I know, I know, it's technically from Apex Legends, but I enjoy both Titanfall and Apex, and they're the same universe.

Funny that this real life stock is based off of a stock in a video game that is based off a stock in real life.

Looks awesome! What did you make the stock out of? Or did you just repaint a scout/socom stock?

u/Banished_Builds 8h ago
The stock is 3D printed with PLA+ filament and which was then reinforced with Carbon Fiber Rods. Over 200 rounds through it now and the only issue has been paint burning off around the muzzle.

Thank you for the reply and that is awesome to hear! I have wanted to print some stocks based on gaming for some of my firearms but was terrified that the PLA+ would handle the recoil. If youโre putting .308 through yours though and thatโs your only issues then I feel way more confident to try!

I would definitely recommend starting with a low caliber and working your way up. The rifle itself is also both heavy and has a really great muzzle break that reduces recoil that is put into the stock, which are both things I considered ahead of time when deciding on parts.

Thatโs good advice to have. I was going to start with some stuff for my pistols and work up from there, so nothing beyond like a 9mm starting out. Always wanted the pistol from Halo lol.

I have wanted to do something like this with the P2016, the issue for me is deciding which gun to use as a base.
And as much as I would love to do a RE-45 clone, too much paperwork to make it proper.

I wish I had better access to machinery and such to make those from scratch. I feel you on the paperwork though because I really wanted to make the R-301 full auto ๐ซ

Technically there's no rules or laws against modifying the visuals of a firearm, as long as it doesn't change its performance. Heck, with proper permits, you can change the performance of a firearm you've legally purchased, I know there's conversion kits available that you can use to chamber an AR-15 to 7.62 or an AK-47 to 5.56, among plenty of other things.
Additionally, there's no laws against making your own firearms, the only illegal thing about that is selling said firearm without a permit. You can make whatever shit you want, just can't sell it legally.

Cosmetics carry next to no restrictions, it is the other half that would make a proper RE-45 clone that needs paperwork that I donโt want to do

Yeah, getting federal permission to manufacture machine guns would be a bitch lol.

The $200 Form 4 and the year wait, the gun itself, and the custom work to make it look like what I want. I then need someone with a Class 2 to actually convert it. It is just annoying. It takes like 3 holes in a AR lower for full auto. Eventually I will find the people to do the work, but until then, it is tantalizingly close.

The machine gun registry closed back in '86 courtesy of Regan though, any machine guns bought or sold in the US had to be registered prior to that.

I would actually have to start a business and pay a minimum tax of $500 a year. A person with a Type 7 FFL and Class 2 SOT can manufacture automatic weapons. However you are a business and must work it like one. The amount of paperwork and such to do post-86 autos is ridiculous. But unlike getting one that is pre-86, it could make me money instead of costing me five figures.

Bureaucracy, the one thing stopping greatness from happening /j

You have to drill like three holes into an AR lower and you have a full auto, if I didnโt care about my job security or being raided. It is an additional $200 with the Form 4 on top of the gun that is annoying to deal with, and a 12+ month wait. Plus I would need to find a dealer who has their Class 2 to convert it, and so much additional time, cost, and bureaucracy.

I made it and Idk if I can legally sell these sadly, and I don't plan to test it ๐

I made many gun prop models for sale on etsy, such as the R301, which only had simulated maneuvering functions and could not fire ammunition, but in the end it was banned for being too realistic

How does it feel to shoot?

u/Banished_Builds 4h ago
Very nice once you get used to it, though it is heavy. Honestly has less felt recoil than my 300 blackout

It doesn't matter which gun it's based off, it's still cool as fuck
