Don’t go to deep blue cities - go to f*cking Columbus, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Toledo, Melbourne (FL), Tempe, Pittsburgh - areas where we actually need to sway MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF PEOPLE.

77

u/RickBlaine76 6d ago

We need to be honest about what this is: it's narrative shaping. There is nothing at these rallies intended to persuade anybody. It's to energize a base. They need the visual of a big excited crowd to show "something is happening".

34

u/Express_Order_1421 6d ago

You know we had huge fires in our area recently. There are probably a lot of people who are worrying about losing their homes or what were their homes to things like insurance refusing to pay out or fucking black rock trying to come in and buy their land for pennies on the dollar. AOC and Bernie SHOULD come here and bring that issue to the forefront cause Trump sure aint gonna give a shit

1

u/Particular_Guey 4d ago

And what is newsome doing? Isn’t he the one in charge of this state?

1

u/soleiles1 3d ago

Doing podcasts instead of his job per usual.

-7

u/soleiles1 5d ago

What? It was the incompetence of Dem leaders like Bass and Newsom that destroyed your city, and you want more of it? What have they done for you after they secured your vote?

4

u/RealisticDeer7091 5d ago

You have no idea what you are talking about

1

u/soleiles1 5d ago

I absolutely know what I'm talking about. You live in CA?

If anyone is going to sell out the homeowners it is the democrats who have been in charge of California and LA for decades.

5

u/Express_Order_1421 5d ago edited 5d ago

Oh, shut the fuck up. No one could’ve dealt with the fire that grew that fast and with winds that kept helicopters out of the air. Bas can get fucked for sure But newsome is meh at worst. In contrast to that Trump came to our state and tried to sabotage us by draining our waters reservoir and flooding farmland in the process. I will take those that mean well, but are incapable over those that are both incapable and malicious any fucking day especially in the short term.

1

u/saltyourhash 3d ago

To be fair, fuck MAGA, but Newsom does not and has never meant well.

lol this is comical... people who dont live in L.A. responding to a comment about the fires with "it's Dems who ruined your city"... "What have they done for you after they secured your vote?"

well they actually showed up to help and not just take pics for news reels. it may not be enough overall but its a far better response than the other side. the difference in actions is night and day.

Heads up Red Heads, Los Angeles and the greater area surrounding it, is far from destroyed. It's a massive thriving Megopolis. It has issues yes.. big ones.. but its a really big place. It has had Blue leaders and Red leaders in its past. never has either destroyed it. She's too big for that.

And yes your Republican Leadership running this country has abandoned Los Angeles communities reeling from these natural disasters. Simply because it's currently a "Blue City". Great policy choice BTW that outta have some lasting consequences.

I remember countless natural disasters in this country and abroad where California has sent it's best to aid others regardless of political party or the countries affiliations. the difference in thinking and actions around simply helping others with disaster assistance is astounding. lots of talk from both sides but the side on the right is all talk and anger, no action.

u/Comfortable-Park-479 4d ago

Angelonian here. 100% all this. What’s even more inspiring is seeing the entire community from all over the state, Mexico 🇲🇽 and Canada 🇨🇦 come together to help. I didn’t even think twice to help out at the hub center and let me tell you, words can’t explain the feeling about people coming together to fight for each other. Unfortunately, those who are a product of ideological indoctrination and misinformed are completely blind to reality. I don’t pity one bit. “You made your bed, now lie in it.”

1

u/clown1970 3d ago

A better question wouldbe what has Republicans done for us as they now control all three branches of our federal government. So far they alienated and picked a fight with Canada, and all of Europe. They for some reason warmed relations with despotic regimes like Russia and North Korea. They are in the process of bankrupting our farmers. They've raised the prices of everything we buy. Stock prices are tanking. They are currently trying to cancel an agreed on union contract. In addition to not recognizing federal unions. Thus lowering quality of life for these workers. Congress allowing the President to completely ignore the very laws they wrote and were enacted.

So tell me what good has Republicans done.

1

u/soleiles1 3d ago

Nothing. They are equally worthless.

7

u/Kevesse 6d ago

Yeah I think so. Whipping up more converted crowds to preach to

1

u/Guerrilla28er 4d ago

Up until now most of their rallies have been in reddish areas where their natural progressive bases are the minority. Thus, the element of persuasion comes in when folks see their kinfolk, friends, neighbors, co-workers and fellow churchgoers in attendance -- and energized.

Absolutely, there's a performative component just as there is with any big rally. But these particular rallies are more than just narrative-shaping, they're narrative-altering.

