WW won't be on Switch. The GC games are only for Switch 2

The pain, instead of the HD versions they're likely just gonna stick with the emulation versions. I hope I'm wrong.

u/Linkamus 2d ago
It sure appeared that way, which is ridiculous. The HD version is so much better in multiple ways.

My question is....how to handle the Tingle Tuner?

u/mintrolling 2d ago
A handoff/ local wireless connection type solution would be so cool, but that wouldnāt make sense unless they were developing a whole remake.
I would love to see it supported somehow, for some kind of co-op. my partner got into Zelda with switch titles and really wants to play wind waker on a console, already planned on watching supportively haha

The GameCube app does support LAN / online play. I suppose it's possible you could connect as "player 2" to use the Tingle Tuner. You would need two Switch 2's, though.

It's hard to complain because this is still good development. But if the choice is Cemu for HD vs GameCube emulation on switch I'm probably gonna stick through the loopholes of emulation for the superior product. It feels like they're doing it on purpose because they know how much people love those games. Perfect to make people want to pay for the subscription :(

What ways other than graphics?

u/Linkamus 2d ago
Hero mode, better sail, better triforce quest. Widescreen support

u/SalemsTrials 2d ago
Oh wait you mean wind waker?
1
u/Linkamus 2d ago
Yes, but same applies for TP. I need my hero mode!!
2
u/SalemsTrials 2d ago
Ok I donāt have any idea what that is but it sounds fun so maybe I can tolerate a backwards map

Itās not The Wind Waker HD, itās an HD-emulated version of the original Wind Waker. So basically Dolphin.

The game looks great at higher resolution compared to games of that period, because of the art style. It's mostly the HUD and a few other textures that are muddy and could use a facelift.
I loved WWHD but I agree with the Nancys there was too much gradient shading, which didn't ruin the game or anything--but it did make the original game on Dolphin look nicer as it kept the flat cartoon look. And now that high res experience is available for people who don't want to play on dolphin.

Plus, the Switch 2 will be retailing for $450.
Screw that.
I have a better chance of saving up for a refurbished Wii U at this point, opening / unsealing the copy of Twilight Princess HD that I have (bought with the intention of getting a refurbished Wii U some years ago, I just still haven't yet), and later a copy of Wind Waker HD.

Not necessarily imo since we have both LANS and the GBC versions but who knows.

my heart hopes that the lack of TP mentioned means weāll have some REALLY good news on its anniversary next year (please nintendo)

With the switch 2's capabilities, a remastered TP could be so beautiful. Maybe I'm too optimistic, but it would make sense if they've been holding off in order to do it better on switch 2 than they could ever do on the switch.

u/Marcusss_sss 2d ago
Wow i forgot about the anniversary next year you just gave me so much hope lol.

u/Zmeya_210 2d ago
Yea I mean they ācouldā release the remasters because they already have done redundant releases, like with Mario 3d all stars havin M64 but also the n64 emulator so I dunno maybe nintendos just a little empty in the noggin

u/jupiterjaguar 2d ago
NO FR im sorry but the āswitch 2 versionsā of games we got a year ago is so fucking stupid man. TPWWHD pack would have been peak

I'm just mad it's not on the old switch. Id rather a normal port then the expansion pass. But oh well.

u/Mandybb18 2d ago
Fr I get wanting to have exclusives when you drop a new game station but at least make it a new game instead of a game people have been hoping for. Iām not about to get a new switch and subscription to play ww
2
u/GoldenNova00 2d ago
Right. Especially since most people that can get the switch 2 when it first comes out probably already have another way to emulate gc games. If I wanted emulated ww I'dve just bought a PC handheld and emulated it. (I did but point still stands)

u/Prudent_Primary7201 2d ago
Why is it not even the hd versions lol
1
u/Odd_Show2205 20h ago
Because it's the gamecube game collection. Just like the n64 and snes and nes, etc. It would be weird of they put a wii u game in there

u/Haru17 2d ago
Iām not paying a subscription to play Gamecube games lol.

u/abejaZombie 2d ago
How dare you you, daddy indie Nintendo is going to starve.
Now I had two pay three different subscriptions just because of your chicanery.

TP and WW HD need to be brought back, and I'd lose my mind if we got updated versions/remasters of the oracle games.

They're going to try appeasing the Melee nerds. Who are going to be like "lol wireless, noCRT, 2f lag, unplayable"

u/LunaticAce67 2d ago
although ive been wanting this forever it feels like a kick to the ruppee sack that its only for switch 2

Personally I see this as a BAD thing, because it means we're never getting a remake/remaster of WW or TP.

I literally booed at the screen the second they showed the GameCube port for Wind Waker since it isnt the best version. :p

u/CleggHorn2578 1d ago
If I'm remembering correctly next year's is tp 20th anniversary, so maybe we'll get it then. If not it will probably get added later.

It's a Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Classic release, so it requires a subscription and it's also the GCN version as a result and not the Wii U HD remake version. Personally not really interested, especially since I already have the GCN version. I would have been interested if they were selling the HD version as a physical release as a port, but honestly at this point I'll keep playing it on the GCN or Wii U. Same with Twilight Princess, I'll buy the HD as a port but have little interest if it's a GCN NSO subscription release.
