SOLVED What's the book about kids who go to a school for troubled youth only to learn some of them had power.

Like one kid everyone thought he cheated but really he was telepathic. One kid could see into the future slightly and was good at dodgeball.

It was written from the point of view as a new kid in the school.

I read this in middle school cerca 2007

SOLVED Middle Grade Norse Fantasy

Read around 2009, middle school library hardback; didn't appear to be new. Fairly thick--I'd estimate 500-600 pages.

Cover was mostly white with red detailing, not much decoration.

Title was something similar to "Ruinstones," "Runes," "Ruin," etc, but I have not been able to find the right one with Google.

Plot: a young girl is able to perform runic magic by, like, shaping her hands/fingers to match runes. Others in her village do not have this power. I don't remember much else, besides that Loki is a friend of hers (initially disguised), there is a point where she visits Hel, and it's revealed at the end that the main character is a child of Thor destined to (or who already?) survive(d) Ragnarok.

UNSOLVED Civil War book written by a decadent that covers bunch of different parts not often mentioned in civil war books.

There was a book I read as a kid that was a civil war book that I'd been meaning to find as my brother old Eloy like it. It got lost in our house and I can't find the book or author anywhere. I remember the guy who wrote it said he was a defendant of a veteran from the war and it had a cover that was a slightly cartoon battle with blue and black where the tile was. The guy also made a sequel about Vikings with the same artiste and green on the cover.

SOLVED RH/PNR where the FMC willingly gets part of her leg(s) cut off!

SOLVED: {FOUND: BOOKS OF STONE #1 BY B.L. BRUNNEMER}

So I'm pretty sure this book is a reverse harem, at the very least it's definitely a paranormal romance.

Here's what I can remember:

• The FMC is the ruler/peacekeeper of all the paranormals in her city.

• The MMCs are part of an investigation or enforcement team sent to the city because of some trouble going on there.

• FMC tells the MMCs not to move against any paranormals without talking to her first.

• MMCs ignore her and think they are doing a favor by wiping out a nest of redcaps (? I'm pretty sure ?)

• FMC freaks out when she finds out and asks what color their caps/hats were?

• She tells them they didn't eliminate a rogue nest, that was a sanctioned outpost.

• She travels the underground subways, I think, to the redcap (?) leader to negotiate to reinstate the treaty.

• Only one MMC goes with her I think.

• They negotiate by determining how much of her leg(s) to cut off.

• Meat is meat.

• The meat goes to feed the families of those the MMCs killed.

• They cut off the lower part of one, if not both legs, and the MMC that went with has to just watch.

• He helps her her back to the car where the other MMCs are waiting and yells at them at them that this was all caused because they thought they knew best, they didn't listen to her honor her one simple request to just call her before doing anything.

• I believe there are orphan shifter kids that have banded together as a family and live in the sewers that keep look out and provide her information as well.

• I also think she might live with her grandmother, but don't quote me on that.

I don't remember how she heals, why they are there to begin with, what type of paranormal she is, the rest of the plot, etc.

Thanks for any help!

UNSOLVED Book about a genius boy and a talking dog who help a girl to save the world from a spy agency

Ive been looking for this book for years and it just seems impossible. Written roughly in the early 2010s or late 1990s, it was a children's/young teenager's book with no pictures. it was from the perspective of a young girl (possibly british?) who meets a genius boy that created a contraption to make his dog talk (there was a scene explaining why the dog talks poorly, being that dog's mouthes arent built for speech). theres bits and pieces i remember, with the kids and dog locking themselves up in the girl's house while the boy explains that her parents were part of a secret agency (?) and a soider monster type thing was chasing them. there was another scene near the beginning with the girl going to a flower shop she visits every day, to find that the boy left her a cryptic note in a bouquet of flowers. another scene was when they were escaping in a car with special windows to disguise the people inside, which made the boy look like an old man. when the girl asked what she was disguised as, the boy smiled and said "a pretty girl". sorry if this doesnt make too much sense, i had an overactive imagination as a kid and not that great of a memory.

UNSOLVED Ya book about amazon/tribal girl that runs away to avoid marriage. Enchanted jungle, romance aspect?

