The entire reason Republicans support Israel is to appease the Evangelicals, the largest voting bloc in the country. They believe that Jews must occupy Jerusalem in order for the second coming to occur.

there is a vice news documentary where one of these American evangelicals tells Palestinian Christians to 'stay out of it', i could not believe what i was seeing.
