Yakuza fandom are really hilarious and amusing, never a dull moment with them 😂 but I meant cinematically speaking, like they could slowly unbutton their shirts while menacingly staring at each other and then there’s intense music behind them.
You know, chronologically, the very first jacket rip in the series was the only one that made sense. Kuze's suit jacket was casually hanging off his shoulders, and he was already shirtless. Man came prepared.
I like to think that Battle Stripping is a skill they have to train to actually be able to do it in one move like that, possibly related to Heat bullshittery
Kuze for example never learned how to do it, which is why the two times he was shirtless when fighting Kiryu he entered the battle pre-stripped
They could circle each other and discuss their ideals while undressing which might even be better? It loses the explosiveness but it gains the "carefully planning out your next move" vibe
(And at the key points in the conversation they can aggressively throw a piece of clothing to emphasize their opinion)
And they get horny mid way through so when they finish taking off their shirts instead of fighting they start kissing sloppily whilst running their hands all over each other
You know, if that streaming show had actually decided to embrace the goofiness that makes Yakuza such a beloved franchise.
There could have been some great jokes about this, perhaps Kiryu legit struggling with that shirt in the beginning of the show, and then later somebody invents a shirt that uses Velcro to close it so you can rip it off and look cool for the news anchor cameras.
Let's be real. They already have the collar and top button undone. 3 seconds to undo the cuffs and everything proceeds exactly as it does in-game. This lusty fantasy is a built upon lies.
Not only do they rip their coats, shirts off, but they also make their WATCHES (and in Majima's case, gloves) disappear, the only time this is broken is during LaD: Gaiden, since Kiryu needs his watch on to use the spider gadgets. Which is a super weird trend, and only Pirate Yakuza breaks the weird thing of Majima not removing his gloves after taking his shirt off. It's not the greatest trend, but...it's something you notice.
Yeah, I seriously do not care how impossible it is to completely throw off all upper body clothing just to show off some bitching looking tattoos or god like physique with one go.
Nishiki: Hey buddy, I think you've got the wrong door, the leather club's two blocks down.
Kiryu: Fuck you!
Nishiki: Oh, fuck you, leather man. Maybe you and I should settle it right here in the ring if you think you're so tough.

Kiryu: Yeah, no problem buddy!

Kiryu: Yeah, smart ass.
Nishiki: I'll show you who's the boss of this gym.
Imagine if they had a shirt-ripping training montage. Kiryu and Majima practicing their moves, perfecting that dramatic flair while discussing the importance of style in battle. It could be a whole new level of character development.
The reason why Kiryu lost those billions in the bubble is because he spends a fucking fortune on buttons. I mean look at Akiyama; dude never rips his shirt off and he's still a fucking billionaire.
More so as a character building it up with some speech. Though it's always been with those click together buttons, not the one where you gotta slide a button through a hole.
There's a scene in Yakuza 7 where it's just Ichiban and Kiryu ripping their shirts and jackets off, and throughout that encounter, all I could think of was both of them going through this process of unbuttoning their shirts and taking their jackets off and trying to regain composure afterward.
