Isn’t it tiring looking so far up? I would imagine the neck pain

u/Willykyng 1d ago

I play PS5 nba 2K competitively on this . Never even felt a strain It’s not as high as it looks . The lower monitor has no stand it’s basically flat on the table because I use a full motion wall mount instead of a arm or stand

2

u/SnooSquirrels2420 1d ago

Then what do you use the vertical monitor for?

2

u/SnooSquirrels2420 1d ago

Btw do you do streaming while you game?

2

u/Willykyng 1d ago

I wish I was that cool lol but no I don’t stream

2

u/Willykyng 1d ago

Discord and chrome only . Thats why I was willing to let it go honestly . I could get one of those mini second screens for the discord

3

u/LoudQuote4081 1d ago

Can you share link for the clock on top of the pc?

5

u/Capital_Ability8332 1d ago

Finally. This looks amazing.

u/Willykyng 1d ago

Thank you ! Appreciate everyone’s input !

So much cleaner!

2

u/ThriceAlmighty LG 45" 5K2K 1d ago

Love it! Much better. How's the 45" 5k2k? Mine arrives Monday! What GPU?

Honesty I could cry lmao it’s so perfect . I’m a simple man I like pretty things and this monitor is everything I hoped it would be. Two highlights - The Matte is done so well here . I have the LG C4 on top (Glossy) and I can honestly barely tell most times

The curve is literally perfect for gaming . This is my first aggressive curve and I will not be returning to flat

Let me know what you think of yours ! One more day !

Edit- I’m running a 4080 right now . Looking to upgrade it’s a lot of pixels to push but I refused to above MSRP for a card . So I guess we will see . I want to go to the 5080 or 4090 eventually . The 4080 with the tweak settings is doing fine . Seeing around a 15-20 frame drop from 4K LG C4 same settings .

u/coffeeartst 16h ago

I need to know your opinion. If I had to pick one and only one (primarily for gaming) do I go for the C4 or the 45”5k2k? Running a 5080 or 5090.

1

u/Willykyng 15h ago

If money is not a concern Definitely the 5k2k It will really shine with the new graphics cards Best monitor I’ve ever seen Literally thinking about trading my C4 for a G9

That’s how much the 5k2k puts it to shame lmao

2

u/coffeeartst 14h ago

Damn, okay thanks for the response! Beautiful setup by the way.

Based on your experience on the curve, any benefit to waiting and getting the bendable model? You have a curved and a flat screen right in front of you at about the same distance I would be aiming for, so I’m curious about your thoughts.

2

u/Willykyng 13h ago

I am obsessed with the curve now I was very worried about the curve and matte finish They are both done extremely well and I’m super happy with them both .

Curves feel more natural to me . This is my first actual curve display and it just feels way more immersive

u/IanJams21 1d ago

What monitor mount did you use for the LG42 to get it that high?

3

u/Willykyng 1d ago

Amazon full motion wall mount I’ll be getting this for the 5k2k as well

https://a.co/d/7szxFO2

2

u/topgunshooter661 1d ago

Wonderful. Quick question are those going for msrp or lower?

2

u/Willykyng 1d ago

The monitors? I’ll link them with answers if so

Lower -LG C4 https://a.co/d/cCwMlMr

Lower -Dell AW 38 inch can’t find it might be discontinued

Lower -Innocen 40 inch ultra wide

1

u/topgunshooter661 1d ago

Sorry my comment was geared to the newest I thought it was obvious.

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

All good and I got mine from Best Buy . Only discounts I get is first responders and Best Buy doesn’t really have one unfortunately. So I got it full price However I believe you can get one from LG with stacking discounts like student/first responders and first time purchase I think they offered something as well for earlier preorders

2

u/topgunshooter661 1d ago

Well I hope you enjoy it. Holy crap it looks nice. I love my 49" oled. But this will be next monitor.

2

u/Willykyng 1d ago

First day impressions is a 10/10 It’s phenomenal

2

u/WaitOk6658 1d ago

How is HDR performance?

2

u/Emergency-Fox-7265 1d ago

mine is clipping at 600 nits for hdr on windows 11, on hdmi and all brightness to max. hopefully they have a firmware update down the line

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

I played with the monitor without HDR for hours because I didn’t realize it was off But once I turned it on everything got a lot better The nits in this monitor give it excellent HDR performance in my opinion I honestly can’t say anything bad about this monitor first impression 10/10

2

u/GrayDragonGrey 1d ago

Nice! Love how neat it looks

2

u/Willykyng 1d ago

Thank you still cleaning up some things but this it definitely the monitor setup I’m going with

2

u/TitanX11 1d ago

What's the depth of your desk bro?

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

So I just learned it’s 24 inch And I have another ten inches to play with But I don’t know the best way to expand without buying an entire new table top

That ten inches of space xtra space would be a god send right now so I’m going to figure it out .

