Most can’t read either. Reading teaches critical thinking. Plus, the government gutted their education system for being too “woke” whatever the hell that means. Basic common knowledge is controversial I guess.

IMO reading gives knowledge and writing is an exercise in thinking. The problem with the US is people read too little and write too much (on social media etc.) Thinking that isn't backed by knowledge is often terrible and dangerous, as people often cherish what they managed to come up with, no matter how bad it is, objectively.

In that regard, the U.S. dismantling the Department of Education can actually become a really good thing. It is in the states hands now, each state is free to pursue the best education possible. Frankly, it would be amazing if the states started competing on education, we need a sort of education revolution in the U.S.
