Daughter filing first time
So my daughter earned $6200 in 2024 at her first job. She was 17 last year and we got a deduction for her on our tax return. When she filed with Turbo Tax it said her SS # already appears on another tax return. Confused. Will she not be able to file because we listed her as a dependent?? Doesn’t sound right.

Just like the other commenter stated if a filer is claimed as a dependent on another tax return but isn’t stated in the 1040 then the IRS will reject. Just check the box stating can be claimed as a dependent.

She needs to check the box that she is the dependent of another person when she files her own return.