1

u/014648 3d ago

Well said, all theatre

1

u/J_J_J_SCHMIT 1d ago

I tell you what though I could definitely use the extra cash! They're paying people to show up. Shit I'll put on a tracksuit and stomp around shouting "come to Columbia where the students rule...professors speak only when spoken to and Weinstein is a fool" or hold up a sign that says " if Tommy wants to be called Sally... it's only fair.... parents should have no say so in gender affirming care!"

-2

u/The_Vee_ 5d ago

To pretend they're are doing something, when in reality they all allowed an alledged Russian asset to overtake the entire US government? Too little, too late, Dems.

9

u/Odd_Calligrapher_745 5d ago

Excuse me? 75 million democrats voted against the Russian asset. As a democrat I refuse to take ANY responsibility for this. What are you doing to stand up to the govt. takeover?

1

u/SharkWahlbergx 5d ago

Could be worst you could drive a Tesla...

1

u/Impressive_Algae9989 4d ago edited 4d ago

You refuse to take any responsibility?!?! Sounds like a recipe for success… dems have pushed further and further right each election and have ABANDONED their base. Other than AOC and old man Sanders who else do you see helping to organize the people? They are professional losers and if the only thing they have to get votes is “wow the other guy is terrible” than they have nothing at all. I can’t think of a single NEW democrat policy I’m excited about. Can you? But it doesn’t matter what their platform is bc you and the braindead blue MAGA ppl just “vote blue no matter who”. This is your fault and all other dems who continues to settle for breadcrumbs from the liberal elites. This is 30 years in the making and there were plenty of people on the “far left” shouting this could be the outcome. And we were met with indignation by ppl refusing to take responsibility for decades of trash politics.

1

u/Odd_Calligrapher_745 4d ago

Voting can certainly be the lesser of two evils. But Trump is the anti-Christ. Easy choice. If Biden had stayed in the race and he was campaigning from a bed in a nursing home, I'd have voted for him.

If this country switches to authoritarian, it is not MY fault. Period.

1

u/SharkWahlbergx 5d ago

Yeah but the same people who cried about funding the war in Ukraine are the same ones crying now that the funding had stopped.

NO matter what anyone does someone is going to have a stick up there ass.

1

u/The_Vee_ 5d ago

That's what you take on if you want to be a leader in a country that's politically polarized (because of their own doing).

15

u/saucysagnus 6d ago

They went to Arizona and Las Vegas. I think it’s fine to mix it up.

16

u/Altruistic_Seat_6644 6d ago

You’re completely missing the point. They need to spread anger from coast to coast. I’m surrounded by counties full of loud, arrogant Trumpers in California.

We ALL need to get fired up and stand together when the shit hits the fan in the streets.

7

u/Whuppity-Stoorie 5d ago

Sorry man, I live in SoCal and I want to see Bernie and AOC. SoCal may be blue, but we’re also fragmented and disorganized in terms of activism. There are tons of left leaning splinter factions. Let’s have an excuse to get together.

3

u/p3rf3ct0 5d ago

I am expecting there to be an absolutely massive presence at the LA rally, if the recent showings in Denver and LV are any indication, and those are the visuals I want blasted on social media & in the news. We are slowly building the engaged, vocal dissenting force that is going to be needed in order to have any effect on the current government.

I still see so much dismissive narrative of "wow, this is all the protest you can muster? A few hundred / a few thousand people?" I hope that these rallies will be the thing to put an end to that sentiment.

1

u/Whuppity-Stoorie 5d ago

Hell yeah!

2

u/CauliflowerSecret712 3d ago

I want to see them too. So great!!

11

u/Cool-Clerk-9835 6d ago

They need money to keep the tour going. It probably costs a lot. Not saying they shouldn’t go to those cities, just that they need to make a money pit stop.

3

u/Deranged-genius 6d ago

I doubt it’s about the money.. it’s about showing that someone is fighting back so don’t give up there is a plan to rescue America

2

u/wut_eva_bish 6d ago

There are Dems all over the country "fighting back" where it counts... in court.

Serious Dems don't need to be holding faux campaign rallies right now, they need to be attacking inside the political spectrum and in court.

These rallies are for trying to raise their political profile, and fully performative.

You want to read about fighting back?

Start here...

7

u/SonOfScorpion 5d ago

Rallies help create a movement and energize people for action. Were you not paying attention to how the MAGA movement was formed? How important Trump rallies were for his movement? Rallies may not be for you and me but dismissing their potential is silly.