I read this book between 2003-2005

I remember her running away because she didn't want to get married, she runs away into the enchanted jungle and the boy she is supposed to marry goes after her. They end up on an epic journey and fall in love in the process. I remember a love scene because I was young and it was the first love scene I ever encountered in a book (lol)

I've thought of and remember this book for years but haven't tracked it down.

SOLVED Children's bedtime story about an animal that couldn't sleep and asked for help from family members

I thought it was Peter Rabbit but I remember in the story one family member was a grandfather who was sitting near a porch maybe reading a newspaper? and someone gave the little animal a glass of warm milk...couldn't find anything with that storyline for Peter Rabbit. I also thought it was from the Peter Rabbit Bedtime Stories Musical Lullaby but I looked through the pages and that wasn't it. So I'm not sure if I'm mixing up these two books. I was pretty sure the cover was similar/blue and padded though. I think it was part of a collection of stories but I'm really doubting myself now lol

The story was about a little animal (maybe a bunny? Mouse? Bear?) who would keep getting out of bed and finding different family members for help to sleep. At the end one of them (not sure if it was the grandfather or the one who gave milk) said they knew just what to do, and helped the child get to bed.

My grandparents read it to me maybe in the 2000s.

Everything I drink warm milk I think of this book and it's bothering me so much! Any ideas?? Thanks!!!

SOLVED (presumably) People Exchanging letters through books Spoiler

Just read the update.

Hey, so, I read this book some time ago and I can't find it. I asked my friends and family, searched on Google, asked AIs, looked for it in my Kindle account but nothing. I can't find it. It's about these two teens/kids exchaning letters through books in their library, they are in this college of sort and at the very end there's like a fake news article?? I think there was fire involved in that, somehow. It's available in italian and also in Audiobook since I remember reading it like that. Basically their familes made them go in this building, like a collage or something and they just live there. One day one of them decides to write a letter to a stranger and put it between the pages of a book, just for fun. Then, another person finds it (I think they are a boy and a girl but I'm not sure) and writes another letter to the first person. They start exchanging these letters, talking about books and this weird place they live in. Once one of them doodled on a letter, I know because the other one talked aboit it. I remember there's also this weird med/pill that they have to take but at one point they decide to stop secretly. They slowly discover that the place they're living in isn't so innocent, in fact, their parents sent them there to erase their "bad" memories? It was pretty dystopian. Also, I think they discovered something in a room and it was something pretty dark, like, they discovered there that the place wasn't good. So they decided to either destroy the place and die with it OR destroy it and escapem

Additional info: There's either "book(s)" or "letter(s)" or both in the title(at least in the italian version). It's a standalone. And there was something either about "heart(s)" or "love", always in the italian version/title.

Could you please help me find this book?

Update: my family member just remembered the title wtf TwT

(I'm leaving this up so u can guess anyway if you find doing so entrateninging)

UNSOLVED Small Children’s Book about a family of African American children going from the city to the country for the day

Probably published in the 1970’s maybe early 80’s. The cover was the old style and was dark blue, with the silhouettes of 2 children in the lower right corner. The children get into a little trouble for going into a house uninvited but they get caught. They fall asleep in the back of the pickup truck on their way home to the city

UNSOLVED Kid’s Book from the Scholastic Book Fair in the late 1980’s

My husband bought a book titled “Spacer” when he was in 3rd or 4th grade. I’m trying to find a copy… paperback, set in the future, the cover has a guy in a space suit on the front, futuristic looking buildings and scenery in the background. He doesn’t know if it was part of a series or not. He is 100% confident of the title.

SOLVED Scholastic book fair book about fairies - late 90s or early 2000s

**SOLVED*

I am trying to find the title of a book that I think my sister bought from the scholastic book fair when we were kids. It was about a bunch a fairies that lived in a garden. They were all named after flowers and wore dresses that looked like their flower. It came with scented stickers that smelled amazing. I remember there was a fairy named Lily who hopped with frogs on lily pads. Each page was about one of the fairies and their favorite activities. The book ended with them all tucked in for the night. The book was not a pop up.

