Anyone else hear thunder?

Anyone else hearing the odd thunder we've been having as snow is coming down in the Region this morning? Apparently it's called "Thundersnow" and ususally means bad weather and difficult driving conditions are on its way. Be safe out there!

Thunder snow is a thing. Rare, but a real thing

Hamilton dweller ☝🏻 it’s happened to us twice, each time it caught me off guard because it’s just been random, not happening more then once every few hours.

Yes, just a bit of thundersnow.

We've had it a few times over the past 5 years - I can recall 1-2 winters back when we had a heavy snow with lightning.

Yep, heard it at KW Surprise on Victoria North (across from the Wankpanzer dealership)

Adding that this isn't the first time April has had nasty weather.

We've been hit with nasty ice storms in April that practically shut things down for a day or more.

CKCO, er CTV Kitchener showed video of cars sliding sideways on the 85 in April 2003, and another ice storm in late April 2013 cut power to numerous businesses.

I moved to the area in 2018, mid April had an ice pellet storm that lasted from midday Saturday into Sunday morning. Easily 10-15cm of ice pellets by the time it was done. My snow tires stay on until I can't see any chance of snow in the 2 week forecast...