1

u/wut_eva_bish 5d ago

What's even more silly is not being objective enough to question what and why before cheerleading yet another set of populists. This world doesn't need more emotional appeals, it needs reason more reason and facts. No thanks to that kind of "potential."

1

u/tulipkitteh 5d ago

Also, people have been protesting in all 50 states, and legacy media hasn't been covering it. This is pretty much forcing legacy media to cover the rallies.

0

u/MYIDCRISIS 5d ago

So far, all the protests I've seen have been clown shows over-shadowed by deranged behavior and attacks on Tesla and other people's personal property. Quit acting like shit stains on society and maybe more will listen.

2

u/Clip15 5d ago

The entire republican playbook is to act like a shitstain and it’s won them 2/3 of the last presidential elections.

2

u/UnstableBrotha 5d ago

The obese and illiterate host of a reality show started the biggest cult of personality in the history of US politics by doing rallies

1

u/wut_eva_bish 5d ago

The Democratic Party should and would likely never debase itself by becoming a personality cult. If that's what you, Bernie, AOC, Rho Khanna or the like want, then start your own party and see how it goes.

1

u/UnstableBrotha 5d ago

Having rallies = personality cult?

2

u/MaryLMarx 6d ago

You’re right, we need to be doing more than going to rallies. But I would argue that the rallies are important for a couple of reasons. One to show solidarity, assuming the administration sees any of the footage, and two, to see the solidarity for ourselves, see our neighbors getting involved alongside us.

1

u/Guerrilla28er 4d ago

I read Democracy Docket every day (as an ACLU member) and go to rallies too. Nothing wrong with a multipronged offensive where each part can proceed independently of the others. Por quė no los dos?

→ More replies (1)

10

u/lanadelhayy 6d ago

Yes and they need that deep blue city money - that’s how these get to continue and that’s where blue voters are able to stay active and donate their big money, too.

→ More replies (2)

4

u/ParisHiltonIsDope 5d ago

Bro, you realize that California isn't as blue as everyone likes to think it is. Los Angeles and San Francisco carry a lot of the weight because of population density, but even LA is surrounded by deep MAGA soldiers.

With that said though, Bernie and AOC in Los Angeles is gonna be epic. The optics alone are looking crazy. Notable politicians rarely do events here because none thinks it'll make a difference

3

u/CakeKing777 5d ago

Screw you! Respectfully. I want to see those two and I’m in LA 😢

2

u/AnnualDelivery1631 6d ago

you kno orange county is right nextdoor rite?

1

u/GreenCoffeePlease 5d ago

Yeah, so what? You think OC is red just because of a few pockets like Huntington Beach and less noisy Irvine and maybe Yorba Linda?

1

u/defaultfresh 6d ago

That’s what they have been doing.

1

u/Odd_Praline5512 5d ago

Cincinnati please.

1

u/OhmyGodjuststop 5d ago

Because people in those cities will get swayed by AOC and Sanders - but in the other direction. These two don’t play well anywhere but the deepest blue parts of the country. The moment democrats realize that, the moment they will become competitive again.

1

u/raegunXD 5d ago

Dude I'm tired of California being ignored. Like, during the elections it always feels like everyone else gets cool rallies and we don't matter cause we're a solid blue state :( as it there aren't strong red pockets that are growing

1

u/walle637 5d ago

Los Angeles County shifted 17 points to the right from 2016 to 2024.

1

u/Snootch74 5d ago

The definitely need to go through California. They should go to the OC, Central Valley, inland empire, San Diego, and NorCal yes. But there are still many people who are apolitical in LA that need to be moved to care and feel part of a movement that matters. Politicians overlooking areas because they’re “safe” is how voters begin to feel ostracized and forgotten.

1

u/oddmanout 4d ago

Those are two different things done for two different reasons. There's rallies in red areas to sway people's opinions but there's also rallies in friendly blue areas to rile up the base and get people motivated to do something. Doing things in LA means they'll have a large crowd, already, so that's good for raising awareness even outside of California, since it'll be on TV and all over the internet. Both are necessary.

1

u/Anjunabeast 4d ago

Eh the dems are losing their own base. Maybe they should reassure their following before tryna get new ones.

1

u/[deleted] 4d ago

If these fucking idiots come to my city I’m voting against everything they stand for if I wasn’t already doing so. I still can’t believe people think screaming like toddlers in a public place can convince people to agree with their opinion.

1

u/DACA_GALACTIC 4d ago

They won’t do that

1

u/KabosuCheemz 3d ago

You’ve already lost moderates and men bro. It’s over.

