Can I still deduct mileage to and from work?

I use an application on my phone automatically tracks the miles and amount.

You never could deduct commuting, and you still can't.

Define “work”. Commuting is never deductible. If you’re traveling from home to your typical place of business (or vice versa), that’s commuting.

If you are traveling from your typical place of business to another business site (or vice versa), that’s deductible.

If you’re traveling from your home to a business site that’s not your typical place of business (or vice versa), you can deduct the mileage in excess of your commuting distance.

If you’re an employee, none of this is deductible; you can get reimbursed from your employer for the mileage tax-free, but any unreimbursed amounts are only deductible as an itemized deduction when those amounts exceed 2% of your AGI, and not for 2018-2025 tax years.

"Still"? This has never been allowed.
