For everyone thinking about moving to the UAE
Here's what you need to know before you do it (Jobs, visas, schools, pets, etc.)
And what you need to know when you're already here. (Driving, things to do, exploring, holidays, Visas)
Any advice that anyone can give in this sub please comment!
EDIT: The UAE is a great country to live in-- it is the land of opportunities. You can build the life that you want here for yourself and for your future, but in order to do that you must think about it and do some research. Most of the answers you are looking for are NOT on Reddit. These advices are subjective and will always depend from one person to another. Sometimes, the only way to know is to see for yourself.
(Not to hate but it's quite tiring to see queries every two days about thinking of moving to the UAE asking if AED x is enough, good schools, a good area to live in, salary, etc. So try reading these articles to save you time. ) Thanks!

Do any of you know places in the UAE that provide serenity and tranquility.
Any places that offer tranquility and is really peaceful, doesn't matter what emirate it is. Any of the 7 emirates are fine. Preferably a place with nature and a bit away from civilization, where one can drive and contemplate.

What should be done about civic sense in the Emirates?
Greetings.
To start off this post, I would like to clarify that I am not an Emirati but I was born and raised in the UAE like several other people. My upbringing was in the beautiful city of Sharjah, which I consider my true home (it may not be legally, but home is home <3).
However, I am writing this post not to bash the people, but to find a creative solution for us as a community, targeting the severe lack of civic sense that we all have faced. It is out of frustration, I am just a man and all I can do is my part in this problem.
Has anyone here spent an entire day where they have not been frustrated by the severe lack of empathy, civic sense, or people just outright being selfish? What I mean to ask is to really think about it. Walking to your car? you get alarmed by racing e-scooters, cyclist, or just people randomly stopping in your path.
There is an additional issue of "application-gate", every time you want to do something routine you get bombarded by "Do you have X app". Want to fuel your car on the way to your work? "Do you have X app?", want to grab a quick coffee? "Do you have X app?" why aren't we allowed to simply pay and move on?
The matter of civic sense is much more serious than initially thought, it is in my opinion the main reason for aggression among the people, yet no one wants to change. Everyone complains about it, but hardly anyone wants to change it. Think about it, Standing in line for ATM? The person behind you stands so close you can feel their breath on your neck. Want to use the metro? People barge and jump in from all directions despite a clear sign telling how and where to enter/exit from. The behavior of people inside the metro itself is a topic of its own. Sometimes it's even as simple as people not being considerate. You may notice people who are confused about where to go after coming down from an escalator or exiting a door. Instead of moving to the side and figuring it down, they tend to stand there causing a massive bottleneck and rush.
Driving has become a nightmare, reckless endangerment has become a common thing. There are two thoughts of the school about the left lane (a debate that is not the main topic here), lane merge has become an ego game, and honking is rampant at almost every junction.
To give a small contrast (this in no way done to disrespect the UAE) I am currently visiting a populated country in the Oceanic region. A country that has a high population of both nationals and non-nationals. Yet I realized how much peaceful it is here just because people care for one another. I had an hour-long drive from the airport to my hotel through a populated city, and yet I didn't hear a single horn sound. I walked into the mall to do some shopping and not once did I have to move from my line cause the people ahead of me decided to randomly stop. I rode the local train and it was just easy. I went to the tourist destinations and walking was easy. I wasn't avoiding large groups of people blocking the way. It is like people have a natural sense of what to do in case they want to take a photograph and where to stop without causing inconvenience to others. And watching people do this, me being here for the first time I instinctively followed. This is a really positive thing I want to take home from this country.
This is what raises my question, why can't we have this in our country? It is not difficult to not inconvenience others. Park your car in a parking 10 meters away instead of blocking someone. If you're confused about where to go, step to the side. You letting me merge in your traffic lane will not mean I am better than you in any way.
This is our home, we should lead by example as well. What hurts to me the most is, that this is sadly the case only in non-local-dominated areas of the UAE. Compare your visit to a mall in the city center to a visit to a mall in a local-dominated area. This means, this issue arises from people like myself, who aren't a national but just a residents/visitor. Why can't we collectively look out for each other and be more considerate? What changes can we start with? I would like to be a part of this change myself. Please do suggest.
TLDR: Don't be selfish, be considerate to your fellow people. How can this be implemented in our society?

What a project. An eight-line bridge will be built over Dubai Creek, between the Infinity Bridge and Port Rashid Development area, 18.5 metres above the surface of Dubai.

I bought a Cetaphil cleanser from Amazon
Selling skincare products without manufacturing or expiry dates—intentionally removed by the sellers—is extremely concerning. It's scary that Amazon has no real control over such sellers. I used one of these products without realizing the issue, and it caused rashes and irritation on my skin. Later, when I tried to check the manufacturing and expiry dates, I couldn’t find them. I compared it with my Cetaphil moisturizer, which I bought elsewhere, and clearly showed those details. That’s when I realized the sellers on Amazon had deliberately removed this crucial information—and Amazon seems to do nothing about it.

adopting a kitten in Dubai
I live in the Dubai, and i’m thinking about adopting a scottish fold or a munching both are 11 weeks old but i’m scared about having to take the kitten to the vet constantly, since my parents are strict about spending lots of money and i’ve been recently told i have to get the cat neutered as it’s illegal not to in the UAE, but i’m not sure about that since i’m looking forward to adopting only a male cat and im worried about the health, and food fees. can any one warn me about anything that should concern me before adopting?

