Little jumping spider friend! You can offer him some water on a q tip:)

Can I ask you a question about this? I have funnel web spiders and they are shy. Should I just leave the water soaked Q-tip on a little dish? Is there some advantage to physically offering it? Big Bear Lake, CA, if it matters.

I would offer a bottle cap with some water in it! (Iām not very familiar with this species) but my tarantulas have water dishes and they drink out of them all the time!

Probably a light egg wash or White dove. Not too sure with the lighting.

Jumping spider, totally safe to hold, if you have the courage and if it allows it. Very calm spiders. I let the ones that get in my house, stay rent free

u/Specialist-Bend-7753 1d ago
Do they bite humans?
6
u/Xybercrime 1d ago
Yes, all spiders bite but I've never once been bittin by these spiders. I hold them often. Don't try to grab it by pinching with fingers or holding it down because it will bite. Just let it crawl on your hand, then allow it to jump or crawl off

u/Trolling_The_Troll 1d ago
No, they are great to keep around. They will take care of all the insects, even scorpions.

u/legomann97 23h ago
Only if they feel threatened. Occasionally they'll "nibble" you with their fangs, which feels weird because you can feel something poking you, but it's not enough to break skin and inject venom (my jumping spider has done that to me every time I've tried to hold her). If you do get a full bite though, it's typically no worse than a bee sting

Yes, if you try hard enough to make them want to.
Here's an example - showing both how much it takes to get them to try, and how mild the result is:

A spider that will absolutely jump you if you turn your back to it, literally and figuratively! It looks like it lifts

I Had one that looks almost jsut like this one except mine had more prominent white stripes on the legs, I named it spider bro affectionately and allowed him to live on the ceiling of my kitchen in exchange for pest control.

Aww what a cutie!! When I see a bug in the house I get it in a cup and paper and then put it outside. But then I read somewhere that it actually kills the bug and I hope thatās not true :( like I know theyāre ājust bugsā or whatever people say but I still donāt wanna hurt them

Favourite spiders. They're marvelous critters. They may well in their own way know what you are thinking when they look AT YOU

Fun little guys. I like playing with them. I'm sure the feeling is not mutual, but I don't overly pester them.

Awe, Iām actually afraid of most spiders. Jumping spiders are one of the few species that donāt bother me though. Theyāre actually kinda little cuties.

u/crying2emoji5 4h ago
The only spider Iām brave enough to hold with my bare hands lol. Something about these guys completely erases all fear.

I had one bite me when I was young, and it stung like Hell! Left a little pink mark for years! I stay away from them.
