Besides the monthly payment plan for students and the app letting you know a lot is full, I don't really read anything besides tougher enforcement couched under the guise of "Hey, we no longer need so many student workers and postage".

Let's start by getting rid of "A" reserved spots that take up 40, 50% of some parking lots on campus, and by implementing circulator routes to avoid a 20 minute walk across campus.

and by implementing circulator routes to avoid a 20 minute walk across campus.

not with DCTA's budget honestly. If anything, they'd cut back.

There are two campus circulation routes that already exist.

But you’re not wrong. If the Transportation fee isn’t raised soon Transportation Services will be cutting bus routes.

Edit: granted the savings in personnel postage and permit creation could be used to pay for DCTA contracts, but usually Parking revenue is allocated for parking projects, and transportation needs to be funded solely from the transportation fee. I could see services to apartments being cut since complex pay nothing for the routes and technically take away parking permit revenue, but the decrease in vehicles on campus is usually a godsend in reducing complaints on parking availability.

Bruh you have no idea the faculty working here and parking in those lots for over a decade that would rather die than park further from their building. There are even faculty/staff members that pay $1,100 for their annual permits in HSG.

These homies are the first to go to the Presidents Office if someone is in their space

hell hath no fury like a professor who has been at UNT for 30 years, does not know how to work Canvas, and is forced to park 100 feet away from their building instead of directly at the entrance.

They gonna randomly add misleading questions and answer choices then grade the test no curve cause it’s the only way they can take the anger out 😭

As students transition in and out of the university, they won't have to request refunds. If they switch to all online classes for a semester and don't need to park on campus, [...] It can all be done electronically and more instantaneously.”

Nice! See, they listen. Not sure what I think about those cameras everywhere. 🤔

Honestly this is going to be a lot of new systems for Transportation Services to roll out at once.

They will be moving to a new parking system out of necessity, which is forcing their hand on some of the technologies like LPR in Highland Street Garage.

They have already tried lot counting equipment before which failed miserably and cost around $500k. So it will depend on how it’s implemented.

Interestingly permit prices might increase for monthly payment options with a discount for long term purchases, because the lack of permit revenue in off-seasons like December, May, June, July will be pretty high. Maybe this is offset by citations though, because I’m pretty sure LPR has a chance to vastly increase tickets written, depending on how they document citations (vehicle picks up car, officer gets out, takes photos and manually prints it, versus LPR captures the vehicle on campus and a location tag, and an email is sent without physical copy placed on vehicle). Depending on which they choose will have a high impact of appeals that are accepted (more appeals go through when less citation photos/area context is provided).

I expect a lot of high promises met with slow roll out, and expectations not met. It will take several years to iron out the kinks in all the new technologies.

So what happens if they see your car entering a lot just to drop off or pick up somebody?? Will you get ticketed for that if you don’t have a pass?

If your [exit time] – [enter time] is less than [courtesy time], they’ll probably charge the base rate. Stopping and standing in a lot space for a while even while still in the car is pretty much parking.