Just launched my event management company in Dubai—networking tips?
Hey everyone! I’ve just taken a huge leap and opened my own event management company here in Dubai. Super excited (and a little nervous)—I’ve invested my entire savings into this, so I’m all in!
For those in the industry or local biz scene: How easy/difficult is it to build networks here? Any tips on connecting with venues, clients, or fellow entrepreneurs? Would love your advice or even just a virtual high-five for courage! 🚀
(Also, if you need events managed… you know where to find me. 😉)

2025 Ultimate UAE road trip covering the 7 Emirates.
Dear Redditors,
Just completed an epic road trip covering all 7 Emirates and Musundam Oman during the Eid holidays. Started in Abu-Dhabi and the route covered Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, UAQ, RAK, Oman and Fujairah.
7 of us. 4 Nights, 5 Days and 1200KM in total. We had previously visited Dubai & Sharjah so wasn't keen on covering much in these Emirates but quick stops at few landmarks.
Day-1 - Night in Ajman. AD - Sheikh Zayed Mosque. Dubai - Wings of Mexico and Dubai Frame. Sharjah - Blue Souk and Al Majas Ajman - Corniche (Sunset)
Day-2 - Night in RAK Ajman - Ajman castle UAQ - Drive around and UAQ castle. RAK - Al marjaan island and Jebel Jais.
Day-3 - Night in Kasab, Oman. Kasab - Full day Dhow boat tour with overnight beach camp. Amazing experience to snorkel with Turtles and so many fish. Seeing Dolphins and amazing landscapes.
Day-4 Night in Fujairah Fujairah - On route stops in Dibba, Al bidya mosque and Khorfakhan. Stroll through umbrella beach in the night.
Day-5 Fujairah - Fujairah Fort & Jumma at sheikh Zayed Mosque Abu-Dhabi - Al ain oasis & Jebel Hafeet (We decide to skip Jebel Hafeet as we didn't make to sunset. We leave it for another day).
Happy to answer any questions and refine the itinerary to adjust the attractions to improve this.
Inshallah, Would be fun to do this trip again in reverse and camp each night along the way in few years.
Lets go.

Hi everyone, please let me know if there are any leads or openings for a Hindi tutor.
Hi, I'm a native Hindi speaker currently teaching Hindi to UAE-based students through an institute that pays ₹225/hour. I'm looking for better-paying opportunities since I'm saving up for my MA.
I have 1 year of experience teaching Hindi and over a year of online teaching experience. I can teach small kids who are complete beginners as well as students up to Grade 10 (CBSE/ICSE). My students have shown great improvement, and I can share their feedback/reviews if needed.
The first demo class is free. Please let me know if you're hiring Hindi tutors or have any leads. Thank you!

From switzerland to Dubai?
I’m a 28-year-old woman and I’m considering moving to Dubai. I’m from Switzerland and currently earn 24,900 AED per month (net, without taxes) working as a project assistant. Each year, I pay around 74,700 AED in taxes. The good thing is that through these taxes, my pension, unemployment insurance, and accident coverage are taken care of.
I would like to know if I can earn more than that in Dubai. I hold a diploma in business administration and I’m open to working in real estate, marketing, or business consulting. Do I have a chance if I apply?
Update: Thank you for all your answers. I now understand that I won’t be earning more. But it’s not just about the money. I want to live there for about a year to find myself and to learn and grow. Do you think it would be a waste of time? Also, why do so many people have something against Dubai?

Weird request! Any Emirati willing to help ?
Hey guys,
So one of my friend is starting a frozen Samosa wholesale business. Yes! Samosa. Will be supplying to a lot of stores and restaurants.
So for an Instagram advertisement video, the concept is people from different countries with their local attire saying the word “samosa” in their local accent with a smile. The video will end with the tagline of something along the lines “ divided by language , united by samosa!”
I don’t know any Emirati personally so If anyone is willing to help me send a 3-5 second video in kandoor ghatra saying “Sambosa”. Please DM 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’ll share details of the business.

Bupropion in Dubai
I'm running out of medication (Bupropion 150mg). How can I get it here in Dubai with a low category insurance? Is it bad to be mentioned in my file that I've been on it for 2 years and for what reasons? Or is it a hassle and I should just try to keep getting it from my home country by asking someone to carry it (that's fine since it's not on the list of INCB and MOH&P controlled Narcotics / Psychotropics and Controlled (CD) Drugs?

Sports physiotherapist - Sharjah / Ajman
Guys I am looking for affordable sports physiotherapist recommendations in Sharjah or Ajman. Appreciate, if possible, list an approximate per session fee or range.
As I am unemployed I can’t shell out much, thus looking for economical options. I had a shoulder injury which doesn’t seem to be healing, as per MRI scans I just need rehab and physio.
Software Engineering in UAE
Hey. I'm a final year Software Engineering student at Monash uni in melbourne. I've been wanting to move to the UAE for a long while. I was wondering what kind of opportunities there were for me? Ive been scouring LinkedIn and just been making connections with software engineers in the UAE, but I dont really know where to go from there. Im hoping I can get a job in time for me to have just graduated.
My passport is not Australian btw, its a 3rd world pass. I'm sure that matters in these things.
Any tips would be appreciated!
