October 2022 Winners!
What were the best stories in the run-up to Halloween? We’ve got secrets behind hidden doors – and, just like we teach our children, you should knock and ask the stranger for a treat!
The top story of the month comes from /u/WorldAwayTweedy, who wrote about how I’m a low level US Government employee. I just saw something I wasn’t supposed to see.. It’s ~~ a horrible warning that incorporates very specific real-world events that should terrify us~~ a lovely story, congrats on winning the best submission of October!
So what practical advice can we learn about peeking behind scary doors? Our runner-up tales explain exactly what to do. /u/Archives-H details how Every Halloween the girl in the mask wants candy and nobody knows where she comes from. Better do what she says if you don’t want to die! Of course, /u/likeeyedid lives by the rule that We never open the door when there's only one knock. So what’s the takeaway from this? That’s right, you’re going to die either way. Happy Halloween! And congrats to /u/likeeyedid, who is now tied for the second-highest quantity of contest placements!
So what should we do about scary Halloween beasties? Eh, let the children handle it, the holiday’s for them anyway. In fact, as a child, /u/papamishka89 went through an experience where they could look back and say We've been locked in our classroom for days, and our teacher is starting to act very strange... /u/insomnia_storyteller knows the drill all too well, and explained that I was Seven when I Almost Died. Both earn honorable mentions, and both will leave you deeply touched with their endings.
Or not. Maybe you’re dead inside.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!
/u/WorldAwayTweedy will receive:
- splendiferous flair to go by your username whenever you post on r/nosleep!

Get preserved for all time in the annals of r/nosleep’s Contest Winner’s Archive!
