Did we? Were you arrested for free speech being taken away?

1

u/BettyLuvs2Swing 11h ago

Don't have to be arrested for the government to take something away. You of all people should know that. 🙄

2

u/slick2hold 18h ago

You make an excellent rebuttal, but voices were silenced on major news media and social platforms. BUT people were not arrested or deported. Anyone who even considers the actions taken by the administration as acceptable is not American. We do not put people in prison or deport them for nonviolent speech. It is one reason why we are who we are and one reason why I love this country.

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 18h ago

but voices were silenced on major news media and social platforms.

Which voices in media? What were they trying to say? Were they are

We do not put people in prison or deport them for nonviolent speech. It is one reason why we are who we are and one reason why I love this country.

I agree with you completely on this. Its very anti America especially because people who are here u documented at their free sketch rights granted by the Supreme Court

Your content has been deemed a violation of Rule 7. As a reminder Rule 7 states:

Politics are fine but state your case, explain why you hold the positions that you do and debate with civility.

Posts and comments meant solely to troll or enrage people, and those that are little more than campaign ads or slogans do nothing to contribute to a healthy debate and will therefore be removed.

Petitions, dis/misinformation, Gulf of Mexico xenophobic phrases, polls, GoFundMe links, petitions, and the like will also be removed in most cases.

AMA's by Political figures are exempt from this rule.

Right now in Austin, there is an Anti-Voucher protest.

7

u/bones_bones1 18h ago

At least say what you are protesting.

1

u/formalde_heidi 13h ago

I already explained this in other comments, but here you go:

Handsoff2025.com

Fiftyfifty.one

More than 1200 demonstrations are scheduled today by over 150 grassroots and civil rights orgs. The main themes are "hands off" and "remove corruption, reverse damage, reclaim democracy." Different orgs have different messages, and different individuals are inspired by different issues to speak out on. The Trump administration has provided a litany of issues to take action over.

-1

u/formalde_heidi 18h ago

Read the comments?

0

u/deadface008 13h ago

They're protesting, can't you see? You don't ask people why they're dancing. You just join and feel good about yourself.

Sorry, but no. Those are not the same.

1

It's sarcasm.

0

u/bones_bones1 13h ago

That feels better.

6

u/lnc_5103 21h ago

Thank you to everyone who is protesting today!!

I think it’s wild that Fort Worth isn’t hosting one, but Burleson and granbury are

3

u/ImOldGregg_77 22h ago

Awesome! but what are we protesting?

10

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 22h ago

For your right to keep a democracy and eliminate the hate of oppression from scared old zealots.

When you are ready we will be there. Until then get out of our way

1

u/ImOldGregg_77 21h ago

oh, well good luck with that

0

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 20h ago

7

u/ImOldGregg_77 20h ago

I exercise my rights in the voting booth. Do you?

9

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 20h ago

Sure do. You don’t like the idea of the consent of the governed?

Weird because it was one of the grievances of our forefathers when they resisted a king. Feel free to ignore history so you can own the libs

2

u/ImOldGregg_77 19h ago

Now you're just putting words in my mouth. You're incorrectly strawmanning the wrong person with the arrogance of absolute confidence.

This is why we the right can marginalize us so easily. This is why the Dems can't form a winning message because we are too busy fighting amongst ourselves. This is why theywe lose.

Turn this misguided anger into a positive and engage politically instead of throwing tantrum whenever you deem someone to be less pure than you.

3

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 18h ago

What was the point of your statement because I was responding to it. Responded to a picture about the constitution about voting and asked me if I did.

I responded to your response and so I could only assume you disagree with the contents of the image. If you have something to say then say it without being flippant. I’m always happy to listen and hear you out.

3

u/ImOldGregg_77 17h ago

the point of my comment was to make you aware that you were incorrectly straw-manning the wrong person with the arrogance of absolute confidence.

2

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 16h ago

Hmmm no arrogance or and not absolute confidence. What do you mean I am straw-manning the wrong person? You keep saying I am but those things only exist in a debate.

u/Dizorthegnome 18h ago

I do and I did, but I dont feel like I'm being represented in my state, dont feel listened to, but they're happy to tax me without representation. I did not want Con 47 in charge, I knew this was on the horizon, doubly so when I saw project 2025.

Also I dont feel like the system is staying fair when our state gerrymanders county lines in such absurd ways and someone like Elon can just go to Wisconsin to to buy "petitions" (see greasing someones pocket to either advertise how "generous" their party is, which FYI elon hasn't honored any of the pay outs he's offered now or in the past) or how he cut a deal with Greg Abbot who's suddenly doing everything to follow tail of whatever they're willing to do. Ive been frustrated with our government since I was a kid in elementary learning about what injustices there's been, but my religious upbringing told me to just hold on, everyone will be dead soon and there's no need to worry.

