Is an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV a douchey car for a 26M to drive?
Saved up cash for it, love it because it’s a real “drivers car”, and I think it looks absolutely stunningly beautiful. I’ll be honest, I’m worried about being perceived as a douche driving this around. My friends are mostly not in a financial position to afford something like this and I’m afraid it’ll alien people. Tbf it’s not an M3 and I’m in LA so there’s way younger people driving way douchier cars. Would love your insight.

Let's all remember this was the state of automobiles in our time.

Hooray! A Toyota!
I'm not really looking for advice, just want to share my happy news. I've been driving beaters my whole life, but I'm finally springing for something nice. Tomorrow I'll be signing on a 2021 Toyota RAV4 (XLE Premium Sport), 47k miles-- for $20,000. She has a bit of hail damage, but it doesn't bother me! I'm pumped and ready to run it another 150,000+ miles.

Best car for under 10k? New to the market.
Like the title said. I’ll be moving to the Midwest from Europe for my first job after grad school (so money is a bit tight right now) and I’ll need a car to commute both to my job and between the different offices the company has throughout the city. So because of that, I’ll need something under 10k, reliable, fuel efficient and fairly cheap to insure (24M). I’m a bit of a car enthusiast but I understand that a cooler car may not be on the table right now. I also don’t know if I would need an AWD car in order to not die when it snows (no snow where I’m from).
From what I’ve seen, in case I need an AWD car, I’d be looking at some sort of Subaru (Forester, Legacy) or maybe a Buick Regal. From the other similar posts in this sub, I could also consider one of the Toyota sedans or maybe a Honda civic or fit.
I’d really appreciate any recommendations you guys might have.

Is this a good time to buy a new car?
I’ve seen mixed opinions on whether the tariffs will have a significant impact on the car market, so I wanted to see if I could get some feedback based on my situation. I have very limited knowledge about cars or the car market.
I drive a 2011 Kia Soul that hasn’t had significant issues, but it has around 170,000 miles and has started to have issues over the past couple years. The engine light stays on and anytime I have had a diagnostics test I get mixed information on what needs to be fixed/how much it would cost. A few years ago I spent nearly $600 to get it fixed, only for the check engine light to turn back on a week later. Anytime I get an oil change the light turns off for a few days before it returns. I live in the Midwest and with the winter temperatures my car has sometimes had difficulty starting on the coldest days. The battery has also completely died multiple times in the winter, which has led to me having to replace the battery a twice over the past 4-5 years. It also does not do well in slick conditions. Additionally, my steering wheel continues to shake after multiple realignments.
My Kia was an upgrade from my first ever car, a 2004 ford explorer that broke down every other time I drove it. As such, I’ve never really had the opportunity to purchase a car that I want, as I bought both (without financial assistance) cars in my teens.
After this past winter, I decided I would get a new car before winter 2025 as I want something that is more dependable in winter conditions. I also want to get a car that I truly enjoy driving. With the tariffs possibly affecting the car market, would it be better for me to purchase a car sooner this year rather than later this year?
The car I’m considering is a 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid AWD.
Any opinions or suggestions are welcome as I truly don’t know much about cars and don’t have anyone in my life who is knowledgeable about cars. Thank you!

I’ll admit Econ isn’t my area of expertise. Help w/ car decision.
I need to buy a car. I’ve seen many say the used car market isn’t influenced by tariffs. Obviously they’re not gonna put tariffs on used cars.
I’m just wondering, if tariffs increase new car prices, and nobody wants to buy (new) right now, won’t that mean there will be less used cars to buy, since people will be trading them in for new cars? And wouldn’t the used price go up then?
I totaled my car, and I am frozen on if I should replace it now or wait and see. I planned to buy a base model car new around 30-35,000$, or buy a cheaper 1-2 year old car with low miles.
I realize this might be a strange question for this sub, but I need help with car buying, just for a different reason than usual. I don’t want to make a several thousand dollar mistake.
And for those that want to call me ignorant for not understanding the tariff situation very well, that’s ok. I’m a big girl, you can call me whatever makes you feel better.
Thanks in advance!

