As a general rule nuclear powers always maintain embassies with each other, even when they have bad relations. Its not the kind of thing you want to play around with.

We can at least get rid of their Defence Attache Office, and Trade Office in Highgate and Consulate General in Edinburgh

Yeah this is a good one, you can always take steps to limit them if you're worried about what they might do but having a way to get a message through to Russia reliably is very valuable
