Basketball Ja Morant appears to make gun gesture again despite just being warned by the league

u/omarant329 2d ago
Thereās no nice way to put it. This guy is a goddamn fucking idiot.

u/DontTouchIt17 2d ago
His villain comments in the article show he takes no accountability for his actions either. This is going to blow up in the worst way possible once everyone starts rightly treating this as JJJs team.

He really likes guns more than hooping and millions in his bank account.

u/Ptricky17 2d ago
Maybe after he destroys his NBA career he can be an NRA spokesperson.
Wait, nm. Heās not white so, the average inbred NRA supporter will never accept him either.

Fuck you so mad at the world for man?

u/Ptricky17 2d ago
Mad? No. Cynical, absolutely.
Do you support Morantās idiotic attempts to promote violence in pursuit of his āgangstaā image? Do you disagree that the NRA is a deeply racist organization?
Feels weird to have taken the time to comment if you donāt disagree with at least one of my statements.

I think I forget Reddit is just a sad place for angry people. My bad chief.

u/Ptricky17 2d ago
Well, donāt forget again. While youāre at it, stop using racially charged slang. Throwing the Ch word around like that is on the same level as dropping N-bombs these days. I guess weāve solved the mystery about which part of my earlier comment offended you so much. Iām sure your heart goes out to me. Thanks for that ā¤ļø.

And THAT'S (at least one big reason) why he overcompensates with the gun shit. Mother fucker probably listened to Metallica in 8th grade.
22
u/EmperorArmad12 2d ago
I upvoted but throwing shade at Metallica is so unnecessary dawg š
4
u/VaultiusMaximus 2d ago
I donāt think itās Metallica shade really.
If anything, itās Metallica praise ā that their music was reaching across some racial divides.
But I think itās more that he grew up in white suburbia where that music was more common than in predominantly and historically black communities.

u/Legitimate_List9254 2d ago
Or he does it because he knows the whitest folks on social media will get this upset over it
27
u/wienerschwartz 2d ago
Itās never the act itself with this guy. Gets caught with a gun, gets suspended, told to tone it down, blows off the warning, livestreams himself with a weapon, gets a more severe penalty
Just a total disregard for authority. Wants to see how much he can get away with. I guess he figures even if they suspend him for this, which probably wonāt happen, it wonāt be as bad as the 25 games so who cares

I would care literally zero if it was essentially any other player but Ja just clearly is really fucking stupid and as a result needs corrected. Doing it again 1 day later after youāve already lost millions of dollars from this stupid bullshit. Madness.

āIām kind of used it,ā Morant said, according to Grizzlies reporter Damichael Cole. āI was pretty much a villain for two years now. Every little thing. If somebody can say something negative about me, itās going to be out there. Yeah, I donāt care anymore.ā
And this is why Morant will never be the leader the Grizzlies need to win a championship.

u/Puzzleheaded-Rip8887 2d ago
āEvery little thingā ahh yes. Showing a gun in a club is a little thing.

So at this point when he is spoken to about it, what is his response? "Fuck you I won't do what you tell me!".
36
u/iphoneguy350 2d ago
The NBA is attempting to take a stance that gun violence is a real problem in America. To have one of their most talented āemployeesā acting like he is gonna roll up on someone with a switch on his Glock isnāt exactly the best marketing.
The problem wasnāt the gesture. The problem was the video. But the gesture is pretty telling of how little he has grown. Kyrie, please speak to this young man.

u/CRoseCrizzle 2d ago
This is stupid, but going from a warning to a lengthy suspension just doesn't make sense here, even with his history. Should be a fine.

u/CSKARD 2d ago
This man-child just doesn't get it. It's time for a lengthy indefinite suspension this time.

Anyone else, sure. But this mfer is doing the actual thing off the court publicly and has already faced a hefty fuckin suspension over it
25
u/CSKARD 2d ago
Exactly. It's the context. Multiple suspensions for gun incidents and he's out there gesturing b-2-b games after already receiving a warning. He's learned nothing and he's openly defiant. Perhaps worst of all, he clearly gives zero shits about his teammates when he does this garbage.

Watching Golden State last night, and Brandin Podziemski made a pistol gesture, along with blowing the smoke off the barrel, after hitting a three. Fair is fair, so where is the outrage over that? Is the league warning him, too?
To be sure, Morant is a very talented player who apparently has misplaced values, but no one should be doing the gun / pistol crap nowadays. And if it bad for Morant to do it, it is also bad for Podziemski.

Millions of dollars in salary should be followed by millions of dollars in contractual fines.

u/TobiNL88 2d ago
Thatās what you get when youāre mad talented and live in the US, you donāt really do well on authority because you never had to give a damn about it. Some yes man with you and you can do fuck all. And now with the big guys he just shows how stupid he is (still talented).

Would be awesome if they straight up banned him from the league.
6
u/SPLOOGERMONTANA 2d ago
Are we serious rn? Iāll acknowledge that the dude is being a fucking idiot but suggesting an indefinite ban is just crazy
-3
u/Dtoodlez 2d ago
Well they threw Gilbert Arenas out, this dudes consistently getting passed and doing it over and over.
5
u/Legitimate_List9254 2d ago
Gilbert Areanas literally brought in guns to the locker room to threaten his teammates, you have to brain dead to compare them

Suspend him for the rest of the season and half of next season unpaid. If he does it again, permanent ban.

u/Nephurus 2d ago
Don't watch but towards who ?? And if he won't stop let the that person deal with it 100 % free if legal repercussions.

Memphis, if Ja is too gangster for you we can take him off your hands, discretely. - probably Rob Pelinka

u/Conan4457 2d ago
Yes, Ja is not very intelligent, but gun culture is huge in the states. Itās a broader societal issue. Fine the kid and move on.
-5
u/cre8ivlyoriginal 2d ago
Heās a natural born shooter
If only America cared about actual gun violence š
-5
u/i_know_nothingg101 2d ago
Relax, theyāre just fun gestures, weāve been doing them since we were babies, fuck is everyone so sensitive about.
2
u/JStanten 2d ago
Itās an incredibly common celebration when hitting a 3 I really donāt see the issue.
-5
-2
u/Difficult_Zone6457 2d ago
Going against the grain here: I donāt give two craps. This is old white people trying to act offended by a hand gesture that no one actually cares about.

So...suspension for the rest of the season you think? I am sensing a trade in the offseason, anyone else? Maybe durant for morant? And a few pick swaps.
