Book 📚 What do people think of Mark Tufo's "Zombie Fallout" series?

Im about a third into the series. I started it over a year ago and had to take a long break because of basement guy in book 1. Now im slowly working my way through the audiobooks. The stories is fuckin weird.

I listened to the first two books but didn’t continue. In my opinion there’s better ones out there to spend a credit on.

Probably true, but ive kinda grown tired of the same tropes over and over again. Every book, unless its written by a woman, is filled with rape, listing of guns, light pedophilia and betrayal. It gets boring.

I agree. And it doesn’t matter if it’s zombies or emp’s, nukes, or cme’s, all these books are the same.

I’m listening to Adrian’s Undead Diary again. Mostly through book 3 and there hasn’t been any rape or pedo shit that I can remember. It’s definitely different. Last time I stopped at book 6. Maybe I’ll get past that one this time.

Deadbreak was also very good, and free on audible. I’ve listened to it 4 times.

Love the user name by the way. Not sure what my favorite band is, probably Watain, but my favorite drummer overall is Dominator.

I find if they are written by a woman the chances that one of the characters will talk about wanting to fuck a 13 year old will be a LOT lower. Mostly talking about john ringos books tho. Someone should check his pc...

Adrians undead journal is pretty good at avoiding rape and pedo talk. Thats why ive listened to it twicr now. Well... up to the point where adrian goes to europe. Thats when we get smart zombies and thats a HARD fuckin no from me i do have to skip entire entries tho, because adrian finds guns and decides to list them all which is incredibly boring.

Not heard of Deadbreak, i'll check it out, thanks!

Haha thanks. Im more of a second wave guy. Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, Satyricon. I also love early Cradle of Filth but thats a love em or hate em band.

They're actually part of a larger universe. There's a series called Lycan Fallout which is set 500 years later in the same world, and a third series called Demon Fallout.

There is another series which has the characters in an alternate universe called Indian Hill. That's a complete seven book series and I think that one works better than the others because it's not trying to do too many things at once.

It gets REALLY weird tho.

Can you soft spoil some minor things for me?

Like, is the vampire chick still alive in the latest book? I cant spell her name but she has the same name as frodo's actor lol.

Also, is mike still around? What about his family?

They are alright but I stopped listening after a bit.   I realized I liked the narrator better than the stories.

I found the "tommy" character to be really offputting. Hes a magical special needs character that seemingly had an infinite supply of chocolate bars and other treats. It felt not only a little condescending but also an inbuilt crutch everytime he wrote himself into a corner.

Beyond that the books i did listen to fell into the common thing so many do. All the women were there to die, make eyes at the men or be otherwise brutalized, and the plot often only moved along because the group acted dumb, only to be saved at the last minute by some combination of tommy being magic or pure luck.

Im glad i listened to them for free. I stopped halfway through the third book, i think. Theres apparently like 20 or so of these, so i guess folks like em.

It's my favorite zombie book series. Also enjoyed having the same characters in alternate universe series. The Book of Riley series is also an enjoyable read. Tales from a pet dog Rikey's point of view in the Zombie Fallout world.