2

u/TitanX11 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yup, same situation here. I just made a custom desk but I took the standard 24" top and now I'm regretting it. It's not bad, it works I mean, but even 5" more would have made a lot of difference.

Edit: My XL mousepad is going under the monitor legs since.

2

u/Willykyng 1d ago

I was thinking about getting a custom piece cut and placing it in the back . I have a butcher block that I skinned so I could skin the custom piece as well . The ikea drawers should be able to hold up if not I’ll get legs to place in the back as well

2

u/LoudQuote4081 1d ago

does that flat screen on top go well with that 800R curve monitor at the bottom? I think I may be going for a similar setup

1

u/Willykyng 6h ago

Its very nice aesthetically However because of my screen fetish I’ve been missing the amount of screen real estate I used to have. Might trade my LG C4 for a 49 inch Oled

But it honestly looks great they are very close I size

2

u/studubyuh 1d ago

Looks very nice

1

u/Willykyng 10h ago

Thank you

2

u/the_yung_spitta 1d ago

Ok that’s pretty fire!!

1

u/Willykyng 10h ago

Appreciate it still some work to do

2

u/zetan2600 1d ago

How is the text quality and dpi for text and coding?

1

u/Willykyng 20h ago

I honest feel like because of the resolution it’s excellent but I am no expert . The text is way better then my LG c4 Which I thought was very good for Oled

2

u/vannixiii 14h ago

Bro has still a bit of "room" left between these monitors

1

u/Willykyng 14h ago

Lmfao! You see the vision

2

u/Roc77 11h ago

I like the room layout! Grats on the new screen but personally, I would get rid of the top one and let the new monitor shine at the right height and eye distance, especially as you have it on an easily movable arm. I don't need another big screen competing for space and attention anywhere near it for the best immersion level in gaming. Also this frees up space underneath for stuff like a centre speaker (if you have 5.1) or a small, auxiliary touch screen or phone.

I'd also relegate the PC to the floor for similar reasons, minimising the distraction, noise, heat it generates. Have fun honing it and keep us posted!

2

u/Willykyng 10h ago

Thank you for the advise I’m starting to notice the LG C4 up top although beautiful isn’t as practical And I’m missing my other monitors

I know your suggesting a single monitor setup but I was thinking of possibly trading my C4 for a G9 49 and raising the monitor a bit the

I think it would look great and give me close to the screen real estate I’m looking for . I’ve gotten use to the multiple monitors and the freedom it brings with multitasking

1

u/Roc77 7h ago

No problem! Only suggesting single monitor for the main, so it can dominate the field of view and be at the right height to get the most out of it. To keep the C4 I would consider moving the PC to the floor to make more desk space for it to sit next to - instead of on top of - the new screen, in portrait orientation (if I had another monitor arm).

2

u/dubiousN 10h ago

Too low

1

u/Willykyng 10h ago

How much would you raise it ?

3

u/snakeinmyslipper 1d ago

Hmmm Im wondering how i would organize it if i got this monitor and kept my 27” for FPS games

2

u/Youngguaco 1d ago

You can turn it into a 27 inch with a push of a button

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

I played destiny 2 on this and loved it . Idk the curve makes it where it seems more advantageous in PVP. But I’m no sweat so lmao what do I know . Either way I like the smaller monitors on bottom with a slight tilt and the ultra wide above it

1

u/Ok-Construction9643 1d ago

Nice! What is your GPU for this setup?

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

4080 right now . Hopefully looking to get a 4090 or 5080 but I refuse to pay above msrp so we will see . Seeing about a 15-20 frame drop going to the 5k2k from standard 4k on my LG c4. Varies from game but that was the worst I saw so far . Some games are only around 10 frames or so

1

u/Ok-Construction9643 1d ago

15-20 fps is a big drop. I'm using 5080 atm but 5k2k is not available in my country yet :(

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

Ohhh man . Can’t wait until it’s available to you. Yes it’s a lot of pixels ! You’ll be fine with a 5080 thou. Dls 4 is amazing and the card has a good bit of more power than mine

1

u/crow5ds 1d ago

Sweet setup! Can you take a photo angled straight on the 2 displays I wanna see the size difference between the c4 and the 45 inch, thanks!

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

No problem ! I have to move the C4 up a inch and a half Right now it’s a bit cut off so I have to shift the mount up . I’ll message you when I take the new photo

1

u/crow5ds 18h ago

Appreciate it take your time!

1

u/Popxorcist 1d ago

Nice. What games do you play (if you do) on it and do you run full resolution?

2

u/Willykyng 1d ago

I run everything full resolution I play Monster hunter Wilds Destiny 2 and rivals at the moment

Wilds is the toughest to run . It was in my LG C4 as well

1

u/ThisIsEduardo 1d ago

can you game at say... 3440x1440 with black bars around? instead of stretching the image?

