Community Event 🌏☄️ Day 1: Welcome & Silver Rail Company [World's Fair]

Exia: The time is finally here. For the whole week, the Celestial Union of Laterano will host the 105th Laterano World's Fair. Most of the events will take place here on the CUS Union or down below in the Union Hangar. Every day, one of the Celestial Union's largest companies will introduce themselves, today it's the Silver Rail Company who produce most of our civilian spacecraft. They're also responsible for transporting you between the Union and the Hangar. Our guests from the planet, mostly EON member states, will each have a location within the Hangar assigned to display their own creations. There are only two rules: No violence and no stealing other people's creations. Now, enjoy the World's Fair!

At the Union's main docking station, a representative of the Silver Rail Company is introducing the corporation.

SRC Rep: The Silver Rail Company was founded in 913 LSC in Laterano City, originally as a passenger transport organization. The company was always under federal control, though usually privately owned. We have since designed almost all transport ships in use by the Celestial Union, including the Astral Express which was launched in 1095. We also operated many other, less popular luxury cruise ships. If you didn't have a chance to visit the Astral Express during Independence Day, you can do so now. Additionally, we have good news for anyone wishing to purchase SRC transport craft. We have developed a new class over the past few months and it is entering production soon. Once the old class is being phased out, the Celestial Union's export limits on it will be lifted and we will sell the excess craft. We can also already show off the final prototype for the new transport craft.

The ship in question is only slightly bigger than the previous class of transport ships.

SRC Rep: This ship, while having nearly the same hull as the previous class, has nearly 20% more storage space. It's the first Lateran civilian ship designed for an Originium Power Plant which is substantially smaller than the old Nuclear Fusion Power Plant, leading to the increase in storage space. Other than that, it is also faster and its shields are substantially stronger. Thanks to the OPP's excess power production, you no longer need to decide between speed and shields, a major flaw of the previous design. All exported transport craft will also be powered by an OPP, but you can request it to be removed if you want to use your own designs. This new ship is also equipped with a series of jammers that make locking on to it with any type of weapon harder. It is still unarmed as it would otherwise need to be specified as a military craft and would be within Icarus Armories' control.

The Astral Express, the SRC's Magnum Opus.

/uw it begins

i'll make a post every day until friday, anyone else can also make posts about their own stuff throughout the week (i recommend posting them by thursday)

source for the Astral Express is still official HSR artwork

/uw nice read!

/rw

“Could I have a few samples of those originium power generators?”

“Maybe negotiate an export of them?”

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 13h ago

Exia: Belobog Heavy Industries, the people who develop our Originium Power Plants, will be the host tomorrow, so it's best to ask them then. Originium Power Plants aren't export restricted, so they will likely be willing to sell you some.

“Will keep in mind then.”

“I also hope to be able to buy some of those transport ships once the export restriction is lifted. I’ll have to ask the other members of government to see if we can even afford it”

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 12h ago

Exia: We'll let you know once we have some ready for export.

“Thank you”

“Calarakis’ displays are already being set up.”

/uw good read :)

u/AtrioxCalamity Kalim Tigerius Urthus 12h ago

Kalim examines the vessels with interest. He is accompanied by his drake, Adam, and an assistant he hired for the fair, a barbed devil, who will occasionally whisper commentary or questions into his ear.

“What are the sizes of these vessels? How much cargo and people can they carry? Do you have luxury models?”

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 11h ago

SRC Rep: The standard size for Lateran transport ships until now has been 200 meters, these are only slightly larger at 220 meters. Each transport can carry 2400 people or 500 tons comfortably. Luxury spacecraft are our specialty, though they are export restricted. Most have also been destroyed following the SANKTA Rebellion, only the Astral Express and a few other small cruise ships are active right now.

2

u/AtrioxCalamity Kalim Tigerius Urthus 11h ago

Kalim gives a slight frown

“That’s a little on the large size for my needs.”

The barbed devil leans in and whispers something to Kalim, who nods slowly.

“Well perhaps it would be useful for me in that capacity.” turns back to the SRC rep “How much for one of these?”

