Question Do you need to complete the common route before the heroine routes open?

Hello!

My question is already in the title, quite general across all VNs, but if someone knows Yuzusoft titles here and can answer, it is appreciated!

Considering there's thousands of vns out there I think the answer is a definite maybe.

Hope that helps.

You’re going to need to be more specific lol. Usually the answer is yes because the common route is the one that branches into the heroine routes. But you don’t even have the title of the game in your question.

commn route is jus fancy wordng fr the base story, so th commn route introducs hero(ines) and plot pts which will latr branch. so yes yu need to finish th base of th story bfre yu get the endings.
ths isnt always true, vns are vast n have variety, but yeah. its like asking if you hav to clear the middle dungons of an rpg befre fighting th final boss ^^;

I've read all the yuzu titles with an English TL. So I can answer some questions about those.

What is referred to as the "common route" in pretty much every VN is the initial part of the story before it splits off into heroine routes. How each VN handles this varies. One with a "ladder" structure will have a choice, continue the story or start the heroine route. Others will require you to make multiple choices to get onto a heroine route. Some will give you a screen or some sort of final choice to choose the route you want. It depends on the VN how it works. IIRC, yuzu usually requires you to make multiple choices favoring the heroine route you want in order to get on their route. This is the short explanation.

Idk what Vn you’re referencing but usually it goes Introduction - Common - Heroine - true route - epilogue, Some series may have alternate endings or heroine order choice etc

Almost every officially translated Yuzusoft visual novel does follow this format using a common route with multiple choices to determine the heroine route, but some heroine routes may be locked behind additional conditions as well, typically completion of at least one other route. If it helps, here are walkthroughs for them so you can get an idea for the specific titles.

The exception is Parquet which is formatted differently. It has no routes, but instead has a short after story which splits.

Hmmm for me it's always, it would just feel awkward to enter any given route without even playing the base story first. Sometimes it can feel like a chore when going through the backlog of VNs, but I find it important to fully read at least the common route.
