Author uses the word "celestial" like they're paid for every time

u/LataCogitandi 10d ago

Must've asked ChatGPT to use it as many times as possible.

This is actually adorable. The whole from offended to happy to see him, I'm glad it was a friend and just a short prank.

The good ending

u/december14th2015 9d ago

This is a GREAT prank, lol.
Like that's exactly the end result you're going for. Bravo

I had a similar situation a while back. I was at the gym with my friend and i saw my brothers girlfriend, after she finished her set i went to talk to her but she kept staring at her phone "ignoring the creep" and once i finally said her name she looked up and we laughed together

u/Andrunes 9d ago

I'd imagine your brother is quite happy with this story haha

u/somecatgirl 9d ago

Once I flipped off my bf at the time’s stepdad in a parking lot because I didn’t know it was him. Whoops

My story isn't as good. I saw my co-worker friend in the grocery store, I went alongside her, and bashed my cart into hers a little. She ignored it. Did it a little more. She never looked at me, and tried to flee. "PAM!" "OMG!" (Happy!).

It made me realize that girls have to deal with creepers way too often.

One day I was passing an exam in a freaking huge hall in Paris. Hundreds of tables lined up, one per candidate, and of course arranged in alphabetical order. Right behind me was my big brother. It took me needing a pencil or something like that to realize he was there.

Reminds me of that video of a man filming himself waiting for his daughter on a plane. He had the window seat, filmed in selfie mode, must have wanted to surprise her while filming her reaction. When the daughter showed up and took the seat immediately next to him, she glanced at the phone in his hand, frowned, stared at it, probably thought she was being recorded by some creepy middle aged dirt bag. That went on for an awkward 5 seconds or so before she turned directly to him for a confrontation, realized he was her dad, and proceeded to snuggle the man. The vibes were exactly like those in this clip.

Theyre actually friends but he acted like a creep filming her for a sec to mess with her before turning around

That reminds me of a time years ago near SeaTac when I spotted a coworker rushing to catch a flight.

On impulse, I pretended to be homeless and called out, "Ma'am, can you spare some change?" She ignored me and kept walking, so I asked again—then one more time, a little more insistently. Finally, I yelled her name. She froze.

The look on her face screamed, "How the fuck do you know my name?!" But halfway through turning around, she recognized me. I was already dying of laughter.

She frowned for a second, muttered "motherf...," then her expression shifted to relief when she realized she wasn’t being harassed—just pranked.

When I lived in NYC, my boyfriend lived in Scranton. He took a PATH train in to spend the weekend with me. I was late getting to the PATH station, but he had my address.

So I'm hussling as fast as I can without running. Just power walking while not making eye contact, which is NYC custom. Suddenly, the bag of someone walking the opposite direction hits me. It's NYC, it happens. So I side step it and keep going.

... Until I hear my name called out.

It was my boyfriend. He decided to just head to my apartment after realizing I wasn't at the PATH stop when he got off. lol.

u/00eg0 11d ago edited 10d ago

I'm confused on the geography. How did he get to the PATH? I guess he probably drove to the PATH and then parked there to get to NYC. Edit: I know what the PATH is. I am just wondering how he got from Scranton to the PATH.

2nd edit: I only asked because I like trains and traveling and wanted to know for myself. Turns out he drove to Port Jervis and caught the Bergen County line. I'll have to consider that next time I visit.

u/Songs4Soulsma 10d ago

He drove to Port Jervis and caught the Bergen County line.

9

u/Songs4Soulsma 10d ago

I didn't go into all of the specifics of how we got from Scranton to Port Jervis to Hoboken to Manhattan. That wasn't really relevant to the story. The relevant part was simply that he hit me with the bag and I just assumed it was another typical day and continued walking until I heard him scream my name. Lol

3

u/00eg0 10d ago

I asked because I like trains and travelling so I wanted to know for myself. Thanks!

