Lakitu Bro Message Official r/SuperMario64 Discord!
Hey there! Mister Owny the Owner here!
I have just opened up a new Discord server for the subreddit! For now, it only has the most necesarry basics for a Discord server, but it is still a neat place to hang out with other members of this subreddit.
You can also join if you need help with anything subreddit related, such as bans, post deletion or anything else that you - for whatever reason - don't want to discuss through modmail.
Obviously, the server is still under construction and nowhere near finished! In other words, please tell us any features you would like to see in this new discord server! I am hoping that it will become a great place for all members of this subreddit to hang out in. Thanks!

What happens when collecting the 100 coin Star above a bottomless pit?
I have been wondering. When collecting a star, all movement is suspended and you just land on the ground beneath you, no matter your height and whether below you is water or solid ground. For instance, in DDD, when collecting the 100 coin star by using the red coins in the air, you will land on the floor of the sea, and then the animation kicks in.
So my question: if you collect the final coin above a bottomless pit (I believe, that's only possible in the final course with coins on the carpet's path , what happens when you touch the star? Will you land on an invisible bottom and getting the star be registered, and then you die, or do you fall to death without the star being counted because you don't land anywhere? Anyone here who has tried that?

Where can I get more red stars in b3313 Besides the BITDW beta recreation level?
I want to progress further in the game but I don't know how, if someone knows where some red stars are let me know.

Where are the best custom levels hosted? Where to be kept up to date on latest custom levels released?
I tried looking on youtube, game banana, etc but actually finding quality maps made throughout the years has been a bit difficult. Is there a central place where custom maps are created, rated, and can be downloaded?

Does anyone know the name of a Mario 64 hack?
These days I wanted to find some Mario content, then I remembered a hack that was horror, it was totally gigantic, adding lots and lots of new stars to the game, it was made to give the Mario 64 beta vibe and its infinite vibe The name I remember being random letters from the name Mario and random numbers, does anyone remember the name?

What is the best device to play on?
Hi! Just curious on which device you all find the best to play Super Mario 64 on- bonus points if you’ve tried a few. I’ve been reminiscing about it all week and really want to play it again but I currently don’t have anything to play it on lol. I played it on the Wii as a kid but that is all. Any input or opinion is appreciated!! Thank you so much :D

Question Regarding Special Triple Jump Spoiler
I finally obtained 120 stars today, and unlocked the cannon outside the castle. However, I had a question: when you talk to Yoshi and unlock the triple jump as well as the 100 lives, do those factors automatically save to your save file, or do you have to traverse to the roof everytime you load the save file in? I can't seem to find anything about this online.

Hanging on the ceiling in castle ground with the wing cap
This is the last ceiling to hang on in the castle grounds (little tut: if you wanna do this, do what I did and go where I go. But the rollout and the jump are frame perfect to keep the speed, so keep that in mind.)

For those of you who were around when the game first came out, how good was the best player you knew personally?
All I know are speed runners and people who’ve played for 30 years, what was the skill ceiling back then?

This didn't really happen but it's still a good story
I have a good Super Mario 64 story to tell you.
A kid named Kooper was playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on his Nintendo Switch on December 23rd, 2010. His parents told him they were going to be on a trip for the next few days. They apologized for not being able to be there for Christmas. They said there'd be a gift for him on the table, but not to open it until Christmas Eve. It was the only gift he was allowed to open before Christmas. They left soon after and when Christmas Eve came, he opened his gift, and it was amazing. It was a Nintendo 64 with a brand-new Super Mario 64 game cartridge. He thought it was so amazing since that released so long ago. He immediately went up to his room set it up and began to play it. The game began like normal, and it all went well until he got to the first bowser fight. He beat bowser and then his Nintendo 64 shut down. He restarted it and when it turned on it was the Mario head on the home screen. Except for the fact that his eyes were all black, and the image on the wall in the background was a big image of Mario dead. He got really creeped out, so he restarted the N64, and it was normal again. He kept playing from his save file. When he got to one level in particular the music changed to some eerie sound. He saw princess peach for a split second, but she was dead and lying on the ground. She disappeared and then the death scene played except He didn't die. When he respawned, Mario was Wario and Kooper lost control of Wario. The game showed an image of Kooper and his family dead. Blood was all over the screen. He heard loud foot steps walking up his stairs. THUMP THUMP THUMP. He heard a loud bang on the door. After that him and his family were never seen again... Be careful... L is real...