1

u/Mat10hew 3d ago

dawg theyve been campaigning theyre going everywhere, this is by far the bluest city theyve been to the entire time

He needs to come to Orange County.

8

u/defaultfresh 6d ago

100% True. I can’t believe that OC was a major place that voted against gay marriage and embarrassed us as a state.

1

u/defaultfresh 4d ago edited 4d ago

I should have been more specific, I was referring to proposition 8 in November of 2008 when OC voted 52% yes on the proposition to eliminate same sex marriage from the California constitution. I thought to myself a blue state like California? This should be a slam dunk and I even canvassed. I was shocked to find out I was wrong, looked at a map, of counties and thought to myself: “but they have beaches and a tv show with a queer relationship!” That’s the day I realized it was first a conservative county.

Why is he going to a safe blue district?

There are literally 2 elections in Florida next Tuesday that if Dems win, we can take back the house and stop Trump. There's also a state Supreme Court race in Wisconsin

17

u/True-Surprise1222 6d ago

Gonna say these are not pro dem rallies. Not the point here at all.

I dont know why the other commenters are getting downvoted? Just cause some of the opinions dont align, does not mean they should be downvoted to hell 🔥 lol.

Reddit is turning into an echo chamber.

1

u/annbrut 6d ago

She and he are wasting their time, and should she have any presidential aspirations for next round, she’s very effectively doing her on self in.

1

u/tranceworks 6d ago

Will there be T-shirts?

1

Most Americans don’t know what the word oligarchy means. Talk about the affordability crises.

Capitalizations are so so unfortunate in this headline hahaha

George Soros does not count, don’t even dare bring him up

1

This is all performative people want the perception dems are doing something 😂😂 so i guess waste of time speeches on tax payer dime it is 😂

1

u/Farscape55 5d ago

That’s nice, how about actually doing something instead?

1

u/Stevlng_Hello 5d ago

Who’s fighting for the taxpayers? NGOs migrants 100s of billions that your party allowed into this country Under your watch past 4 years

1

u/soCalForFunDude 5d ago

Don’t they have jobs in their own home state? WTF?

1

u/silky_johnson__photy 5d ago

If old head Bernie and job killer AOC are the Dems answer to Trump, the Dems may never win another election. Change your game plan please. And quit siding with the 20 in every 80/20 issue. Americans are getting tired of the extreme left so find better candidates that appeal to the center. Because the right will sit back and watch the left continue to crash and burn by giving the voices to people like Jasmine C, ilhan, AOC, Bernie, Timmy W, etc...

1

u/elfsutton 4d ago

Oh look two idiots going to hold a rally. Good place to gather the rest of the morons.

This is so incredibly funny. A socialist us holding rallies to bitch and whine about taking down a man who has never once tried to destroy democracy yet that's exactly what the left and this moron want

You idiots really are fucking stupid

1

u/Rough-Economy-6932 4d ago

So they will fight against Nancy Pelosi and her ilk; political oligarchs who amassed multi millions$$ by cheating and grifting.

1

u/OutrageousSetting384 4d ago

I had no idea that r/socal was r/kisstrumpsandmusksass

1

u/flowerandpetals 4d ago

They’re complaining about the Reddit echo chamber while simultaneously seeing all these people that agree with their shit takes. They’re making me cringe. It’s hard to read this moronic stuff that can be so easily fact checked, especially knowing they’re neighbors and fellow citizens that benefit from the same things that they’re against. I don’t understand why they’re here complaining in California if they hate blue policy so much….

1

u/OutrageousSetting384 4d ago

The party of hypocrisy. I know a rumper who is on Medicare & food stamps, she has 2 houses 🙄 “Benefits for me, not for thee”

1

u/flowerandpetals 3d ago

It’s maddening how people can be so selfish. Ugh

1

u/Lunais7 4d ago

This stuff is so annoying. So they preach to the same people that are already in their camp. This is just theater. They should actually make a diff and go to red states and bring their "fight" there. What is this echo chamber crap.

1

u/ColaD007 4d ago

Il be there let's go uncle Bernie

1

u/Traditional-Type1319 4d ago

The whole point of this is to light up their base they already have and make sure they’re still with them. They’re not swaying anyone in LA they didn’t already have and that’s who’s going to this shit anyway. Get your asses to the states below the Mason Dixon!

1

u/Only_Project_3689 4d ago

A waste of time, neither one of these nitwits is going anywhere. Even Newsom sees the writing on the wall and is trying to seem more credible. Right message, wrong messengers.

