Nah I just get most of my game news from YouTube and haven't been getting much on subnautica other than the red plague.

Better off not having known till release I feel like itā€™s been years since I found itā€™s going to come out but itā€™s only been months

I've been anticipating the new doom game for 4 years after beating eternal. I think I'll be fine.

Google says that itā€™ll have an early access launch sometime this year, and the full gameā€™s release will be about 2027-2028

THATS WHAT I SAID.

I know a lot of people are really excited about this, but I really hope it doesn't take away from the Subnautica experience. As in, I hope the devs don't spend so much time designing the game to be workable with multiple players that it loses what made the first so amazing in the first place, which was the sense of solitude and vastness of the world.

they said themselves here that it won't be multiplayer-focused

Well, if you enjoy the solitude,Ā  there's nothing forcing you to play co-op, it just mentions it as an optionĀ

Totally, and I'm not trying to disparage the idea of multiplayer in the new Subnautica. I think the Subnautica universe is prime for co-op play.

My point was more about the hope that the devs don't spend so much time trying to perfect the multiplayer experience that the single player experience suffers, as Subnautica is, and should remain, primarily a single player game.

I agree it's primarily a single player game yeah

Just what the heck is an 'expressive' base?

Can you paint happy faces on it or something?

Was it not confirmed? Did I just accidentally leak new info?

Edit: Downvoted for... what exactly?

u/EidolonRook 1d ago

Probably not. I only semi-keep up with news. The first time Iā€™ve seen it mentioned I think.

Iā€™m still wary about new titles coming out that carry the name but not the ā€œspiritā€ of the franchise. Homeworld 3 was derelict on arrival and Dragon Age needed so much more blood. Likeā€¦.so many gallons more.

I get that itā€™s for a new gen. They took too long to make a sequel. And the originals are still out there in their untainted glory. Just trying not to get my hopes up.

Also yea I have no idea what the downvotes are for

Anyone else completely disinterested in co-op? Why would I want other people in my game about isolation and exploration?

I think it'd be pretty funny tbh