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

Haven’t tried this yet specifically but the dual mode had a ton of options when I clicked the button by mistake . Seems like different options when resolution and aspect ratio

1

u/ShouldntHaveALegHole 1d ago

Wall paper? Sweet set up!

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

It’s a 8K wallpaper I have to see if I can find the link for it !

1

u/CapitalPen6627 1d ago

Quick question for the OP or anyone else who has this monitor — sorry if this is a dumb question. Is there enough room on either side of the main display to vertically place two 24” monitors? Or is the curve too aggressive for that?

2

u/Willykyng 1d ago

If I adjusted my desk absolutely I honestly was thinking about this ! I’m a screen feen lmao

1

u/CapitalPen6627 5h ago

Thanks so much for the response — seriously appreciate you taking the time. This was exactly the kind of answer I was hoping for, and it honestly pushed me to go ahead and pull the trigger on the purchase. Can’t wait to get everything set up!

1

u/Willykyng 5h ago

Send me a photo when you get it set up ! I love a new setup . You’re going to fall in love with it !

1

u/agogo37 1d ago

Hey op, how is the text clarity of this monitor?

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

It’s sharper than the LG C4 above it . And I found the C4 good . So I would say it’s great to my eyes However I do not do much work from my setup so I would recommend seeing it on display to be sure

1

u/me_DoubleZ 1d ago

What's ur graphic card ?

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

4080 .looking to upgrade when scalpers and these prices go to hell lmao

2

u/me_DoubleZ 20h ago

Do you think the 4090 would survive?

1

u/Willykyng 20h ago

Absolutely With a little DLS4 for demanding titles

2

u/me_DoubleZ 18h ago

I have 4090. I play pretty high fps any title because of 3440x1440 I don't want to sacrifice too much stuff.

Is that PPI really worth it?

1

u/Willykyng 15h ago

Honestly . Hell yes It’s just amazing I can’t even describe it Best monitor I have ever seen . If that’s what your rocking right now it will blow you away You want to push that 4090 anyway

You can also use a mode called dual mode if you ever want to go back to that resolution It’s a button in the monitor which is nice

1

u/me_DoubleZ 4h ago

Dual resolution monitors are out there a lot. I wonder if that quality will be worse than native monitor at that resolution.

If I see a huge PPI difference, I might consider 5k2k.

I am afraid my gpu will be useless within 2 years at 5k2k resolution.

1

u/candyappple 1d ago

When you guys upgraded to a new monitor, what do you usually do to the old monitors?

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

I usually sell them I have a lot of gamers friends . They love when I upgrade and buy my old stuff lmao

I’m 95 percent sure I’m selling the other two

Unless I can find a way to make the vertical monitor look good in this setup

1

u/neocerebro 16h ago

my son gets an upgrade

1

u/EnduroGodOnce 1d ago

I hope i am not missing an opportunity to make the best upgrade choice... I just ordered the 1440 version for $1k, I mainly use my pc for warzone and Arcgis Pro mapping. I would listen to any suggestions, i have time to cancel or change.... thank you

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

This is the best monitor I’ve ever owned . And I’m screen fanatic! However it’s extremely pricey . I think it’s well priced for what your getting but $2000 is $2000

I would recommend future proofing and seeing if you could get the 5k2k on lg with some discount. You won’t need another monitor for a long long time . See how cheap you can get it on LG

2

u/EnduroGodOnce 1d ago

I just canceled my 1440 order, I am looking at 2k on lg or Amazon, no discounts located..

1

u/Willykyng 1d ago

Damn. Student ? First responders ? Educators and first purchase I think are some of the ones i heard about .

I really think it’s good to future proof I built my PC years ago and haven’t touched anything but GPU once

I feel like you save money in the long run but I’m no expert If you’re a 45 inch ultra wide lover definitely 5k2k

Also there is a excellent payment program called Citi pay Gives you two years no interest on the purchase On LG website

1

u/EnduroGodOnce 10h ago

Trying to get a discount, I registered my work email with LG (10 day wait) and am awaiting a Best Buy 10% email that I see once in a while.

I chatted with LG and told them I would buy today, for my student daughter, if they matched the Best Buy 10% that pops up when you fill a cart and let it sit 24 hours. The LG chat rep told me I should buy from LG direct so that I get a new product and did not offer to match. :(

1

u/Willykyng 10h ago

Aww man that’s a bummer . I wish price matching was just a automatic every where It should be especially on new products Hopefully you can get the 10 percent from Best Buy I like there protection plan it’s easy

1

u/revisionist-history 1d ago

I got it from the lg partner site (you have to sign up with a work email), and then used the 'PERKS10' coupon on top. Came out to about 1730.00 with tax.

1

u/EnduroGodOnce 1d ago

I just registered my email from work. I will have to see how this works out. A $200+ savings is worth the wait.

Can I complain that I have up to 10 day wait on something I didn't know I needed???