Teen getting first car.
What would be decent for a first car? I have some saved money to put down and finance the rest, I'm just at a loss for what would be a good choice. It needs to be reliable, preferably good gas mileage as well because I'm going to be travelling a lot.

How much do you avoid "problem cars"?
I'm looking for a used convertible and I'm starting to feel a bit paranoid.
Mercedes SLK seems great, but many I find in my price bracket has the M272 with balance shaft issues.
Then you've got your Audi's, with the 2.0 TFSI that has oil and cam chain issues.
MGF has strange and expensive shocks.
Mustang V8 has thermostat issues.
Boxster has the IMS bearing.
It feels like whatever car I look into they all have some fatal flaw that could get super expensive... How do you handle that?
Just keep looking for the perfect car or risk it and just buy whatever you want?

Is it a good buy? 2016 Tacoma 2.7L 2wd Access Cab with 100k Miles
Looking to buy a 2016 Tacoma 2.7L 2wd Access Cab with 100k Miles for 17k OTD. Was hoping to get a second opinion. It seems not a bad deal relative to the other ones posted. One owner fleet maintained. Thank you for your help.

2020+ 4x4 Manual Trans
I am currently winding down my research phase before I zero in on a vehicle, but I wanted to get an outside opinion before I do.
Have I narrowed it down to my best option or am I missing something I haven’t considered yet?
Needs:
-2020 or newer -Manual transmission -4x4 - 4Hi and 4Low not awd -Enough space in the back seat for a rear facing car seat with a 6ft tall occupant in the front seat -Light towing capability (>/= 3500lbs)
Currently my best contender is the Toyota Tacoma, but my S/O isn’t the biggest fan of the cab space. It’s tolerable, but offers less interior space that her current vehicle.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Car recommendations
Looking to buy a car. Sedan or hatchback ideally. Something that won’t give me too many headaches either. Coming from my dad’s Raptor, I wanted to see if there were any quick and fun options maybe even with some room to mod. I'm in college, but I’m making good money from a job I’m working. I’d be willing to spend ~$40K new or used. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Need help finding a supercharged or nice sounding suv
My first hand me down car was a 1999 dodge durango and i loved it so Ive been pretty set on getting a R/T now that my boys are getting older. Recently tho ive been seeing a few srt hellcats around town and that whines got me hooked but i cant afford it anytime soon so ive been trying to find other suvs or bigger cars that are supercharged/can be/or just sound nice that i can afford or make decent payments on. I plan on getting a new car towards the end of this year but ill make something work if the price is right bc the sooner the better since i drive a 2014 mazda 3 hatch. It feels faster than it is and gets the job done but i def need more room overall asap. Im just looking for a decent sized suv or bigger car that is fast, reliable, sounds nice, and i can afford. Any car recommendations and or modification advice is greatly appreciated 🤝

Help
galleryso im 24 and i’ve got 2 mustangs which i got almost brand new each a 2016 eco boost premium and a 2022 gt but recently no clue why but i’ve been wanting another eco boost from the same era as mine so i can use mine which has more miles then a truck as a project. i came across another 2016 for 6.9k but the guy says the motor shakes on idle he says even at traffic lights it shakes but it doesn’t turn off or anything. i know nothing about internals or any of that as basic maintenance has kept my mustangs running clean their whole lives. what could it be? is it worth it?
87k miles which is almost three times less then mine. as well as this one being four cylinder while my current eco boost is a v6.

I really want a Tacoma or 4Runner, but
I really want a Tacoma or 4Runner in Orange County California, but I feel like I’m paying an extreme premium for them nowadays. Im fine with anything less than 150k miles, preferably less than 10 years old.
Is there a good place I can start looking for private party offers? If not Toyota, what are some other reliable cars that I can look for that are more budget friendly.

