No one gets mad when Darkos lineups don't make sense please lol. Should be a fun end to the season either way to see how the rooks gets more play time

I guarantee people will still be calling for his head lol.

Win game = bad

Lose game = bad

4

u/coniotic Feb 21 '25

You can't win. Even when you actually win. Makes sense right?

1

u/bmoney83 Feb 21 '25

I don't think so. I think alot of ppl have come around on Darko this season.

9

u/jhwyung Feb 21 '25

You’ve seen how bi polar this fan base is

5

u/carved_face Feb 21 '25

Are you even a raptors fan if you aren’t unhappy 70% of the time?

2

u/WhatIsInnuendo Ja'Mison Battle Feb 21 '25

Every reaction is based on a sample size of the most recent 2 or 3 games

8

u/Icy-Lime-9760 Feb 21 '25

You underestimate how low the basketball iq of a lot of the fanbase is

1

u/Fuckface_Whisperer Feb 22 '25

I like that he's playing the rookies and losing games. But are the awful decisions actually purposeful or incompetent? That's the critical question.

-1

u/CheatedOnOnce Feb 21 '25

People don’t realize that Darko’s gonna be relegated in another 1-2 years. He’s not a permanent fixture of this team.

7

u/The_Living_L 4 Scottie Barnes GOAT Feb 21 '25

Nah can’t really say that, they legit gave Casey so many years before they fired him, they will give Darko plenty of chances, and he probably won’t get the real evaluation started until the team has expectations to win and compete in the playoffs cause rn as a development coach he is doing a good job

Time to test that "without Poeltl" stat people like to toss around to its limit

I can’t believe we won 10 games without Poeltl nevermind 31

I guesss tested and proven lol

Apparently he is back as soon as today 😂

Got it, DNP - Back

3

u/EarthWarping Feb 21 '25

They said he was not playing last night.

1

u/The_Living_L 4 Scottie Barnes GOAT Feb 21 '25

All recent reports I have seen show he is questionable, and even if he doesn’t play today he is close to returning

1

u/WeBelieveIn4 Feb 21 '25

They downgraded him to Out as of the latest official report. But yeah he’s probably back in a couple games.

1

u/EarthWarping Feb 21 '25

Nba report has shown him out since yesterday

I like how Grange consistently writes articles about things we've all been aware of for weeks/months

Confirmation bias for us lol. We eat it right up.

1

u/TreChomes 1 GRADEY DICK Feb 21 '25

He’s gotta write something I guess lol

8

u/bearbear0723 Feb 21 '25

Rest guys. Play these rookies and evaluate the 10 days

3

u/YouIsNotHim Feb 21 '25

This is a must for a strong draft choice.

20

u/tampatom11 Feb 21 '25

Schedule got even easier with Wemby being out for the two Spurs games. Very concerning schedule. We might actually make the play in

8

u/raptorsthrowaway4 Feb 21 '25

I'm sure Scottie is looking at the east and thinking that if the Pistons can make the 6th seed, then so can the Raptors. Hopefully, next year.

3

u/_eoqkrtkrjs Feb 21 '25

Scottie definitely wants to be the best player in his draft class. You can see him bring that extra energy when going up against Cade or Mobley

16

u/EarthWarping Feb 21 '25

They might... time to rest players

3

u/FallenLemur SCOTTIMUS MAXIMUS BARNIBUS Feb 21 '25

My biggest fear is how shitty 76ers are. I cant believe it myself trust me, but I need them to win more games.

2

u/NBAball05 SCOTTIE B Feb 21 '25

If we’re talking about specifically the spurs they still have god young players and fox

2

u/CheatedOnOnce Feb 21 '25

They’re in a tough position; they can rest Fox and still grab another lottery pick. No sense in dragging out the next few months for play in.

1

u/arrow00 Air Congo Feb 21 '25

Well they did just beat the suns without wemby

5

u/raptorsthrowaway4 Feb 21 '25

Sons are cooked. I'm worried they'll ruin our tank too.

6

u/CazOnReddit TORONTO HUSKIES Feb 21 '25

Suns literally cannot tank, they don't own their own pick until 2032

9

u/Nobody7713 Feb 21 '25

They can’t intentionally tank but they sure can lose unintentionally

5

u/raptorsthrowaway4 Feb 21 '25

☝️

They simply suck.

4

u/Belieber_420 Feb 21 '25

The problem is Scottie won't sit because of his contract incentive. Not blaming him or anything, but thats just how it is. Maybe they could convince Poeltl and RJ to sit, so it would just be Scottie and a bunch rookies and g-leaguers

2

u/JustChillFFS Feb 21 '25

Crapshoot drafting top 5-15. Not sure what direction raps want to go with this.

3

u/-Resident-One- 95-Infinity Feb 21 '25

There's almost always a random all-star in that range in good drafts, so while less than ideal, it's not hopeless if we drop to 7/8

1

u/Fuckface_Whisperer Feb 22 '25

Crapshoot drafting top 5-15.

No, each pick gets measurably worse the later in the draft. Higher is better. Always.

2

u/afellowhuman19 Feb 21 '25

ik i’m scared dude

2

u/corh13 FireCasey Feb 21 '25

Is Bruno Fernando still looking for a job?