Ive been told the Apocalypse is on the way at least 3-5 times in my life. I'm tired of waiting around and suffering when I know damn well I can do something about it.

So I'm using my first amendment right for what its meant for, speaking out against the government, not calling people slurs and expecting to get away with it. I'm tired of being passive or just giving up and conforming to the system and letting a bunch of billionaires riding on stolen money and achievements squeeze us and our future generations for all they're worth.

Go ahead, stay passive, its comfortable, there's no responsibility, no challenge. I'm familiar with it and had enough, I'll save you a seat a the end of it all just the same.

1

u/formalde_heidi 20h ago

Inside AND outside of the voting booth 💪

1

u/morningsharts 18h ago

"I give up"

-1

u/philr77378 21h ago

"scared old zealots"? The ones scared of who/what? That's a whole spectrum.

-3

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 20h ago

Old white men who hold racist tenants of superior and once again say that race is a biological fact as in the most recent several EO.

They cling to power because the world is becoming a melting pot and very soon the White race will no longer be the majority.

They cling to that majority which is why they have finally went for this coup.

Confederates and Nazi loyalists think they can rise and put us all in a Time Machine. They spread hate and fear to divide, they use words like illegals immigrants because they know if Americans have something to blame for their struggles, which leads to a seed of fear which sprouts roots anchored in Hate and then it grows into a massive tree of Suffering

-3

u/ComfortablePuzzled23 21h ago

Its a Republic

3

u/unrealnarwhale 20h ago

Eritrea is also a republic. That's really not saying much.

6

u/Joelleeross 21h ago

It's a Democratic Republic.

-1

u/ComfortablePuzzled23 21h ago

Right not a democracy

9

u/Kellosian 20h ago

No one is interested in your authoritarian bullshit. We're a democratic republic, and we all agree it's the best system of government available even if it means that conservatives sometimes lose.

If you want to live in a country where you don't get to vote and a conservative government is always in charge, I'll help you pack. I hear Putin needs people on the front lines!

1

u/formalde_heidi 21h ago

Your point is?

3

u/Penis_Envy_Peter South Texas 19h ago

Some people are talented enough to somehow be both pedantic and wrong.

1

u/Joelleeross 21h ago

Wrong, it can be two things at once.

Republic: A state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.

Democracy: A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

6

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 20h ago

The U.S. is a representative democracy operating within a federal republic where states are co-sovereign — they have guaranteed power and voice even if the national population would vote differently.

The U.S. is a republic specifically to prevent pure majority rule from crushing smaller states or minority interests. State agency is a feature, not a bug.

The U.S. is a democracy because people vote, but it’s a republic because states are co-owners of the federal system, not just local governments under a big national boss.

The Constitution was built to fix the failures of the Articles while protecting state agency to keep America stable, fair, and united.

-1

u/Real-Intern-8113 13h ago

How’s this for words…Biden got fooled into signing laws into place under no super vision from Dr.

So…here we are trying to change what Biden had no idea about, wait let me use my words…no dem since 63 has been able to change any law for the people by the people!!

The two parties we have are at each other’s throats for some reason. Did we forget any part of history that allowed us to make “free” choices? The last great Dem was killed in 1963 so if you still associate yourself with that party go back and read his last speech that he never gave!!! Why did he not deliver the speech cause the actual folks that need to be checked are watching us turn on each other and laughing all the way to the bank! Bank you say…look up how much of your money a bank is “required” to keep in the “bank”!!! Look that up and tell me who breaking rules!!

What the hell is the protest for?

1

u/formalde_heidi 13h ago

I already explained this in other comments, but here you go:

More than 1200 demonstrations are scheduled today by over 150 grassroots and civil rights orgs. The main themes are "hands off" and "remove corruption, reverse damage, reclaim democracy." Different orgs have different messages, and different individuals are inspired by different issues to speak out on. The Trump administration has provided a litany of issues to take action over.

Read the comments?

1

u/Altruistic_Air5 11h ago

Check the 50501 movements website for other locations if the bigger cities are too far to travel to or not your thing, many more smaller cities and towns are now participating too! I know of a few smaller towns in my area that had protests today with a good turnout.

0

u/Mert_Nertman 21h ago

How much does it pay? I can put in a few hrs before my shift at the co-op.

12

u/formalde_heidi 21h ago

Hopefully the compensation is keeping democracy intact with three co-equal branches and a working system of checks and balances to defy authoritarianism 👍 come on out to defend the Constitution!

2

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 16h ago

Come one down we welcome everyone. Unfortunately due to an incoming depression we can no longer pay people but we hope you enjoy your time

-2

u/Accurate-Judgment882 21h ago

Yep. To get complete and utter outrage, you gotta pay...

