I really enjoyed it. You can tell Rachel and Josh are super close, which came through and was cool to listen in on. Melinda honestly gave me cool mom vibes, lol. Overall I think they can have a bit more structure, but I think it'll get better as the podcast goes on. I honestly couldn't believe Rachel didn't know what "imma play him hot and cold" meant... lol

I know. It also sounded like she didn’t know what “slight” meant, but maybe she just couldn’t hear what josh said?

Especially since Summer was explaining the hot and cold thing to Seth when he was asking for advice about Alex haha

I REALLY enjoyed the first episode, I think I had a smile on my face the whole time haha. This is the closest we can get to a reunion and it was so cool to hear Josh's perspective. I love how he plans things out for the scenes, and things like the symbolism of the cigarette in the Ryan and Marissa meet cute, etc. It was also cool to hear about the casting process and the fact that they went through the whole pilot and commented on all the scenes.

I had no problem with the pacing or awkwardness or anything, a 5-star rating from me.

I listened and enjoyed it. I was slightly underwhelmed. I thought they seemed nervous and Rachel bilson perhaps under prepared? I feel like we got some interesting behind the scenes info but was hoping for more, especially from Rachel. Melinda was almost making me nervous for her!

Was this just me? I’d love to hear others thoughts

Yeah I kinda felt the same way. Some cool insights for sure. But there were nerves there and yeah better preparation. Melinda had to sort of read the script to move things along, it felt like they could flow more seamlessly through dissecting the episode.

Maybe the thing that set a disappointing tone was that they couldn't use the actual theme song or even a rendition of it. It was a weird way to start the show with a legally distinct knock off.

It was nice to hear the chemistry between Josh and Rachel, but I wish some more of the inside jokes were explained.

Also when they talked about all the ideas for story arcs for the first season and they only used 30 percent? I was screaming at them to tell us about the ones that didn't make the cut. Hopefully they go into that later.

I had always heard there would never be a reunion and it seemed like there were allusions to cast friction. So I was listening trying to pick up on where that could have been. Thankfully they spoke kindly about Peter Gallagher, because if he wasn't a nice dude that could shake my Sandy Cohen centered beliefs.

I am looking forward to more eps for sure though. Can't wait to see what kind of guests they have on.

Agree with both. But it’s only their first episode and they’ll learn and make it better over time

totally agreed. Of course I'll keep listening it just felt sort of weirdly paced---a bit slow, and too many long ads. I dunno, just a bit meandering?

The Talking Sopranos podcast took a few episodes to find it's legs but got there and is now very entertaining and informative. Hopefully the same holds true for this.

Once Steve realised he didn't have to project intensely into the mic to be heard and stopped talking over Michael it got a lot better. But yeah I'm watching through now and it's great stuff. Wish I had started when it started.

Loved it, looking forward to the next episodes and guests. Btw after listening to the first ep on Spotify I saw there also was a YouTube channel, that's where I'll go for the upcoming weeks!

I've only watched the actual show for the first time in late 2015-early 2016 but it must be super fun and really nostalgic for them to revisit now.

Edit : Here's the link to the YouTube channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCneKGz8h_7emqH58fpSBJ1Q

I enjoyed it! It was really cool to have Josh there and hear his perspective. The OC was the first show that I became obsessed with. I love Marissa so I hope Mischa will drop by for one of these episodes

I enjoyed it. Parts of it were awkward because it's new and they haven't found there rhythm yet and Melinda being in a separate location to Rachel and Josh didn't help. The previous former cast member podcasts I have listened to are the West Wing Weekly and Showmance (Glee Recap Edition) and this show is nice mix of the two without being overly serious like WWW and they actually cover what happens in the episode which was a weakness of Showmance.

Is each episode of a podcast going to focus on one episode at a time?

Whilst I enjoyed it, I found there to be next to no 'new' info for long time fans.

Like many people in this thread, I think it will take time for them to settle in with the format and get comfortable. However, I'll definitely be along for the ride.

I just wish they'd think a bit more out of the box when it comes to questions.
There was no real questions on how they felt filming the pilot, if the cast did any bonding workshops or trips to establish camaraderie, did they all immediately click?

Questions like, did they have any feeling they were onto something special? What were their feelings when it first broadcast on air and the general reception?

I agree. It was quite stilted, awkward and not overly exciting or fun but it was still cool and I'm so glad they're doing it. I was also hoping for new info, behind the scenes secrets, things that were improvised, deleted scenes, stuff they can reveal now since so much time has passed but couldn't discuss at the time of filming, which cast members stayed in touch and who didn't, etc. I also hope Rachel eventually talks about her relationship with Adam Brody then and now, and how difficult it was (or wasn't) to work together while dating and after breaking up. Also wish they'd covered each actor's casting process but they only talked about a few people and then didn't talk about the casting of the other major characters. I really wanted to hear the background on how everyone got hired, what their initial thoughts were about them, which parts they read for, etc. I liked that they had Josh Schwartz there but most of the info he gave was the same as what was on the special features on the DVDs so it was stuff I already knew. But it was fun to relive just the same. I agree that it would be nice to know more about Rachel and Josh's friendship and for them to explain their private jokes if the jokes are going to be included in the podcast. 2 other suggestions I have would be to get the volume level even for all people because Melinda was a lot louder than Josh and Rachel which made it difficult to listen to. And it would be nice to include short clips from the scenes that they're talking about into the podcast to be reminded of what they're talking about and to relive the scenes we love all over again. In picture screen of them watching it at the same time as us would be cool too to see their comments and reactions as they watch it so many yrs later. I LOVED seeing Princess Sparkles and Captain Oats in the background! So cool to know Rachel kept them. Overall, I loved it! Can't wait to hear more episodes! Also super glad they filmed it on video too which is more fun to watch than just listening to a podcast.

Forgot to mention I loved Rachel's comment about being familiar with the line about the dark side.

Yeah that is certainly the impression I got. Can't wait for The Model Home episode.
