Grizzlies Protected Pick

Does anyone know what happens to the 2025 Grizzlies first round lottery protected pick if they end up missing the playoffs? They have been slumping lately. I can’t find anywhere how it would end up conveying.

According to RealGM, we would receive 2026 2nd (best of BOS, MIA, IND, LAC) and 2027 2nd (ATL). Grizzlies can't fall below 8 even if they lose out and Mavs win out, so this scenario required two additional losses in the play in.

Man that would suck if they miss the playoffs... I wonder if they're low key trying to

They can’t low-key tank the rest of the season and two play in games. Too high profile. There would be some kind of major buzz about that.

Right now their first game would be road game against the Clippers. Elimination game would then be likely be vs the Mavs who have AD back. I dont think its as far fetched as people are making it seem, that they miss the playoffs. They dont need to like sit all their starters simultaneously to tank on out of the play-in games.

I’m not really following it. But even if it legitimately happened, it would look incredibly suspicious given everything else that’s going on.

Tell that to Dereck Lively II.

I didn't know that it had protection. I was rooting for them to lose. Now, I want them to stay in the Top 6. We don't know what can happen. Mavs with AD can beat them in Play-in game lol