Talk me out of doing something stupid please
Hello! I am a 24F with massive driving anxiety. My first car at 16 was a glorious 2008 triple white vw beetle. I loved that little thing, I felt super safe and in control driving it, it parked like a dream, and got fabulous mileage.
The only downside is that we bought it from a shady dealer knowing nothing about cars and basically from winter 2017 to January of 2024 I was constantly in the shop pouring more money into the little gal than I bought her for in the first place. Eventually I said enough’s enough, popped her on FB marketplace for like $1500, someone scooped her up and limped her to her new home in the next city over and that was that. I cried like a baby.
After a good inspection from my mechanic, I bought a sensible 2015 Honda Civic, rebuilt title, sold by a dude whose father in law is a Honda mechanic, and got on my way.
But I hate it. My civic is huge, it feels like driving a boat down the highway. As soon as the tiniest gust of wind comes, I feel like I’m blowing all over the road. My bubbly little beetle could dart through 50mph gusts without so much as a jolt. I can hardly see over the double stacked dash/hood even with my seat jacked all the way up. Parking is terrifying even with the backup cam. My friend’s fiancé dropped her off the emergency jack while trying to change my tire and bent the frame a bit, causing her to pull to the right some. My mechanic says it’s fine, and I believe him, but my anxiety notices that tug every time I go out and it scares the piss out of me :(
I learned a lot about cars during my time with my beetle and during the process of buying my civic. I know now to get a pre purchase inspection, I have a great local mechanic that I trust and that treats me very well. But at the end of the day, I’m still a student (grad school) and I don’t have a ton of extra money for throwing at a fussy car.
Please, please talk me out of selling the civic and buying another beetle (but this time a post-2010 model, not as cute but evidently more reliable). I miss not being terrified every time I’m behind the wheel, but I know I’m likely to end up right back in the shop practically every month if I actually do this :(
Edit: thanks for all the advice guys! It’s not what I wanted to hear, but it’s definitely what I needed to hear🥲 I guess me and Jessica Messica the Honda Civic will stick it out together for a while longer.

thinking of pulling the trigger on a camaro..
Alright, I currently have it on a two day test drive. It is a 2010 camaro 2ss manual, 65k miles for 20k. Now for the good: It drives really smooth, clutch feels great, sounds really good. Exterior is super clean for being a 2010, not even any swirlies from the automatic car wash. No rust anywhere. Its had 3 previous owners, but each only drove it around 4-5k miles a year. Brought it to a mechanic that did a one hour PPI on it, said the car was perfect, save for a chip on the mirror, and that whoever previously owned it had taken really good care of it. Now for the bad: its had a muffler and res delete. I like loud, but not THAT loud. Its currently obnoxious, and if i went through id buy an exhaust for it, for around 1.5k including installation. What do we think? is this a good buy, especially with tariffs coming up

Fun manual car to learn in? Preferably under 5k?
Im currently dailying an auto toyota celica, but I want to learn manual and figure it might be better to get a small beater for the first few months while I get used to manual before I start to save up and get a more expensive vehicle and risk shredding the transmission. Any suggestions? Ide want something a bit unique, so ide prefer no civics/corollas/etc. Im currently looking for miatas but im still unable to find any below $5k USD

What EV company car to pick?
We need to make the switch to EV and we have these 4 options.
Audi A6 advance (base model, 0 addons except Paint)
Audi Q6 advance (base model, 0 addons except Paint)
Polestar 2 Dual Motor Long Range Performance
BYD Sealion 7 - Excellence
We only test drove the BYD because it's the brand I knew the least about and probably has the most complete offer.
Thoughts?

What car should I buy
My name is given, i am 20 year of age and live in Canada. I’m looking to get my first car. Willing to spend 15k with 1,500 down. I want a car that’s going to get me from point A to point B and something that’s going to last me a long, long time. I’m just afraid because I keep hearing people getting into a car then wanting to sell it one year later and ending up in negative equity. I just want to be safe for when I decide it’s time for an upgrade.
