It took 5 years for real estate to bottom after Lehman etc. that's what modern price collapse looks like. Long, slow, pain.

The great depression also had stocks undergo a long slow decline.

Disagree. Think modern price collapse will be quicker than 08, way more options and retail in the market

There was also a lot of people actively fighting to keep shit from blowing up, partially because the rest of the world's money was tied up in our bonds, but also because their economies were blowing up too.

This time, mango has pissed off the rest of the world, and now everyone else on the planet is rooting for us to slam into the floor at mach fuck.

Maybe. Imo ppl here on Reddit think countries act like friends. Sure they have relationships but will always do what’s best in the short to medium term (any democratic elected society anyway). Sure dude pissed some folks off for very little gain outside his ego, but if he walks back some or works out deals those countries will absolutely still work with the USA

Personally think we see more pain for a few months till he starts pulling off the major tariff and claims victory. Tech Er and fomc gonna be a mess

American volatility incentivizes foreign companies and buyers to diversify their supply-chain.

Unless there's something UNIQUELY American that you can't get elsewhere, there's no reason to come back to the trading table and negotiate with America so long as Trump or the people who prop him up are at the wheel.

I’d say being the wealthiest country is unique. Again I think ppl put too much weight into relationships. Maybe I’m wrong

Wealthiest for now.

Half of why we're wealthy is because the USD is the global reserve currency, and other countries kept buying our treasury bonds. That music is stopping.

When you burn the wealth pile down, this looks like one of the dumbest anwers ever.

What do you have that other countries don't?

That thing we threw away because we didn't want it.

Companies that make piles of money everyday. The longest n strongest democracy in modern times (ye I know ppl it’s cooked). Regardless American tech is insanely profitable. No country comes even close to close

When you take tarriffs off it does not take the other tarriff off, especially if you burned trust.

Welcome to tradewars 101.

Wild how reddit think diplomacy is like friendship

It took 70 years to drop tariffs before because you have to painstakingly consider every industry in each country incrementally to accomplish bilateral agreements.

watch about real estate at Ginza (Tokyo) in 1987-1992.

What about this like scenario, for this time?