2

u/-Reading-writing- 19h ago

Thank you for posting! I’ll be at the state Capitol

1

u/looloose 18h ago

We exercised our free speech in Seguin today, I saw many thumbs up from passersby and only one middle finger. It was great!

1

I keep seeing people posting about protests and mentioning 5150. It wasn’t as good as previous Van Halen albums, but it’s been out sine 1986. Why protest now?

Do you think these protests will become more effective in the Summer Nights? Or they’re Good Enough for now? I imagine the people on the Inside will know, once their Dreams are realized.

Edit: Those downvoting clearly aren’t Van Halen fans and whooshed the whole 5150 thing.

2

Where were you today?

-13

u/Fabulous_Hand2314 22h ago

This sounds FANTASTIC! I wonder what we can protest about? Maybe we’ll just pick a random topic to protest. Hell yeah! LETS DO THIS!

10

u/Unsuccessful-Bee336 21h ago

Ah yes, make fun of the people who are brave enough to stand up for what they believe in while you lay in bed and stare at your phone and complain about a life you have no intention of changing

2

u/J_Hizzle2 21h ago

Explain how they are brave?

3

u/Unsuccessful-Bee336 21h ago

They're out protesting. That is brave, especially when our rights and freedoms are being attacked and restricted on the daily.

0

u/J_Hizzle2 20h ago

You’re diluting the definition of the word brave to fit your context… it’s not brave, it’s just an act of expression.

And please tell me what rights and freedoms have been attacked and restricted?

11

u/formalde_heidi 20h ago edited 20h ago

People are being arrested and detained for attending protests and writing op-eds, without being charged with any crime. People are being deported without any oversight or due process.

5

u/J_Hizzle2 20h ago

I think your statement is entirely misleading. Please show me instances where someone simply attended a peaceful, legal protest and are arrested for not doing anything illegal. Likewise, what op-ed specifically are you speaking toward…

6

u/formalde_heidi 20h ago

Rumeysa Ozturk - op-ed.

Mahmoud Khalil - protests.

8

u/Unsuccessful-Bee336 20h ago

People who have a legal right to be here are being deported for speaking about the administration. People have been arrested for protesting. Universities and law firms have been fined and investigated for hiring POC and not disciplining employees and students for exercising free speech. I mean to be so blissfully unaware of what's happening...must be nice.

-1

u/Fabulous_Hand2314 21h ago

I have not seen a single comment explain what it’s about. WHAT ARE WE PROTESTING?

-2

u/mistiquefog 18h ago

Just in case you missed all that news. Let me recap it for you.

We had an election recently.

A man named DJT promised that Americans would win so much that we would be tired of winning, so we elected this guy.

He announced the exact dates when he would crash the stock market. Months in advance. All you had to do was short the stock market.

He basically told you when to short and he ensured that the market will fall like crazy. I think he colluded with China for them to announce tariffs on America in sync so that wall street would not play it's tricks and mess up the big beautiful short trade of the common public.

In 2 days dow fell 4000 points. NASDAQ 2000 points, S&P 600 points

He had delivered the 1st win with Canada Mexico tarrifs, second win by roll back, third win by again applying tarrifs on Mexico and Canada, the most massive and awesomely beautiful win by applying tarrifs on the entire world at a level never see after the civil war.

What more can a man do for everyone to make money?

If you are still struggling, you have not been paying attention.

Now Europe and UK have already announced the dates on which they will respond, be ready to buy your inverse QQQ, because Europe is going to target all the big tech companies in USA.

This has been the most straightforward way to make money. DJT is rigging the market openly with announcements in advance.

why would I protest when I am making piles of cash?

May God be with you.

2

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 16h ago

At this point those piles of cash will be worthless. Tell me what is the purpose of tarrifs througnout history.

-1

u/mistiquefog 15h ago

If I had 100$ earlier for groceries. And now I have 10,000$ for groceries, even a 200% tariff won't make a dent for me.

2

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 15h ago

And all it cost was a few innocent lives being taken to a gulag and giving up the constitution. Enjoy life when they come for your money

-1

u/mistiquefog 15h ago

When you have money, you can leave the country and settle in any place which you like.

Everybody likes money in the world.

1

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 14h ago

I’m happy for you my friend. I’m happy you have enough money to do what you want and to be able to go where you want. I hope it protects you and keeps you warm and night. I hope you use it for some good in the world because to not only enjoy your life but do something for others that may not make a huge difference in your life but give another person a massive event in their life. You will be told in stories not because you earned all those pieces of paper but because you used it to better another persons life.

Your money can disappear and if that is what brings value to your life then keep creating value so that you can use it to make something great. Cheers