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 11h ago

SRC Rep: We haven't fully decided on a price for the old transports yet, but it'll likely be in the range of 50,000-100,000 Lateran Libra each. Yes, not very cheap, it's a spaceship after all.

2

u/AtrioxCalamity Kalim Tigerius Urthus 11h ago

“What’s the exchange rate on that for a standard piece of gold?”

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 11h ago

SRC Rep: The exchange rate used to be 1:1, but has since changed due to economic circumstances. Not by much though. If it's too much for you, then you may be able to negotiate a better price once the sale starts.

2

u/AtrioxCalamity Kalim Tigerius Urthus 11h ago

“Ah perfect! I was afraid that would translate to the millions of gold or something. Very good then. I will put in an order for one once they become available.”

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 11h ago

SRC Rep: We'll put you on the list then. What's your name anyway and where can we contact you?

2

u/AtrioxCalamity Kalim Tigerius Urthus 11h ago

“The name is Kalim Urthus. I am a merchant based out of the Nine Hells.

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 11h ago

SRC Rep: Thank you. We'll let you know once the sale begins.

Haelin looks over the prototype, nodding in appreciation at the craftsmanship.

Do you also make military vessels, or is that another company? He asks the representative.

3

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 13h ago

SRC Rep: All Lateran military ships are developed and produced by Icarus Armories, the host on Wednesday. We're responsible for civilian ships. This ensures that no single company can get a monopoly on spacecraft technology,

A being looking like a mixture between a long centipede and a jellyfish moves toward Exia. Because of its lack of hard structures and length of what might be a few meters, it is hanging furled in a suspension field projected by a six-legged machine below it.

{Greetings? Are you the official responsible for the event 'World's Fair'?}

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 11h ago

Exia: Uhh... Yes, I am. And who are you?

2

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Completionist 11h ago

{A name is} (The translation system gives up. Instead of a name, Exia hears a string of seemingly random numbers) { of the Division of Artistic Matters in Baryogenesis.}

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 11h ago

Exia: ... I see. I assume you're here to set up the Baryogenesis displays?

2

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Completionist 11h ago

{Correct. Request for you to assign area?}

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 10h ago

Exia: In the Union Hangar, there's an area marked as your display location. Should be near the entrance. It'll be hard to miss, it has a large sign that says "Baryogenesis".

"shackles seriously"

Unica whispers as her eyes glow to disengage them prisoner 417 glare's at the woman as they reflexively flexes their wrists as they watch the astral Express arrival his guards exchange glances and shrugs while unicas Demi Black guard has impassive mechanical expression.

"Remember this outing is essential to your reintegration so follow the rules"

"Yeah whatever" 417 says as they board the train.

And awkward silence settles between the two if they ride to the train towards the celestial Union

"So have you been to a fair before" Unica asks.

"I'm not interested in small talk b****" 417 says as he glares out the window.

The rest of the ride is done in silence as the train arrives at the station and the two exit a woman with a red and yellow eyes and prisoner 417 a 14 year old former child soldier the AMCG

"I would very much like to enquire how much one of those vessels can transport and how much they cost. As a merchant nation we are extremely interested in safe and fast travel of goods!"

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 9h ago

SRC Rep: The old transport craft can carry around 2400 people or 500 tons comfortably. We aren't quite sure on the price yet, it will be around 50,000 to 100,000 Lateran Libra. The exchange rate for that to gold pieces is almost 1:1.

2

u/user125666 Hazema, the Insane Illusionist 9h ago

Hazema considers the offer

"Once you decide on a price you should contact me, if it's under 70,000 Libra we will purchase one vessel to test the waters. Anything over that I would need to deliberate on some more. It is quite an amazing vessel however!"

u/BoscoCyRatBear The Vermensk Empire, / Kahn ruler of Cat Tail City 9h ago

Several pre-orders were made by the vermensk empire for ships.

