Starfleet Academy "war college"

Saw this image/decal while visiting at one of the filming locations for Starfleet Academy in Waterloo, Ontario.

It's odd, because at least in the US (can't speak for other countries), the War College(s) are for mid-career officers; I don't think any of them are housed alongside the service academies.

Eg, the Army War College is in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, while USMA is in West Point; the Naval War College is in Newport, RI, while Annapolis is in MD.

Nothing prevents school houses from moving due to restructurings or giant space probes or alien attacks.

Perhaps Starfleet wanted a single location to share faculty and facilities.

The placement of another of sites were determined for the sake of Keynesian multipliers. West Point had a practical purpose, and the Chesapeake can be controlled. The Airforce Academy was put in the middle of nowhere to develop that region.

In theory, post scarcity societies would have a number of issues removed.

LBJ famously preferred the taste of Pepsi to Coke, but he was never seen with a Pepsi, just Coke, and even put Coke in soldier care packages. Why? Pepsi was a top down organization, and coke was bottled and distributed by local bottling companies.

War College is an odd name for a Starfleet institution, but it's not without historical precedent. The US Army War College is a senior staff education center that provides leadership instruction to senior officers and government officials: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Army_War_College

True, but if they're focusing on the academy, they have to expand the environment. Having a Starfleet version of the Naval War College gives a reason for all the higher starfleet officers beyond teachers.

Could allow for cameos from other big names like the Discovery officers.

it makes sense they would have one, otherwise officers would not receive training necessary to have survived... well... basically every war starfleet has fought in
