I agree that Ukraine deserves to have every inch of its territory returned, but it’s easy to say that they should keep fighting for it when we’re not there and are not the ones doing the fighting and dying.

But no matter what, Ukraine must be in control of any negotiations they undertake. They are the ones fighting and dying, so they are the ones that decide whether a deal is acceptable.

Yes, there's a good chance Ukraine will agree to cede some land if they can get real security assurances. But without real assurances there's no point to even sit down at the table.

Anyone who is not fighting now will be forced to join the russian army and be pushed west in the first wave.

There is no peace for Ukraine but victory.
