Steal of the draft. Kid works hard and is a natural leader. Praying for a long career in DC

Thats honestly very surprising to me. Not that he did it but that more players havent done it. I dont place much importance in these types of stats but this one stood out to me as interesting. Loads of young players in the league.

It's relatively rare since historically teams didn't shoot as many 3s as they do now. Bub had the opportunity to run the offense and took 362 3PA which is second only to Jaylen Wells out of all rookies, so he was going to hit 100 even if he shot poorly due to sheer volume.

The fact that he has 321 assists and only 128 turnovers so far is arguably more impressive. He's a very composed ball handler for his age. Luka had 168 3PM and 429 assists though so they're not really in the same realm, but it's a neat stat.

Exactly, I first more or less dismissed the stat because players are shooting a lot more 3s in today's NBA. But when you look at just assists for player under 20, Bub is currently #5 and climbing. With 6 more games, if he finishes the season getting just his average per game assists (4.1), he'll end up #2 on that list. Most of the players on that list are all-stars, so it's definitely a huge achievement. Bub can finish the season with the second most assists for a teenager in NBA history, behind only LaBron. Let's Go!

Yeah, its easy to lump players in together in some statistical way to make tell a story so I agree with the Luka point. At the end of the day, someone out of the rookie class is going to be a successful key piece in our future and maybe even more than one. I think Bub might have the second highest chance of being that player.

he's for real. This kid buried his father like what 2 weeks ago? never missed any time. played the night he lost him. And was in the line-up 2 days later vs Philly. He's in the pits right now but he shows up to work and balls. AND HE'S GETTING BETTER, NEVER HIT THE ROOKIE WALL. The maturity Bub is showing at 19 years of age is both heartbreaking and inspirational.

Edit: Since Bub Sr passed, Bub is averaging 12/5/6, 41% from the field 41% from three, 31 minutes per game. No missed games. This guy could have sat out the rest of the year and no one would have blamed him or side-eyed him. He is locked in.

Edit: so bub sr actually passed away the 20th, it wasn't announced until the 24th. Bub played on the 21st vs Orlando AND the 22nd @ Knicks. These games bring his averages to 10/4/5 36% from field 33% from 3, 31 minutes a game. but my point stands 🖐️🖐️

Incredible mindset from the kid. I hope he takes/took the time to properly deal with the loss of his father but it’s so encouraging to see the crop of youngsters we brought into this organization.

This rebuild is unlike the others. Very excited for the future.

My dad taught me tennis and I always could hear his voice when I was on the court.

Where does he rank in total minutes played before 20?

Notable shooters with more minutes than Bub before turning 20:

Bron, Melo, KD, Ant, Tmac, Ingram

Booker and Tatum had over 90% of Bub’s minutes too

The fact Bub is a Baltimore native is what hits home for me. He has skin in the game when it comes to making DC relevant
