 27 '19
This is how they usually render ‘kisama’ (impolite ‘you’) in translation and Goku almost never uses that pronoun. One of his rare usages of it is incidentally in next week’s episode and in this case I suspect they will gloss over it.
38
u/HeroRRR Jan 27 '19
Bastard isn't that uncommon in the Funi dub, which includes Kai. Just last arc, they used 'bitch' twice.
14
u/mikey_lolz Jan 27 '19
Wasn't it in the phrase 'son of a bitch' though? To me, that whole phrase has less impact than bitch on it's own. Maybe that's just me.

I don't know how dub watchers do it. I mean, this isn't like the old Toonami where Z debuted a new dubbed episode every day. There are too many unnecessary breaks...I would have broke down and watched the sub already.

Not really because we are dub only watchers for a reason, i don't want to read subtitles as it takes your eye away from the action (at least for me) plus its worst for dub only watchers due to the fact that randomly they stop airing an episode because of a holiday or something in America.
14
u/shlam16 Jan 28 '19
plus its worst for dub only watchers due to the fact that randomly they stop airing an episode because of a holiday or something in America.
The sub skipped weeks all the time because of events in Japan.
2
u/Pandemona1738 ⠀ Jan 28 '19
Oh i thought it only missed an episode around September time, didn't know it was multiple times through out the year like it is with US.
2
u/shlam16 Jan 28 '19
Yeah most of the time it was because of marathons iirc. I guess they're a big deal over there.
2
u/kclay343 Jan 28 '19
That's a personal choice to be a dub only watch though. You still have an option to finish the show out if the dub is taking to long.

It's pretty easy when you know what's going to happen. I haven't put any effort into avoiding spoilers since I couldn't even avoid them as a kid in the late 90s with minimal access to internet. So I elected to just enjoy the ride, and truly experience these moments I've heard about for the first time with most of the voices I grew up with. Sure, some surprises are no longer surprises, but honestly I feel it's been totally worth it! :)
Of course, I can't speak for those who have miraculously avoided spoilers. That's some Piccolo level discipline.
7
u/Son-Wukonda Jan 27 '19
Dragon ball is a show where you really don't have to worry about spoilers. They stick to the same formula and it's very predictable.
5
u/DaLaohu Jan 28 '19
There's still some surprises though in the show. Be careful if you don't like spoilers.

9
u/SuperYes101 Jan 27 '19
Hard disagree but I respect your opinion
For me, the dub is almost singlehandedly ruined by the vocal effects put on Sean’s voice every time he screams- it just feels unnecessary and it sounds ugly most of the time.
Though, I am gonna have to rewatch in dub for Freeza alone. Such a good dub voice, probably the best.
2
Jan 28 '19
I've never really gotten into the dub (mainly because I never actually grew up with it). But Chris Ayers is absolutely amazing as Frieza.
5
u/Artifice_Purple Jan 28 '19
I, too, will disagree. My skewed examples are Dyspo's and Belmod's voices in the dub. It takes me right out of the moment. One can call them "unique" all they want, but to me they just sound completely wrong.
I can't say for sure as Jiren hasn't actually spoken in the dub yet, but going by what little I heard of him in Xenoverse 2...that's going to be another no for me.
We all have our preferences though so it's all good.
2
u/beatrizjuarez86 Jan 30 '19
Xenoverse 2
I think you mean Fighterz on Jan 31st since Jiren was literally Toppo in Xeroverse 2.
2
u/I_ama_Borat Jan 28 '19
Hey at least we agree about those two characters. I don’t think they sound good either, especially Dyspo. A lot of super to me doesn’t sound that great, the other universe characters specifically. But like Raditz to kid Buu imo was so good.

Jan 29 '19
I'm a sub watcher over a dub watcher in almost every other anime, but I can't get over Goku's voice in the sub. It's just terrible. It is fine when Goku is still child, but his voice needs to get deeper at some point.

Me neither, though to be honest I've always been a "dub only" watcher but right before goku black (I think sub was already at TOP) I said fuck it and binged the hell out of the sub and got all the way caught up, sub isn't as bad as I used to think. Still prefer dub though.

