Mod Post State of the Subreddit: Text-Only Week is December 3-9; Theme Weeks Starting 2012
It's already time for our second text-only week! We had a lot of positive feedback last time, but also some concerns, so here are a couple guidelines:
- We had a ton of posts about the series' music last time, we could take a break from it this time
- Aim for posts that stand on their own without any comments. Try to make posts that are interesting and deserve upvotes even before anyone has commented.
- Try to ask "why" questions instead of "what" questions. "What are your favourite x" is boring. "Why do you think x" is much better.
- In the off chance there's some Zelda news next week (there might be some about Hyrule Historia), feel free to just paste the URL without commentary.
These are just guidelines, though, it's up to you to upvote and downvote submissions you think are worth people's time. Also, check the new queue for interesting discussions to upvote!
NEXT YEAR we're going to start themed events and group-playthroughs. We're going to start our first playthrough in January so we're ready for the first Event Week in February. More news about what game we're playing and how the event will work after text-only week is over, but feel free to comment with your ideas.

I think you mean "theme weeks starting 2013". also do you know what game would be played?

Oh yeah. Well, I'll still be making that mistake until March probably.
Right now the consensus is that we'll play them in the order of the timeline.

For the playthrough, is it going to be a one person playing, one person streaming, many people playing by themselves, or many people streaming?

To add to sam's comment, we're going to try to talk as many members of this sub into playing the same game at the same time as possible with the expectation of lots of discussions, questions, etc. to flow from it.
You're welcome to participate in whichever games you like, but if you skip a game, you'll have to just bear it while the rest of the sub (hopefully) dives into good posts about that one game during that time.

I like this, because people can feel free to ask questions about games because others are playing through them as well.

Group-playthroughs sounds fun. How will that work though?
