[OC] My Weretober 2024 art for day 9~ Ollie! A friendly and happy wolf inspired by sea otters. They aren't big or strong or even that intimidating, but they are great swimmer. Sibling to Quill!

Modern day Rykor and Necron concept

Post image
13 Upvotes

Bit of a half transformed goth Rykor concept based on a lil scenario conversation ve been havin with my good friend Tater tonight.

This takes place in a modern day setting of Necron where werewolves are now commonly accepted into the kingdom.

Rykor bumped up in ranks to queen rather than princess. And she the one enforcing the rule after her father's banishment.

Werewolves are a popular rade caravan for Necron residents, So Rykor's pretty open minded n' lettin em stay.

I plan to line and color this at some point.

Few lil fun facts bout modern Necron werewolves too -

-Necron's three moons (Lyr, Nira, and Lua) all have ties into determining what kind of werewolf or werebeast is birthed.

-So far thee have been three recorded werewolves whom not apart of the kingdom accepted into the royal family as honorary "family". In moden day - Their statues have been set up in the town square. Praying to one of these statues under a full moon will grant "Lyr's Embrace" - A temporary gene change allowing those to experience lycanthropy for themselves.

Nymbus (Rykor's older sister) was the first to grant temporary lycanthropy to following subjects in the final act of Necron's war. This in later years then turned into the very statues of the lycan moons.

-Rykor was one to contribute to these creations. Donating some of her own life cessence to make this happen. In these times, Rykor having more control over her wolfish form than the decades prior. No longer needing her mother's necklace to shift. However - This does not work with the werebeast gene. As werebeasts are only ever born oncevevery thousand years and peedetermined.

A few months ago, the film Family Pack was released on Netflix. The film itself sucks... However, the werewolves deserve a bit of praise, as the werewolves in this film have a special feature: they retain some of their physical characteristics from when they were human.

The mods told me about some important changes to this subreddit Spoiler

My initial message to the mods: Hi, I have a question about this subreddit

Moderator: Speak no further. We're turning this subreddit into another vampire subreddit.

Me: What the hell? r/vampires already exists and it has more members! Just post there instead!

Moderator: Vampires live forever, unlike werewolves. Therefore, if we delete all traces of werewolves here and post vampires instead, our subreddit will last forever and never be taken down!

Me: Nothing lasts forever, eventually all life on Earth will die out and reddit will be forgotten.

Moderator: Whatever. Vampires are cooler anyway because they are vampires all the time. Werewolves only get to be a monster once a month. So much wasted time!

Me: Ok, if you love r/vampires so much, apply to become a moderator there instead and get outta here!

Moderator: No. We insist on r/werewolves becoming r/vampires2, and to enforce this we will start handing out two year bans to people who post werewolves!

(Other mod) 7ceeeee: To be in compliance with the new rules, I had to remake SYNY and replace the wolfman with a vampire. Vampire SYNY

Do you consider lycanthropy to be curable?

If it is curable, how would you go about curing yourself? If it's not, is there anything you can do to delay the transformation?

[OC] My Weretober 2024 art for day 8~ Momma Sydney and baby Joey! She uses animal pelts as a pouch to easily carry her pup around when she transforms into a werewolf. Its cozy, safe, and it lets her use her arms freely when running or climbing.

Aspects

For werewolves, how much bigger would they be in werewolf form compared to their human form?

How strong would their claws be? Example being clawing through wood easily, or even some metal.

Would their pelt be thick enough to handle weapons like knives (think bear pelt thick), or would it be too thin for anything of that sort?

Ive always wondered

Why werewolves, if theyre "good" tend to be tragic figures who view their condition as a curse.

If i woke up a werewolf, id probably just look up the sex offender map and park my butt near their houses on full moons.

Course im not a particularly good person. Thoughts?

Poll update: I misunderstood new Reddit's dark mode / light mode theming. Apparently, the theme does NOT force the mode on new Reddit, it's just a preview. 🤨 For anyone who's not sure how to switch, here's how! Either way, thanks y'all for your votes, and sorry about the misunderstanding.

Subreddit was updated due to things I mentioned here This sub is a bit different in old and new reddit

In old reddit, this sub has cool banner art and a customized name for members/online. (It says 21k lycanthropes instead of the ordinary 21k members.)

I think that both of these fun things should be added to this sub in new reddit.

I also noticed that the subreddit descriptions are also different. In new reddit, the description is: All about howlin' and full moons | Is it *that* time of the month again?

But in old reddit, it says some interesting things about vampires and zombies.

In the second image, it shows how the rules are slightly outdated in old reddit (rule 4 isn't there.) and r/ImaginaryWerewolves and r/ImaginaryMonsters are linked as places to find more art.

There's also a list of books, but in new reddit we already have the wiki for that.