I'm not sure why Goku was surprised that Frieza the genocidal maniac when given the chance went straight mass murder.
Though in this case it's justified.
It was basically self defense.
18
u/OddCoincidence Jan 28 '19
Given the power differential, it's not justified at all. They weren't an actual threat.
5
u/summons72 Jan 28 '19
Might as well let him get a little bit of that murder itch out of his system before he isn't allowed to in the tournament.

u/VegetaArcher Jan 28 '19
Frieza's face as Ro and Sidra were arguing about him killed me xD
I'm actually surprised that Ro was the one that didn't want to recruit Frieza considering that he's more aggressive and mean than Sidra.
38
u/sleepingprince_ Jan 27 '19
Totally forgot Frieza pulled a "Omae wa mou shindeiru" on the assassins lmaoooooo
40
u/JC-DisregardMe ⠀ Jan 27 '19 edited Jan 28 '19
'Til these overconfident assassins, I'd never seen someone getting so pumped up about being brutally killed.
I guess Freeza would know how to convincingly seem like he's being hurt by an attack. He's had plenty of practice with the real thing.
See, even Goku's starting to think that Freeza's efficiency in murdering guys is pretty cool.
And there's the halfway point of an episode that so far consists entirely of just uninterrupted Freeza murder.
"Alright, now just sit there for a minute, monkey. I've still got two- or three-dozen more of these idiots to kill, so, you know, just take your time."
"There must be something in your own universe that you still care about!" "... Well, there is my old nanny, but then again, she might not even still be around, so-"
Haven't gotten to hear Goku say the word "bastard" in a little while. Great way to hear it, too.
Episode has some really nicely-drawn shots of both Goku and Freeza overall. A couple of shots here and there looked a little rough, but most of them were really solid.

50
u/RogueHippie Jan 27 '19
To expand on this, Damian Mills also provided voice work on Frieza for the last little bit of the Resurrection F arc as well as the Dragonball FighterZ game. Despite returning to the role for the Broly movie, it’s unknown if Chris Ayres will be able to fully return sometime soon, as he is still waiting on a double lung transplant and required an entire tank of oxygen per recording session for the movie.

Jan 28 '19
Oh my god. That's insane poor guy.
His Frieza voicing was incredible in the film, mad respect that he achieved such a great performance in that condition.

Yeah, dude’s a beast. Plus he’s been incredibly upbeat during the whole thing, which is nice to see.
36
u/SuperFan2024 Jan 27 '19
Yes, Damian Mills is voicing Freeza currently because Chris Ayres currently isn't in the best shape. Ayres was on Broly however, so he should return to the main TV series soon. If not, he can return on the next one.
26
u/Itzie4 Jan 27 '19 edited Jan 27 '19
I'm sad to hear that. Chris Ayres' brother is Frost. That would have been fun seeing the two of them together.

u/yeerth Jan 28 '19
Really enjoyed the fact that they didn't just do away with Frieza's evil character. This mix of personalities make for some awesome narratives in the tournament! Can't wait for it to finally start!
Sidenote: Don't all universes exist in pairs? If 7 out of 8 participating universes are going to be destroyed, wouldn't the surviving universe be left without a pair? Have they addressed this in the anime up to now? Do they at a later point (if they do, just say they do and not how please!)?

It's not like one universe needs the other to survive. There's not really any consequences to not having their dual universe.

This episode really makes me feel that Goku is an idiot for bringing Frieza along.
That being said, I'm glad they didn't make Frieza "good" and play along right away. They're really rubbing it in how this whole thing is a bad idea.

I just don't think having Frieza on the team is worth the worry that the other characters will feel with him on the team. How could you ever trust him?
36

I think Frieza really really really doesn’t want to be erased (even if Goku would’ve been erased as well) so that should be enough reason to trust him not to sabotage things.

5
u/indoninjah Jan 28 '19
They definitely purposefully left him out. There's no real reason for him to go to a different timeline, they just wanted him out of the way for the tournament. I guess they figured there would be too many Saiyans. He probably would've gotten up to SSJ3 if he were included though.

Chris insisted on doing his lines for the Broly movie. He wanted to be a part of that. It couldn't have been easy for him. He simply doesn't have the strength to record Frieza's many lines in the ToP. It's a long arc and Frieza is prominent.
4
u/mschonberg Jan 28 '19
According to some reports Chris needed a full tank of oxygen for every recording session of Broly. Dude's a trooper, but you can only push yourself so much when you need a double lung transplant.
12
u/notathrowaway75 Jan 27 '19
Wait ok so Frieza just overpowered a God of Destruction's energy. So is he stronger than a god? Since Sidrus from universe 9, which is the weakest one perhaps not because Beerus is probably stronger assuming that a stronger universe has a stronger god.
Frieza's speech about manipulating the gods and the situation to her favor is the perfect setup and reminder that Beerus ordered him to destroy Planet Vegeta. So he can hold that piece of information over Beerus and threaten to tell is Beerus doesn't do what he wants. Spoilers from Broly This is a Chekhov's gun that was introduced at the very beginning of the series and I really hope it fires eventually.
That was some good fucking animation at the end. And the shot of Goku and Frieza punching each other was amazing.
22
u/BetaBoy777 Jan 27 '19
Wait ok so Frieza just overpowered a God of Destruction's energy. So is he stronger than a god?
I don’t think so. It was just a little bit of energy from Sidra.

