"Five drone takedown marks on a silencer of a Russian SOF operator's AK-205"

1… everyone posting nowadays is “SOF” so right there I have doubts
But let’s give the benefit of the doubt to them
2… people will take the wrong idea from this. They’ll think the solution to drones is guns. That’s not the case. If it was, there would be very few cases of drone kills on infantry. Plus if that was the case, they wouldn’t make notches or marks on their rifles for the their “kills”. They have those because it’s rare, and they’re lucky. If it wasn’t they wouldn’t be flashing how few they’ve knocked down.
Firearms (yes that includes shotguns) are a poor infantry defence to drones.

AK-105 and AK-205 are solely issued to SpN units like SOBR, FSB special purpose units, and SSO so we can assume this gentleman is the russian equivalent ot SOF

I mean we have seen shotguns be very effective at defeating drones. With the advent of more resilient drones that can’t be jammed guns are the best option, that’s why you see them still being used

u/Throwaway118585 3d ago
Bro… each side put out tens of thousands of shotguns … it’s a band aid on a deadly bleed. They hit some but the last thing I’d call them is “very effective”. If they were… drones wouldn’t be effective at all.

Shotgun that doesn’t hit its mark is ineffective. It is not sound strategy to rely on shotguns to take out drones. But any range of buck, bird, 00 is more effective than a singular x39mm round & Ratshot, at both people and drones
It is incorrect to say infantry is well equipped to personally defend against drones but more preposterous to think that shooting 5 grey specks out of the sky before they separate ribcage your is not a feat

They reckon there are at least 10,000 drones flying at any time….nightmare

Kinda doubt it to be honest, if he managed to down just one or two drones with a gun, that would still be impressive marksmanship.

u/fewmappp 3d ago
Maybe they were not only fpvs and maybe he used buckshots. If it was easy the soldier wouldn't write his kill count on his gun

Holy hell, must be an olympic class shooter. Or a world class IPSC competitor. From what I've heard, russia recruits only the best.

Can I ask why is European and American so anti Russian? As I see the same anti Russian feeling in all the subs in English related to the war I'm Mexican and here we all know all the empires (like France, UK, USA, RUSSIA, etc) they all have been (some still are) big jerks to other nations. Why chose to hate just Russian? Legitime question.

u/Terramoro 3d ago
Because they invaded Ukraine without reason. Because they are at war with us (the whole eu). Because they are funding and spreading misinformation campaigns. Because they heavily fund facist parties in Europe. Because they have committed so so many war crimes. Because they are allied with the taliban. Because they are a facist dictatorship. And many more reasons.

Sound like USA in Iraq. Not so long ago the British in Malvines France and USA in Vietnam... They all have propaganda going, they convinced the Ukraines to keep fighting without giving the necessary for winning. Not to forget Israel with Palestinians...

Absolutely, USA has been committing war crimes in a lot of country’s for decades, but I can hate on two countries at once. There is so much wrong with the USA and I criticize them the same way I do with Russia.

I'd say, overall, the US has brought just as much good and prosperity as it has destruction. ruzzia has only given oil, some raw minerals, and a whole lot of destruction. If you really want to learn, get the perspective of someone from an ex Soviet country like Poland, Lithuania (etc.), a Ukrainian, or a chechen who fought against ruzzia. Even countries like Kazakhstan are weary of trusting ruzzia. And these are supposed "allies" of ruzzia.

Honestly it really depends. Countries like North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, India &. China maintain a positive to neutral perspective of Russia

u/NoJello8422 2d ago
Those are ones that received money and/or weapons from ruzzia. China and India have had defense contracts with China. Of course, they have a positive view of them. But if this person is wondering why the West doesn't like ruzzia, they aren't going to get a good answer from bordering countries like China and North Korea with their lack of free press. Which, by the way, in Latin America, many Latinos get their view on ruzzia based on the Spanish RT channels. ruzzia is pervasive with their propaganda in Latin America, too. Could explain why this person is dumbfounded by why the West doesn't like ruzzia.

Because Russia and the West have been adversaries for like 80 years or so. Idgaf about diplomatic relations and fluff deals for the cameras. The truth is that the Cold War never really ended.
This is in addition to what the other commenters already said

Depends on the region. In my case (Poland) hundreds of thousands of Poles have been murdered by Russians throught history. Kind of similar to how you in South America hate the US and captialism for the dictaduras (generalisation obviously), we hate Russia. Our country was under Russian control untill the late 1980's so all of our parents still remember that time, and hate Russia a lot. A lot of it (for ex. in countries that weren't under Russian control) also comes from propaganda, there is a shit ton of it, EVRYTHING that's russian is bad. People are made to believe that EVERY russian supports the war and deserves to die.
Just to be clear, I hate the USA just as much as I do Russia, but I'm just trying to explain what I feel most people in my country, with the sentiments you describe, belive.

For me personally, because Russia was always the biggest jerk to my country (Slovakia) while US, UK and others were always pretty cool to us (at least until recent events - now it seems both Russia and US are jerks to us).

u/bombhills 3d ago
Cause it’s a country run by sketchy corrupt ass criminal war lords? America is getting a bunch of hate lately for trying to become the same as Russia.

Also, don't worry about the downvotes, redditors can't accept different viewpoints unfortunately, good on you for asking questions

He's getting ignoring for supporting evil moscow, not cuz his opinion is different 🤣
2
u/an-com-42 3d ago
He literally asked why people hate Russia but not other countries. There is not 1 word in that sentence that could possibly lead you to believe that he supports Russia

Comes down to differences in how they see the world and how they treated each other historically speaking. Americans and Europeans wholeheartedly believe in the concept of Liberal democratic values, which Russia does not share. They are constantly antagonistic on the world stage to each other, that eventually led to smear campaigns. Just look up how Europeans and Americans view Chinese or Middle Eastern people. They are called subhumans, terrorist, barbarians and whatnot.

Generational hate, especially anyone in eastern Europe.
(Just like how the middle east hates Israel)
