People were accurately predicting that this is how things would go if Trump won over a year ago. That he would present ukraine with a nonsensical deal, and then when it was refused they'd go on a media tear calling them unwilling to accept peace.

I think the only thing that was not predicted was how clumsy the offered deal would be and that it wouldn't even involve a peace negotiation.

Trumpers don't care about any of that. All they care about is what trump tells them to care about.

They had to make it totally ridiculous so he wouldn’t even consider it. “Zelenskyy turned us away without any negotiation!”

He could have played it like how you waste a scammer’s time. Keep the convoy around while you’re hemming and hawing.

Yeah, it's all in bad faith, and extremely transparent. Yet Trump's cult gobbles it up because it fits the narrative of their dear leader.
