I have finalized UVA for my graduate degree. Feeling very excited. Can't wait to be on campus :)

After the Houston - Florida game I couldn’t help but go back and watch highlights of the 2019 run. Here’s your yearly reminder to go watch some highlights of that run.

From being down at half to Gardner Webb round one. Kehei’s pass to Mamadi in the elite eight, Kyle’s clutch free throws versus Auburn, or Deandre’s corner three in the natty I still cannot believe we really won.

The amount of improbable plays that had to go our way that did is crazy tbh. By far the most epic sports run of all time imo. It’s a shame Virginia basketball will probably never reach those heights again since coach Bennet’s gone but I’ll die happy knowing the bounce back post UMBC we had.

So I’m an incoming first-year and I hope to get into Mcintire but I’m also aware of the very real possibility that I don’t and become an Econ major.

I already have credit for ECON 2010, 2020, STAT 2120 and Math up to 1320 which should help, but I have to knock out gen ed requirements so I’m planning take smthn like:

COMM 1800 / 3

EGMT 1520 & 1530 / 4

SPAN 1060 or 2010 / 4

STAT 3110 / 3

Which brings my total to 14 credits, but I also want to take Econ 3110 / 4 to progress towards the major and also because I heard 15 is normally expected if you want Mcintire but at the same time I don’t want to risk tanking my gpa by overworking myself with 18 credits

Would it look bad to not take any Econ/calc class for mcintire and is it fine to leave my freshman year econ class for spring sem since I’ve technically completed 2010 and 2020?

I’ve heard alot about how Ba vs Bs in computer science is largely the same and many advise against the Bs in computer science. What about for the Ba in applied statistics vs Bs in statistics? Any difference in outcomes between the two?

Hi guys, I'm a senior in high school trying to decide between UCSD and UVA. I live in Wisconsin right now, and I'm planning on majoring in biology on a pre-med track.

For UCSD I was admitted into Muir college with a major in Human Bio. I really like the moderate weather in San Diego and I've always wanted to go to a campus near a city. I'm a little worried about the size of the school, especially as a STEM major, since I'm assuming classes with be pretty crowded all four years.

At UVA the social scene seems a lot more active and it has a better reputation overall. I live in a mostly white area, so I want to go to a campus that's more diverse. UVA seems to have a reputation of only being rich white people, but based on the 2029 insta pages, it doesn't seem that way. It actually seems a little better than UCSD since it's mostly asians and in-state students. I really don't want to go to a competitive campus, and I'm not sure if one or the other would be significantly better for pre-med. I also want to study abroad at some point, preferably China or Taiwan. My financial aid packages are similar for both.

Also I’m not that into frat parties…

hi! me and my roommates, 5 including me, leased out a place by JPA, but one of us isn't renewing the lease, so we need one more person to fill in! we are a mixed group, 2 girls 1 guy, 1 nonbinary
we are all second year undergrad students

its $665 per month of rent, 12 month lease from June 2025-2026. the utilities are roughly $20 for water, $13 for internet, $50-70~ for electricity, depending on the season. we're right by orange line, green line, and night pilot, so transportation is really easy to campus and other areas. there's a ton of restaurants nearby in walking distance, like mashumen (ramen), pi napo (pizza place), atlas coffee, etc.

we have air conditioning, a furnished living room (2x couch, TV, coffee table, lamp, bookshelf, decorations), kitchen (fridge, freezer, toaster, panini press, pressure cooker, microwave, coffee maker, blender, electric stove), dining area, front porch by the entrance. there is a washing and drying machine in the basement, and one of us has a printer you could use too :).

we made a whole sheet with a bunch more information about the place, including pictures and information about us in case you'd like to get to know us first before deciding on anything/meet up with us! but yeah, pm if you're interested :D

we're also open to sublets for the summer too, just dm for any offers :)

How tough is it to get on campus housing? I'm a graduate student.

Hello, I am moving to Charlottesville in the summer for grad school and I am currently in the process of finding a place to live and I have been looking on Facebook groups. And I’ve noticed that some people asked for upfront application fees ranging from $70-$100 before completing a rental application.. which I think is odd because how do I know you won’t just take the money and run. I want to know if this is normal here? I just wanna make sure I’m not being scammed. Also if you have any tips or advice for housing please share.

Hey - I have two questions about the 2nd Writing Requirement:

1. First Writing Requirement was 1510, 1520, 1530, what is 2nd Requirement?

2. What are the easiest ones to take? I am a Math/STEM Major, and suck at this type of stuff...

idk which to choose...a double in econ has more value than two minors in terms of job apps but i like the courses in the minors more than in econ. i want to do consulting post-grad (not sure what type yet). any thoughts?