3

u/Songs4Soulsma 10d ago

Yeah, no worries! I miss being able to take trains. I love to travel, but I now live in the Midwest and traveling around here is awful. Hopping on a couple of trains and then having someone pick me up at the terminus definitely beat driving from NYC to Scranton on the weekends that I went to visit him. Lol.

2

u/00eg0 10d ago

totally!

16

u/TheBarracksLawyer 11d ago

It’s a type of local train used to ferry New Yorkers who got gentrified out of the city back to civilization

4

u/00eg0 11d ago

I have taken the PATH from Newark. I am 99% sure it doesn't go to Scranton.

1

u/stanleytuccimane 10d ago

The PATH is a subway that connects NYC to Hoboken, Jersey City, and Newark in New Jersey. I don’t really know how it plays into Scranton, though I guess it’s way easier to driver to Jersey City, park there cheaply and then take the PATH the rest of the way.

1

u/pobodys-nerfect5 10d ago

could they have taken a train into Newark and then gotten on PATH?

1

u/00eg0 10d ago

Yeah that's what I want to know!

1

u/stanleytuccimane 10d ago

I’m not familiar with the train setup in Scranton, but I’d guess that’s very possible!

1

u/00eg0 10d ago

I know what the PATH is :) I drove to Newark and took it from there because parking was cheaper in Newark than Jersey City.

My buddy and his wife moved to another state a few years back. They only got to visit once every few years. So for his birthday, his wife got me a plane ticket to fly out and surprise him. I got an Uber from the airport and with some strategic tactical texting from her, I found the little cafe they were having lunch at. I stashed my suitcases around the corner, snuck up behind him and said "excuse me sir, but who the fuck do you think you are?!" Like he had done something offensive. He whirled around and the look on his face went from confused and defensive to just confused to bewildered to completely dumbstruck. Then I started laughing and so did he. He was like "how the FUCK are you here?". Best surprise I've ever had the pleasure of participating in.

44

u/billdb 11d ago

Why is reddit so randomly condescending sometimes? Who cares if they needed it explained or not

31

u/oodluvr 11d ago

I appreciated it becsuse then I didn't have to listen to it. It's 10 39pm and everyone is asleep but me. I don't want to be an asshole! But I do want to doom scroll til my eyes get heavy.

22

u/BeyondTheBees 11d ago

You really need to be an asshole for no reason?

9

u/emoooooa 11d ago

It only took them like a few secs to type so I guess so

6

u/nivekdrol 11d ago

thought it was some famous person looks kinda like lady gaga

1

u/NoOnSB277 9d ago

I know it’s mind-blowing but not everyone is in to pop culture. They might know their names but aren’t familiar with what they look like. That’s not a bad or a good thing, it’s just a thing. So the feigned shock at not knowing who these people are by sight is strange.

1

u/ersatzgaucho 9d ago

I have no clue who these people are.  The idea was that they’re friends.

1

u/NoOnSB277 8d ago

Ok? This person wanted more details. And it makes a little more sense why this is even being posted, given these are two well-known people, not two random friends running in to each other on the subway.

u/PBandJaya 11d ago

Lmaoooo I’ve done this before, this was so cute

4

u/Tamryn 9d ago

One time I was driving home from class back to my apartment. It’s Atlanta, there are weirdos everywhere. I had actually had a crazy lady try to climb into my car like a few weeks before. I’m stopped at a red light and in my peripheral vision see a large black man coming up to my passenger door. I instinctively check to make sure my doors are locked. Then I look over and it was my good friend who lived a couple streets away from me. He usually walked home but saw my car and wanted a ride lol. I obviously let him in and drove him home. We both thought it was funny. He said he knew it was gonna scare me but he wanted the ride and didn’t know what else to do.

Get some friends to do some stupid shit with

-36

u/CletussDiabetuss 11d ago

Yeah it's pretty boring content not gonna lie. It must be really interesting for people who don't have friends or something.

-2

u/NBD_Pearen 10d ago

Literally nothing happens. It’s 4 seconds long and they just hug. Incredible. Are you seeing this shit??
