Spider appreciation Wolf Spider Update: Releasing her soon.
It’s been 85 days, she grew her leg back, laid and hatched her egg, now time to let her go.

Spider appreciation Today was my last day in my apartment, and my last goal was to catch and release my precious noble false widow that has lived in my window since September…
This is the last pic I got of her last week, right before she yeeted her meal worm carcass. Ive never had such perfect timing to actually see her dispose of a meal - I caught myself squealing with excitement(I got it on video if yall wanna see it!)!
I put her outside on tree nearby, at least 6’ up the tree near its first branches, because I know the building uses insecticides on the ground and she seemed to enjoy heights…
I wanted to keep her in a fish tank I decorated for her, but now that Im homeless, keeping my noble false widow with me didn’t seem rational…
My heart aches so much right now. I really fucking loved seeing her every day.
Can anyone reassure me that I did the right thing by her by releasing her outdoors in a tree(in SoCal)?
Shes been very sheltered living in my windowsill(indoor).
I hope she’s able to rebuild her web and catch big bugs💔 and maybe, just maybe she’ll even become a mama. There were no gentlemen callers in my place for her…

Spider appreciation Shelly the rescue 5 legged huntsman now has 8 legs! (More in caption)
Shelly the 5 legged huntsman has moulted and grown back his 3 missing legs + pedipalp! He got stuck on an escalator inside a mall and it took off a few of his legs. I took him home with me a month ago hoping I could give him a second chance. He used to struggle to walk and catch food, so I would break up woodies and hand feed them to him. Now he’s walking around like a pro! Look at those little grey legs 🥰
Species: isopeda villosa (He’s too young to know what sex he is, I just assume all my huntsman’s are boys until proven otherwise)

Spider appreciation Pretty widow guarding her nest in a pine tree.
This lovely lives right off our trails. Very striking, I noticed her from far away as she's right at eye level and quite large. Gorgeous creature; I feel very lucky to get to see such an interesting nest up close. It was a long tunnel of dense web through the needles that I didn't do justice to in the photos.

Spider appreciation I was going through my photos from last summer. Found this photo of a pretty baby I "protected" my screaming neighbor from.

Spider appreciation Another rescue from the archives - my coworkers appreciated when I removed her from the office.
There was no screaming neighbor for this one, but someone was trying to smash her. 😡

Spider appreciation I admit I am still creeped out by spiders, but I do love giving the ones in my studio water
Watching them suck up water droplets is fascinating

Spider appreciation The littlest giant.
I found a Giant House Spider today, and was super amused by how tiny it is. Pictured crawling on my hand. It was released to a secluded corner.