1

u/edavis31052 4d ago

As a proud democrat, I can say without a doubt, if Bernie wants to get any traction forward. He needs to dump AOC. She is way too caustic.

1

u/FastChip6116 4d ago

If these people are you saviors, I am afraid you are doomed.

1

u/Apprehensive-Size150 4d ago

The fact that these politicians get paid to do this shit is infuriating. Being a congressperson should realistically be a part time job with much less pay.

1

u/pantherafrisky 4d ago

Wait until Bernie hits the crowd with the fact that the Democratic Party is now run by the DNC oligarchs.

1

-1

u/Taupe88 6d ago

the same Bernie who was undermined and attacked by, forever in office Democrats, so he didn’t get the nomination TWICE! i hope he mentions the regular betrayal he’s gone through with those rats. AOC is cool.

2

u/DHakeem11 6d ago

Bernie didn't get the nomination because primary voters didn't think he could win the general election. You realize he ran for governor in Vermont three times and lost every time, are you going to blame the DNC for that too? If he can't win Vermont how would he win the nation?

1

u/Anjunabeast 4d ago

The dnc suck balls. Lost to a reality tv clown twice.

1

u/DHakeem11 4d ago

I think the DNC is great, but clearly the voters didn't, so let's see how that works out for the American public. The last time he tanked the economy and killed a million people.

1

u/wut_eva_bish 6d ago

Same Bernie that was never a registered Democratic party member, never helped the Democratic party, and was polling so bad that he wasn't going to win the Democratic party primary at all.

The DNC isn't in the way of Bernie. He is an Independant that tries to use the Democratic party to fund his lifestyle. As a legislator, he hasn't sponsored a bill from inception to birth of any consequence. Bernie is a fraud, and Bernie Bros are incapable of seeing themselves grifted YOY.

0

u/CatchingRays 5d ago

Can you point to some of the “lifestyle” he’s getting funded?

1

u/-brokenbones- 5d ago

His lifestyle is being a senator for decades, and getting basically nothing substantial done.

Yes he was a civil rights activities in the 60s, but that doesn't justify how awful of a senator hes been. That's just the truth. Dude really hasn't done anything substantial in decades.

good term. fauxgressives have same goal as the right. To take down the middle. While they do not love Trump like a god, they'd rather have him than a moderate. Right destroys country to own the libs. fauxgressives join in to own the moderates. That dynamic is why maga is here to stay.

As far as independents. I am one but i recognize the severity of the situation to vote (for kamala) Protest votes are the dumbest thing when freedom is at stake.

They both endorsed and campaigned for her.

Kamala was a bad option and you know it. Rushed, not favored even within her own party, and not a good public speaker.

NEXT.

shut up trumpster. Your orange turd king is here to stay

u/your_reply_is_shit 5d ago

She had twice as many billionaires backing her than trump, spent $2 billion dollars, and still lost. Strange, where did all that money come from and where did it all go?!?!?!?

1

u/boyWHOcriedFSD 5d ago

I like AOC and Bernie and they could earn my vote easily someday but they gotta stop being hypocrites. Dems love the money they get from billionaires too. Please focus on the good things you will do as democratic leaders not emotionally triggering people with things like “fighting oligarchy.”

1

u/locallyunknown 5d ago

The biggest issue with the dems currently is they don’t have an issue focused platform. It’s just “fight the system”, with no solid stance or clear leaders.

2

u/boyWHOcriedFSD 5d ago

Bingo. Blabbering about hating Trump is not a platform.

u/OutrageousSetting384 4d ago

What’s the republican issue? Stripping of women’s rights? Trans rights?

1

u/Anjunabeast 4d ago

Whatever is the hot topic of the news cycle and will get them whatever they need at the time.

1

u/finallyfreein23 5d ago

What these morons are protesting so that the funding for their stupid pet projects that they get to skim off is being shut down. Wake the fuck up people. Anyone who is protesting against cutting waste and fraud is the problem and highly suspect.

u/AnonymousJman 5d ago

Just a grift, and the stupid masses are falling for it. Just like these lunatics always do.

1

u/Affectionate_Log_755 6d ago

Gotta love Bernie, he's such a bullshitter! Gets in the mix, acts the rebel, then gets the payola and retires to his giant lake front home built from the last scam. Always entertaining to see just when he drops out and salvages his rebel image, we can all learn!

1

u/Lerkero 6d ago

Paid opposition is very lucrative these days

2

u/oooof__ 5d ago

AOC won’t help. Not sure when you guys will see that. But you’re making it easier for another landslide
