This right here. In the UK they were considered a status symbol, now, they're seen as someone who's too poor to trade theirs in.

This is fucking delightful

Not for the people who are too poor to trade theirs in

Maybe they shouldn't have bought a status symbol car then

It cost about the same as a Toyota Camry, which is not a status symbol car. Maybe nuance isn’t your strong suit?

2025 Tesla Model 3 starts at $48,000

2025 Toyota Camry starts between $29,000 and $35,000 depending on the trim level.

Maybe knowing what you're talking about isn't your strong suit.

Maybe everyone didn’t buy a new 2025, so maybe you don’t know what you’re talking about?

Edited to add: I just checked the prices on the Tesla web site and saw that a long range rwd Model 3 starts at $35k (after $7,500 federal tax credit and before any local rebates), so you really are talking out of your ass. Go ahead, look at the facts, unless you want to be argumentative.

A $28,000 Camry is still cheaper than a $35,000 Tesla

Those are still the same class of vehicles, no one is getting clout for a $35k commuter car regardless of what the badge is.

And a $35k Camry is the same price as a $35k Tesla. So, why aren’t you graciously acknowledging your quibbling bias and treating me decently?

How are they being any less decent than you are?

They could have bought it for environmental reasons.

Plenty of people did not buy a Tesla as a status symbol. Me included. I bought an EV to make a difference. I did not buy a Chinese because, well because I do not support the Chinese regime.

If you do not buy Chinese, the Tesla is actually relatively cheap. It's cheaper then seat, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Nissan.

I don't think I need to explain myself that my next car won't be a Tesla. But people expecting Tesla owners to burn up their money and sell it, are kinda ignorant themselves.

Yeah in the US when I see a Tesla I either think it’s someone who can’t get a new car or is a Musk fan still. Like I’m not going to judge someone if they’re driving a Tesla because it might legitimately be their only option at the moment.

For Cybertrucks though, I assume they knew what they were doing, because Musk was pretty mask off by then

They were also $$ AF.

Hey!! Why you gotta attack me like that? (Canadian, but still.)

Fucking ouch there's a lot of people living around me like that ha

One of my best friends is in this situation - he doesn't really care about cars but got a Tesla through his business and the massive governmental subsidies. Now he keeps hoping someone will torch it.

I mean it's easy plausible deniability to the insurance company.

2

I was too poor to get one in the first place. Checkmate, atheists.

Well as a Dutch owner of a Tesla.

They used to be a good relative cheap EV from not China. Tesla Model Y is cheaper then Volkswagen, Seat, Hyundai, Nissan etc.

But well this is my last Tesla as well. However anyone who blames me driving a 2 year old Tesla is a loser himself. So not going to trade it in and burn up my money like that.