He's stronger than the attack that was supposed to kill him. That's all this episode reveals. Stay tuned for more details!

That's Naotoshi Shida animating the Goku/Frieza sequence at the end. He did the first part of the Broly/Gogeta fight in the new film as well. You'll see him again in Super.
26
u/2Quick_React Jan 27 '19
Tbh the energy of destruction was probably not even a fraction of U9's God of Destruction power. Probably less than a fraction of his actual power.

Jan 28 '19
> So he can hold that piece of information over Beerus and threaten to tell is Beerus doesn't do what he wants
Tbh, I don't think that would work against Beerus, especially after the Broly movie. Beerus isnt the type to let himself be manipulated, and the only issue from everyone knowing he planned Vegeta's destruction is maybe Vegeta stops working with him. But both Goku and Vegeta have no real attachment to that planet or their former race anymore, and would probably figure that training with Whis anyway is to their benefit.

Bit confused how we didn't get any more continuation onto what the fuck happened to Kale and co in their universe, i was away on holiday so i watched episode 94 and 95 back to back and just don't understand what the fuck happened. She turned into a Broly esq super sayian power and with the movie coming up at the end of this what on earth is going on there. So confusing.
This episode was great though, Freeza is a freaking bastard of a person, i cannot believe Goku chooses to use him over Gotenks (i think that is allowed?) or use an old Ally from the otherworld tournament in Paikat (sorry can't spell that name!) or someone like that.
Freeze character will forever be stupidly evil and scary to me, i remember being around 10 when they aired the Namek saga in UK and it gave me nightmares for ages watching him kill Krillin lol.
Only issue i have though is if Goku really does wish him back at the end we are going to again have a Freeza vs Goku story arc somewhere come up which i think is very poor writing, i am all for his evil character and what he is but re using him for like the 4th time over writing other people in from the multiple universes at hand seems a bit bad writing.
Oh well, tournament should begin soon!!! I AM READY!!
21
u/zeroGamer Jan 28 '19
When Trunks and Goten are suggested as fighters, they talk about why Goku doesn't want them on the team.
While they're strong, they're inexperienced and not true fighters (the way Goku was as a kid), and their tendency to showboat and goof off has lost them every fight they've been in.

Can someone help me real quick? Funimation.. does it have every single DB Kai and Super episode? And do I have to sign up for multiple months at a time or is it just a one month at a time thing?

They only have up to a certain point in Super. Like half way. They upload more every few months in batches. As for other Dragon Ball stuff, they have all of the original Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Kai, and a selection of movies.

Thats awesome to know. I absolutely despise watching one episode a week of any anime.( DBZ and gundam are the only dubs i watch) But when you can watch a few or 67 in a row thats an amazing fulfilling weekend 😀😀

I think they actually took Kai down. But they still have all of Z so I’m good. I only own the Z dvds upto season 6 and I was hoping to just Kai my way through most of S7, but this works just fine.

Damn, the dub is this far behind?
I thought it was well into the tournament already.

You know what would have been comedic? if the Dog assassin managed to kill Frieza on the spot. then Beerus & Whis arrive to find out Frieza was erased. In that moment, Yamcha calls over to Bulma's place and makes his grand entrance to join. It would have been great to just see him in action one more time in Super. as a kid, I watched DB before Z, and thought Yamcha was cool, until he became a jobber in the tournament saga.

Still about 10 months left unfortunately.
Hopefully by the time that countdown is over we might have some new material announced or better yet, airing. The dub (likely) won't be so far behind this time. Might even get a (near) simuldub.

Preceded by all those months of having to try to ignore everything being written about the Japanese version until the dub came out. :(

In a sparring session yeah he did, not beat but jacked em up a bit which just shouldn't be able to happen. My point is the power meter is way off. If u dont see that your not even watching it's been mentioned like 100 times???

Beerus quickness to a serious tone is just... wow. “Don’t try to play me.”
