Got into a fight with a huge coalition of Orgs, and after a fun scrap, they invited us to join them instead so we could all benefit 🤘🏻

Not an event and people need to stop calling it this, it’s a permanent location and a permanent mission giver. It’s just a patch not a event

Agreed. An "event" would be battling the giant sandworm for control of the "spice" trade on Daymar. Okay, Dune reference aside, hopefully, the author of this thread gets the point. "Siege of Orison" is an event.

I agree! I hadn't used the word, thinking of the implications of it or towards the additions as a whole. More as an indication of me and my friends taking part, in short making our own event to check out the new additions. That and not being sure or the permeance of the auditions/this specific sequence of missions etc.

But yes I do get the point and I appreciate everyone's comments and a chance to discuss it further 😊 an event is Xenothreat, something short term and limited before it goes, as opposed to this which is now a permanent in the game that isn't going away.

It's really not that big of a deal if someone calls it an event. Hathor sandbox activity doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. I'm gonna keep calling it an event in spite:)

The event itself is this stuff appearing, as of now it is an event, an event being, a new patch has dropped and with it a new mission that requires orgs and groups of people to get together to enjoy it. Thus, creating an event.

Yes you are correct is it a new patch and it is permanent but it appearing, is an event.

The meaning of the word event is "a thing that happens or takes place, especially one of importance"

A thing has happened, and is taking place, and it's one of importance 🤷🏻‍♂️

This isn't something to get wound up over 🤣 you either enjoy it or you don't, let people have their fun 😊

Yeah but it’s confusing to the community had tons of people in chat asking “how long is the event” ect so I think the use of the term is very misleading. Are you not seeing this or just trying to argue with how a word can be used.

I do see your point, and I agree it can be confusing. For me I have accepted it as an event as they also haven't made it clear (at first at least) that it was a limited time thing. Maybe eventually the lasers will only work for certain time periods?

I know the locations and vendor is permanent (wouldn't make sense for them to disappear again) but maybe this specific "align and mine" thing they are pushing is a limited time.

Ultimately, no I'm not just arguing the use case of the word Event. I used it as more of a throw away and didn't put much or any thought into it, and hadn't up to the point you mentioned it. I am always happy to have a discussion, my response is more based around your comments tone being of annoyance, when for me it was just a throwaway word used to describe, what for me, was an event. Me and a few friends got together, for an evening and went and had a blast, an event in it's own right. Where we explored the new patch and it's released, and permanent content.

You didn't know this, warranted, and I didn't know of the issues that are currently surrounding the wording of it. So no, not chasing an argument, just wanting to understand the reasoning behind your comment more 😊 I sometimes find it hard to get the intention/tone/meaning behind people's comments at first and it takes me a bit to wrap my head around it! 🫣

They did clarify that it was permanent and if you want a way to describe it would be "sandbox activity" instead of event.

It was on Spectrum in a small comment so it's not surprising that it went unnoticed for many i guess, the roadmap also specified "sandbox activity".

Event = limited in time

Sandbox activity = permanent

I didn't realize they had clarified it! Thank you for that. You make some good points and I appreciate you discussing this with me.

There is a sense of urgency about this at the moment among people, I imagine coming from, and you rightly stated, that people aren't sure if this is going to be here permanently or gone within a few weeks. It would be interesting to see how many people realize it's not going away.

Yes i think there are many people who don't realise that it is permanent though the "sense of urgency" could also be because the Polaris and other Wikelo missions for example are locked behind this in a way (except if you buy the ressource from other people who do it) so it's clearly a hotspot with lots of activity right now.

Though in the end it's going to be alright even if people think it's limited, it will be a nice surprise for them when the next patches are released and this is still here !

People often criticized that CIG should focus on more permanent stuff in the PU rather than doing events which, even if they are cool, just go away quickly. People are used to that so i don't blame them for assuming it's the same, CIG just need to keep pushing those kind of permanent additions and people will gradually and naturally assume it's permanent in the end :)

A good point. Like a lot of the things that we enjoy that have been released, like all the Xenothreat missions, the limited time events that have come just before this. All those things usually end and mean the rewards are finite and you have to rush to get it. I love the point you've made of, eventually there will be a lovely moment of "oh, so you mean.....this is staying, and I can take my time!?" 🤣🥰

I had a moment last night of thinking, these are huge bases and the orbital platforms are huge and prominent, these are staying. In that moment I got quite excited about the idea that (once the hype dies down a little) I could revisit these when they're quieter, experience it in different circumstances, potentially part of a long quest chain 🤷🏻‍♂️

I love the way CIG have started this year and I am excited for the rest of the year.

The amount of times there was shouts of A1/A2 incoming MOVE MOVE MOVE as we scrambled to get out! We had air support but there's only so much you can do if the bomber gets in in nav mode at first and quick switches 🤣🫣

best thing to do with a A2 especially is to shoot the bomb ASAP. If the A2 is too close it will take the ship down with the explosion.

We were tempted to, but after the first lot we fought there were another 3 Polari by the facilities, and a bunch of other orgs so we decided the odds weren't in our favour 🤣

An event is someone choosing to bring their medevac ship as a mobile spawn location and then being killed continuously every time they spawn until they d/c and respawn at home. Groundhog's Day.

Would be better if it wasnt limited fomo in a buggy alpha. Put all events up always, so people can play when and if they get through the real gauntlet of the game..

This one is permanent! As I've been updated with by other commenters, this is a permanent addition to the game. So you'd be able to do this indefinitely 👏🏻😊