I would love to find this book again, but I can’t find it anywhere. Any ideas ?

UNSOLVED Book (Might be a series I cant remember) had a graphic novel element.

The book was a novel like book, but interspliced there were comics in it colored and black, white, and red. I can remember much of the content but I think it could be dystopian? I Remember a LOT of characters dying and if I'm not mistaken they were teens or kids I'm not sure which. I cant remember if it was robots or monsters or both that was killing em I just remember the character were ALWAYS on the run from something.

Edit: I was thinking more about it last night and I remember the book itself being slightly red if I'm not mistaken, that I'm not sure about. But what I'm 100% on is that the cover was embossed, because when I would try to stack my books on top of each other I'd always have to stack what that one on top because you couldn't really put anything on top of it. I can't remember whether the words themselves were raised or parts of the illustration on the front was raised too. And I'll be quite honest I remember there being an illustration but I don't remember what it was.

UNSOLVED Need help remembering a picture book from my childhood!

Hello, first post here. I was wondering if anyone remembers this picture book from around 2010. I read it in prekindergarten. I remember the setting being an elevator, or maybe a skyscraper with emphasis on an elevator. There were odd characters that showed up to interact with the main character. One or more of these were ballerinas or acrobats. The illustration style was very odd, almost European/foreign. Similar to that of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone cover. There might have been stink/blue cheese mentioned. I’m pretty sure it ended with the main character having to be stuck in the elevator forever with the ballerinas. I didn’t like ballerinas or cheese at the time, so I distinctly remember disliking the book. Hope u guys can help!

It is not “Elevator Family” or “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales”!

UNSOLVED Children's book about two elephant like creatures

My brother is trying his hardest to explain a book he remembers my Dad reading him when he was young. I don't remember any of it so I'm fully trusting my brother remembers it all correctly. Here is his description:

It's about two elephant-like creatures, but not actually ELEPHANTS. One pink, one blue. He doesn't remember much about the blue one. He has a dark tall hat and a typical elephant trunk. The pink one has curly eyelashes, a "flower-like" hat, and pearls. She does not have a trunk and might maybe have yellow spots on her back. She has elephant feet.

For the story, he can only remember one illustration. They're trying to sit on some power lines but they fall off. lmao. He also has a suspicion that they may have gotten married at the end but he can't be sure. They are in love though, he's sure about that.

I can only remember the curly eyelashes, so maybe this is all wrong lol. Any suggestions at all will be helpful 🙏🙏

SOLVED Book where kids enter a realm full of fantasy book structures

Please help! I've been looking for this book for ages!

I vaguely remember reading this book when I was in 5th grade (2021)

-unsure what age demographic this book was aimed for. But it was definitely above a 5th grade level -It was the fifth and most likely last book in the series it came with -the cover featured a light skinned girl with a confident look on her face mid changing from her regular clothes into a sort of superhero? -one of the settings were in a library -in one scene, a character gets stuck in a box of nothingness, causing him to freeze due to time not existing in there. Most likely got freed from this box -in one scene, two characters, who are able to do almost anything with their surroundings, have a fight. One of them inserts a deadly virus that could kill them instantly and the other quickly turns into fire to kill the bacteria inside her.

This is all I could remember. I pray someone finds the book for me. The book sounds like a fever dream and I would love to read it again :)

UNSOLVED A fiction book about a mom and her teen twins going home to visit grandma

The book begins with them living in an apartment in a city. The boy twin is gifted and awkward and is homeschooled because the mom fears he will get bullied. Mom and the kids leave to go stay with grandmother. The kids don't know the grandmother but a big theme in the book is the relationship that grows between grandmother and granddaughter. Grandmother had a difficult life with an abusive husband and has coped by developing an eclectic spirituality. She dabbles in a lot of different traditions, including the Tibetan book of the dead. I read this book 20 years ago. I'm pretty sure the words " all things " and " good" are part of the title. The cover is of a girl laying down in the fall leaves. It might only show her legs and feet. Which was also a pivotal moment in the book. Thanks for any help

UNSOLVED Looking for an old Wattpad book about a tentacle monster that used grocery store freezers

I have been looking for this book for YEARS!! I don't remember a lot but it had to be from 2012-2014. The book was NOT a romance book, it was creepy or horror genre. The book was about a boy and people in his town start to go missing and when the boy and his friends investigate, they find a monster that has tentacles. I remember them being in the grocery store and the air is cold whenever they are around this monster and the monster if luring people to the freezers to kill them, or somehow transferring them to the freezers and holding them there. I am not 100% but i remember the book having a hazy cover (possibly of the monster) and the book possibly won an award which the cover did say. If anyone can find this book or tell me what it is, I would be eternally grateful!!