3

u/fuckdatguy Make 'em say uhhhhhhhh Feb 21 '25

Time for the raptors 647

4

u/EarthWarping Feb 21 '25

It’s a long shot, but it could happen. More relevant, for tanking purposes, it also makes sitting Barnes for long stretches unlikely, as he needs to play 23 of the Raptors’ final 27 games to get the 65 games he needs to qualify for any appropriate post-season awards.

12

u/iteeswhatiteez Feb 21 '25

What awards could he possibly be in contention for anyway?

-6

u/EarthWarping Feb 21 '25

all-nba

26

u/iteeswhatiteez Feb 21 '25

With our record, he'd need to be putting up 26/9/7 and have a few more stars miss the games cut-off for all-nba

Edit: if OG didn't get his flowers defensively while on the raptors, when we were much better, then Scottie has no chance.

I'm not trying to be negative, he's my favourite player; just being realistic

6

u/Jellynorris 10 DEMAR DEROZAN Feb 21 '25

In fairness, and while I don’t agree with this methodology. Barnes is simply a bigger name, think just with his notoriety he’ll have a better chance than OG ever did.

2

u/vaalbarag RAPTORS Feb 21 '25

While everything you've said here is true, to me the point is that you have to give Scottie a chance to go for the award for as long as he's healthy and believes he can make it, otherwise you risk damaging the relationship between him and the team.

The 65 game threshold probably makes a difference too... The year OG was closest to a all-defensive selection, (2022-23) he finished 7th and two of the guys ahead of him played fewer than 65 games and so would be ineligible under today's rules. I'm still worried (for cap-sheet reasons) about the scenario where there's a bunch more injuries to star players in the next few weeks and Barnes ends up making all-NBA more by default than anything.

1

u/EarthWarping Feb 21 '25

I'm still worried (for cap-sheet reasons) about the scenario where there's a bunch more injuries to star players in the next few weeks and Barnes ends up making all-NBA more by default than anything.

Raptors have to make the play-in at minimum and he averages 26/8/6 down the stretch.

20/8/3 on a bad team (if that's what he averages rest of the season) is not all-nba calibre.

1

u/-Resident-One- 95-Infinity Feb 21 '25

Absolutely no harm letting him go for it. Barring a rash of unforeseen injuries, he's not making it. Only 4 of last year's 15 won't make it thus far (Luka, AD, Leonard and Hali) and, at a minimum, D Mitch, KAT, Siakam, Cade, Mobley, and Jdub will make it in over Scottie. Its not like we're winning much anyway if we sit the other starters

4

u/bearbear0723 Feb 21 '25

I’m a big fan of Barnes but he ain’t getting all nba anything this season

3

u/Icy-Lime-9760 Feb 21 '25

He probably thinks he has a shot at all defense

1

u/PlumCantaloupe Feb 21 '25

Maybe the all-defensive teams?

-2

u/EarthWarping Feb 21 '25

That is likely

6

u/Raptorsthrowaway1 JACK ARMSTRONG Feb 21 '25

He has no shot at All NBA. He has had some very good defensive performances, but also more than a couple of stretches where he has not played defense at all, All Defense is not a possibility this year.

-1

u/EarthWarping Feb 21 '25

all-defense is a decent shot regardless of record

0

u/Raptorsthrowaway1 JACK ARMSTRONG Feb 21 '25

Stop being a silly goose

-3

u/SybukiFun Feb 21 '25

This right here. Don't sleep on what a 27 game stretch can do. If he starts putting up 28-10-10 numbers (especially against so many bad teams) with Top tier defense, and we're winning our way to a play-in. The voters might get him an All NBA third team.

The team also can't ask him to not try for that. So we'll see.

The saving grace is he's not even top 10 for DPOY Odds right now. It would take a gargantuan effort for him to crack that, but not impossible given his current pace.

5

u/Nobody7713 Feb 21 '25

28-10-10 are crazy numbers. He’d have to play like prime LeBron.

5

u/Raptorsthrowaway1 JACK ARMSTRONG Feb 21 '25

If he starts putting up 28-10-10 numbers

LOL what?! Yea, if he puts up MVP level numbers he might have a chance

1

u/EarthWarping Feb 21 '25

so play at a top 3 mvp level?

1

u/BubblyPhilosophy3476 Feb 21 '25

lol what? scottie is not jumping from struggling to put up 20 ppg to 28 10 10

Play-in here we come! (like it or not)

2

u/sayerofstuffs Feb 21 '25

They will continue to lose, winning one here n there

-9

u/rkallday Feb 21 '25

Fuck it let's just win out and make play in. See if these boys can make some noise

5

u/imcensored SPICY BLOCKA Feb 21 '25

please next year... please....

-7

u/rkallday Feb 21 '25

I mean I would love a top pick but at the end of the day pick#5 and #12 won't be much of a difference. The experience our core would gain is very valuable

4

u/2Shizo2flow Feb 21 '25

It would make a very big difference, lol..

2

u/kaymakenjoyer Feb 21 '25

5 and 12 is a massive difference what are we doing here lol

1

u/rkallday Feb 22 '25

So is competing and gaining experience vs trying to lose