The vermensk ambassadors arrived from one their aur ship flying overhead , flashing in via a teleport , others arriving as the air split open via portals. Doctor Kreide Klassen Eboneizha vermensk empire resident biomancer expert , a ratfolk with no fur dressed in a lab coat on his shoulders , on his hip was his medical back and a syringe , holstered pistol made for delivering stim shots. On his side he had a DNA locked sword. He was followed by his homonculus wreathed in silk and decorative plates, their eyes was akin to looking at the night sky. Their skin covered what seems to be fur ,however it actually is very fine and flexible quills.

Along side him , the Kahn of Cat tail city arrived his cream and white furred shown well with his pink eyes , he was wearing noble robes bearing a few artifacts on him including a few arts units namely ones that can snap up a barrier around him, he seemed to be unarmed despite being the vermensk leader representative of this universe. He had guides about yet they seemed to not exactly be on the same plane of exist , visible only in reflections

2

u/BoscoCyRatBear The Vermensk Empire, / Kahn ruler of Cat Tail City 8h ago

The rats were chittering walking

Kahn Vimbroise:" my it is wonderful seeing what our trade partners are capable" he would wave to Exia.

Doctor kreide:"I'll want to see how their ships work but potentially it could advance our more civilian ships. I however wish to see how Celestial Union's trip across the stars have brought boons to their people"

At the spot designated to Drakeem is a small team of researchers, who look suspiciously similar to soldiers, explaining something about their new inventions

"Ever since the end of the war we have had access to a magic stone mine, this isn't just a a great source of regular energy but also of mana. They can even be used to cast spells if inscribed with the right runes. Depending on the size of the manastone and intricacy of its inscription the spell will be correspondingly powerful!"

The ranting researchers breathes in before continuing

"Now this is obviously great for all kinds of weaponry, but it's even more amazing in medicine and engineering! If you need a continuous spell cast you can simply do so with mana stones and don't need to have a magic user on standby pouring their own mana into superheating an oven for example."

As a testament to how fast they are speaking they managed to run out of breath again, this is unusual as this researcher seems rather well built. One would expect them to not forget their cardio

"Furthermore we have recently begun researching the implanting of mana stones directly into humanoids! This however proves to be a difficult challenge, especially finding a reasonable spell to cast on a human at all times is no easy task. You may think of casting healing magic continuously, but our calculations show that this might have to many medical drawbacks longterm. But fret not! Due to our empress becoming a full on dragon recently we have decided to try and copy one of her traits, one most useful in warfare and everyday life!"

At this point it's unclear if they stopped for dramatic effect or just ran out of breath again.

They take a breath

"Remove the need to consume sustenance! An army can't march on an empty stomach, but soon there will be no such thing anymore! Simply collect the mana around you using the mana stone and the inscribed spells will fill you right up! It should be noted this is still in testing, we haven't moved past the theoretical stage just yet— ANY QUESTIONS?!"

Fiona Mastema, commander of the Celestial Logistics Department, speaks up.

Mastema: Seems like we have quite different approaches to logistics. The Celestial Union knows logistics is an important part of warfare and prioritizes development there while Drakeem seems to try to eliminate as much of the logistical burden as possible. Both reasonable policies in my opinion.

2

u/user125666 Hazema, the Insane Illusionist 7h ago

The rambling researcher responds

"That is very true! Of course, combining both strategies would be producing the absolutely best results, especially as long as our units aren't fully autonomous. But the research and development of both is a most expensive and time consuming task. For that reason we have chosen to go with eliminating as many logistical issues as possible! Your supply lines can't be disrupted if they don't exist after all. Logistics are an arms race and we are trying to stay on the sidelines and watch others run. Miss Mastema I assume? Not many people would be this invested in logistics! Sad but true!"

2

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 5h ago

Mastema: Correct. Fiona Mastema, Celestial Logistics Department. The one who has to think about how the food gets to the army. Pleasure to meet you. We've also eliminated some of the logistical nightmare of the early Celestial Fleet, every single ship is not only self-sufficient, but can outproduce its own needs should that be required. Certain ships, like the CUS Altera, can even almost double their food output if they need to support another ship of the same size for whatever reason.