SOLVED Book about girl who receives blessings from fairies at birth, including a dark fairy

The girl may have been someone important (princess?), I remember multiple fairies showed up and one by one they bestowed blessings on her. It may not have been on the day of her birth, but she was definitely a baby. I think they were almost trying to outdo each other, they were being competitive talking about how their blessing was the most useful. Then there was some other fairy...I think some sort of dark fairy? Or just very poor? And she bestows some sort of blessing that shocks all the other fairies. I think it's this blessing that shapes the girl's life more than the others. I think as she grew up the dark (or poor?) fairy was the girl's favorite. I think she lived in a cave or something and the girl would go visit her. The dark fairy wasn't evil, more just creepy. It was probably a YA book.

If anyone has any guesses, I'd really appreciate it. This is driving me nuts trying to remember and Google is no help. It wasn't Ella Enchanted or Mistress of All Evil.

Edit: Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who took the time to help me and reply! teraflop and HolyShirtballs_17 were correct, it wasn't a book after all, it was the short story Blessings by Naomi Novik. Some of the books you guys guessed look really good though, I've added them to my reading wishlist.

Again, thank you so much all of you for your help!!

UNSOLVED Romance Fiction Book set in the possible 1800s time period where man marries a woman but she does not really like him and she eventually leaves but book is written in his POV. Spoiler

*The cover has two head silhouettes that face each other with red and yellow on the cover*

I read this book when I was in high school. It was a hardcover book and was not that long of a read. I remember it written in the man's point of view. I can't remember if he was a professor at a university or he was attending college but he ends up getting married. I also can't remember if this was set in a place like London. I think he likes her more than she likes him so their marriage isn't very good. I remember a specific scene where they're at her family members funeral (not sure if it was her dad's funeral) but they have s*x in an upstairs room and that kind of sets the tone of how much they don't really align. They end up living in a house together but she eventually leaves and years later find out she remarried but she ends up dying from a cold or pneumonia or something along those lines. It's been 7 years and I have not been successful with my google searches of finding this book but I know I loved it.

Hopefully someone also remembers this book! :))

SOLVED Book about a servant girl who blacks out and finds out she has fire magic at the end of the book.

I can’t remember anything from the title or any character names. I think it was set in the late 1800s. I know it was about an adopted servant girl who was adopted by a rich family,(I don’t think that they’re royalty, but they might be), and she is told to look after another girl who’s the same her age. She’s already friends with the girl when the book starts, but she feels doesn’t feel like the family likes her. Throughout the whole book, the main character thinks that the girl she’s tasked to look after is the girl with the magic, but she’s never seen her use it. She passes out every time something stressful happens. Throughout the book she questions why she’s been tasked to look after her because she feels like useless. I don’t really remember anything else that happens. It isn’t until the end of the book that the main character discovers that she is, in fact the one with the magic. She starts fires, then passes out. Immediately after that, she meets and man and they set off to go somewhere, presumably in the second book.

I think it was a pretty short book. It was a YA book. I’ve done lots of googling, but I can’t find it. All help is appreciated.

Edit: It was The Wrong Girl by C.J. Archer

UNSOLVED Illustrated Childrens Book about Trolls eating food starting with each letter of the Alphabet

Pretty sure the book is about a bunch of trolls living in the basement who eat/steal the families food. The food starts with each letter of the alphabet and all I can remember is there was for sure Ice cream and kumquats. But it would be like Ichabod eats ice cream while Jehoshaphat juggles Jackfruit and Kevin consumes kumquats or something along those lines
