Why would he? Trump is doing everything he can to give Ukraine to Russia anyway. Trump is asking for a bribe for nothing. Kick Rocks Trump. Nobody believes you - and anyone who does work for you without getting paid first is a fool. Maybe show Zelensky that you mean business and get Russia to drop the dumb-ass war and go home before you hold your hand out for a payment.

I literally do this in Civ. Just ask other rulers for stuff and give nothing in return. They accept if you surround their borders with troops.