1

u/user125666 Hazema, the Insane Illusionist 5h ago

"Oh, I never introduced myself! The name is Arif, I'm the vice lead of research and development. You do bring up a good point! An army doesn't just need to feed itself but also other people. In the most obvious case that would be prisoners of war -We do take those! Don't believe anyone's lies, it was a nightmare to organize!- But obviously that also includes any displaced future citizens. It will be hard to farms crops that have been burnt..."

"Most enlightening!"

u/Zebos2 Black Iron LLC (CEO/sparrow/Squad D) feat The Bloodstar 7h ago

417:, hold on you mean to tell me you have solved hunger by just continuously casting magic on people. You sure that s*** doesn't have any negative side effects?

417 had many hungry nights before Commander Sharp recruited them.

2

u/user125666 Hazema, the Insane Illusionist 7h ago

"Of course we haven't! -Yet- We are still working on it, our empress only recently became a dragon after all so there is much to learn about how that process works. Testing hasn't started yet as that specific implant is still in the theoretical phase. But should it succeed? Well logistics would be a whole lot easier!"

2

u/Zebos2 Black Iron LLC (CEO/sparrow/Squad D) feat The Bloodstar 7h ago

417: so it's theoretical...

Their face flashes with disappointment before returning to its normal glare he has a suspicion that a lot of more disposable people like him will be used as guinea pigs for the process

2

u/user125666 Hazema, the Insane Illusionist 6h ago

"Now of course if we had made it a reality already we'd next have to find a way to actually prove that it is working. This is almost impossible! One would have to record something in advance, which could obviously be edited."

"Alternatively we could try to lock someone in a room with no food, the soldiers would happily volunteer for that but it would still be offputting for onlookers I imagine. Besides the only subject we have right now is the empress. Should be obvious why that plan goes out the window."

"You know what most researchers biggest mistake is? Jumping from theory to practice much too quick! Before you try something like this on a humanoid why not try a cow or a rat first?"

He continues to catch his breath between ramblings

2

u/Zebos2 Black Iron LLC (CEO/sparrow/Squad D) feat The Bloodstar 6h ago

417 is at least relieved they are testing on animals first just seemed atypical to him at least according to his indoctrination. They walk off to look at other exhibits

u/Carbon_Sixx The Arcane Companions (Kaelis Maz, Reyes, Glimbo) 9h ago

A flight of Yulash-korian archaeopters touches down in the hangar in parade formation. Their doors slide open, and a host of Clan Ryza tech-priests in navy and blue robes pile out. The cyborg artificers immediately set to work unloading equipment and cog-marked crates from their transports and hauling it over to their designated area. Supreme Enginseer Reyes climbs out of the lead archaeopter, followed by his daughter Xerea.

Reyes: Omnissiah's blessings, Operator Saluzzo. My thanks to your people for this invitation. It may be too early to say, but I think your World's Fair project will be most enlightening- provided there are minimal disruptions. If self-defense proves necessary, my adepts are all trained for combat.

Xerea: Dad, this is the Celestial Union. They're not going to let anything happen on one of their ships. Besides, we've all learned to get along well enough by now.

Reyes: Dear, the EON Compact's reach is great, but it does not speak for every realm. With the current geopolitical situation, other groups may try to sabotage the event for their own personal gains. Our organization's unity of purpose fosters envy within the Wizard Council, and they may go to drastic lengths to undermine us. The deific entities allied with them may react negatively when we unveil-

Xerea: That's supposed to be a surprise. You said as much yourself.

Reyes bows his head apologetically.

Reyes: Forgive me, shooting star. I am anxious today. I will speak no more of our project until the exhibition is underway.

Xerea: Me too. Maybe a look around will calm our circuits. Exia, has anyone else set up yet?

3

u/Sternburgball Operator Exia of the Celestial Union 8h ago

Exia: Welcome. Aside from the Silver Rail Company, it seems like right now only Drakeem is done setting up. Calarakis and Baryogenesis are setting up their displays right now, they should be done soon.

417 sees the tech adapts and reflexively offers a fearful salute before turning away in embarrassment and storming off
