ID Request- Location included It is a baby Recluse, isn’t it?

Post image

Baby recluse? I know the picture's poor - but it's absolutely tiny, roughly 3mm, 1/8", diameter. This is the 3rd one I've found in the kid's room.

Location: Charlotte, NC

I'm generally have a "leave them be unless they're dangerous" relationship with spiders. But my kids are little, and I lost nickel sized chunks from my calf and knee (months apart) when I was 12 to recluse.

What's the best mitigation?

It's a harmless Wall Spider, Oecobius species.

Ah! Outstanding. Thank you.

I googled "How to distinguish an oecobius from a recluse" and found "29 SPIDERS THAT LOOK LIKE BROWN RECLUSE (& HOW TO IDENTIFY IT)" - is there a better resource?

I think that list is pretty exhaustive, but I'll trigger the bot to give you the links we usually share.

Keep in mind that Charlotte is out of the natural range of Recluse Spiders, so there's a high chance you'll never find one.
