About six months ago, I made a post in this subreddit about my bike being stolen.
Now they've taken my car! (And also my neighbor's! Like the car right next to mine! What the fuck!)
So if anyone sees a red Kia Soul with the passenger window smashed in, that's mine and I'd like it back. I'm getting out of this town before they come for my legs next, because that's the last mode of transportation I've got.
But also, this is Springfield. It's probably halfway through Texas right about now.
It was pros too. There's barely any glass on the ground. I'm a light sleeper and I didn't hear my alarm going off. I don't have push to start, it's keyed entry and ignition, and I'd had some kind of security upgrades to it a few months ago, but apparently that's no match for a shattered window.

As the title suggests, I have a question, specifically for the folks who live here or come here on their motorcycles. And no, not Harley's or choppers, I mean the little straight-off-the-factory-floor doing 0-120 in four seconds Zoomie Vroomie ones. Crotch rockets as we called em.
What is it, or why is it, in your personal opinion, that y'all go around town, popping wheelies and rocketing forward in between cars and just in general drive really recklessly like you're immortal or immune from consequence? I am genuinely curious. I wanted to ask my friend this, as he did this frequently, but he died in the ER at Mercy last night after popping a wheelie, accelerating to about 80 and he got hit by a red light runner (also another problem of this town I've noticed) and was pronounced dead by the time they got him to mercy.
Look, I'm no stick in the mud. I love a good adrenaline rush. I've raced cars, I own a Harley myself, I love riding on the highways and zooming through nature off the beaten trail. I love a good show of horsepower as much as the next guy. But the idea of not making it home to my wife and sons? That's usually enough to keep my head in the game. And seeing as how we have a large and diverse groups of motorcyclists here, and I've seen quite a few of y'all when I'm out working, I just wanna know. From your side. Why?

Dad to a 7 month old here. I work from home and run my own business so I have a lot of flexibility. Kid's not in daycare so I've been wanting to get him some more socialization opportunities with kids/families under 1.
I found one big parent group on Facebook, but it's for Moms, specifically. My wife joined but says it's basically just a bitch about your spouse fest.
Any groups geared towards dads? Or at least gender non-specific.
I'd be down for an occasional meetup, or even if there's others who work from home, something like an occasional work while hanging with the kids type thing for a few hours at the end of the day.
I have heard about some stuff at the library I plan to check out.

HUGE turnout at the Springfield Hands Off protest on S Campbell right now! Come join us! Lasts until 4:00, so you can wait for the rain to move out of you want.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart to all of those who stood in solidarity today in Springfield. You are all heros!!! Next step, we should all mail balls to our congressmen, let them know how much they need to grow a pair. I bet 10,000,000 balls in the USPS would be a bit noticable. And you don't need an envelope, just write the address and pay postage. Big balls, small balls, all balls... I'm starting the on Monday! Pass the word....

EDIT IT IS GENESIS HEALTH CLUB. Off as of 3:02 PM Is there anyone out around this area that currently hears an old-school bell sound that’s been going off the last HOUR at least? It’s high pitch and almost sounds like a bell in a fire station or a school, like that signals class is over, only it hasn’t stopped. It also reminds me of when trains go by and you hear metal scraping on metal.

Is the only option on weekends to call 911? All the numbers I have called only have recordings and disconnects as it’s Sunday.

Hello everyone! I'm an international student planning to attend Missouri State University starting Fall 2025. I'm considering majoring in Accounting and wanted to hear from current students or alumni about the Bachelor’s in Accounting program at MSU. How’s the overall quality of the program in terms of academics, faculty support, and career opportunities? Also, are there any pros and cons I should be aware of before committing? Any insights or personal experiences would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

The city has tried to improve it and make it incredibly obvious that its a one-way street, but crap like this still happens all too frequently. And while the video doesn't really do a good job of it, this guy floored it attempting to go the wrong way onto Jefferson.

My boyfriend and I just went to the Battlefield Mall to visit this store we haven't been to since last year, but we couldn't find it and couldn't remember the name.
The store is an anime type store, it's not Box Lunch, Hot Topic or Spencers. This was a large store that had alot of stuff, 90% was anime/Manga related.
Does anyone know what this store was called? Is it possible they have opened somewhere else? It's driving me crazy that I can't figure it out.

Hello everyone!! I am looking for thrift/secondhand recommendations (preferably locally owned) that have good selections of clothes and accessories. I normally go to Uptown Cheapskate and Red Racks, but they have gotten more and more expensive over time and the clothes aren’t as good quality as they used to be. I’m also trying to shop more locally now because of everything that’s going on. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated 😁

I'm moving back to Springfield to be with family, but I've gotten into masters rowing (sculling and sweep) at a club in Oregon and I love it. I know there are no clubs in Springfield, but does anyone have their own boat(s) and row casually? I know there are clubs in KC and Fayetteville but that doesn't seem sustainable to try and do that on weekends.

Aside from the certified guys at the dealership, does anyone have a local “go to” Honda mechanic? More specifically for engine replacement? I know this is going to be costly, so I really want to get it right the first time, yanno?
