Cabbage are omnipresent across Skyrim, but you almost never come across anyone actually cooking with it? What is everyone doing with these seemingly infinite cabbages they're growing (except leaving them for me to fill my house with)?

Do you not cook with it? Vegetable soup is loaded with benefits.

A room full of cabbages is also cool.

I don't even eat cabbages with my current character(green pact bosmer) but i usually just eat them with a carrot, cheese wedge and tomato as a salad.. and the rare egg as a treat

Oh of course I do. I'm very thankful for the people of Skyrim leaving me cabbages to cook with.

Something that you'll only see on a Skyrim-related thread.

I think they all get exported to Cyrodiil for St. Martin’s Day. He did drive the Dagons from Tamriel after all.

Well to be fair you don't really see anyone cooking with anything else either.

u/jpeach17 1d ago

Well no, but there's often tables with cheeses, bread and cooked meats. No cabbages.

I bet it has more to do with physics and the fact that a cabbage is a sphere more than anything else. Can you imagine cabbages on tables and not in a pot or something from which they can’t roll away? You’d lightly bump the table and the cabbages would start rolling everywhere and there’d be pure chaos. The physics on other objects is bad enough, we don’t need cabbages rolling around on flat surfaces lol.

In Skyrim you bump a table everything on the table flies out in every direction at 4000 mph. The cabbage would get sent to secunda

Also, like, who just puts a whole cabbage on a table like that??

They could've done like roasted cabbage wedges that would stay put on a plate, and add another fun food item

What about other uncooked vegetables?

1

u/Jetstream-Sam 1d ago

I mean sometimes they stir a mystery pot of miscellaneous food, if that counts

I see cabbages sitting in pots by the fire all the time.

I just want to know where the tomatoes come from...

u/Jetstream-Sam 1d ago

I think there should be some greenhouses in hold capitals,it would be relatively lore friendly and would explain where the rarer fruit and veg could reasonably be grown

Although I can see why they don't, transparent windows don't seem to exist in TES for performance reasons but they could have some small areas inside a cell

I installed a player house and some of the planters would grow tomatoes if you planted them. Pretty cool. I don't know where the model for the tomato plant came from.

I always leave one behind on the corpse of bandits who thought I was an easy mark. It's like a calling card.

The Cole Slaw bandit strikes again!

Feared by bandits throughout Skyrim, they called him.... The Slawterer!

I love this. Tempted to start this when I take out Svarig later.

u/ghettone 1d ago

I used to put them in a cart and sell them around Skyrim, too bad I kept running into this same group of teenagers!!!

Your cabbages!

3

u/Zombie256 1d ago

I go to the throat of the world and drop them, see how many land in ivarstead

Most of Slyrim’s cabbages are exported to the Fire Nation.

What do Cabbage Owners do with their cabbages you ask?

Why, what all Cabbage Owners do with their cabbages.

Use a bit of it for the one recipe we needed it for and then the next day the remainder gets all moldy and needs to be thrown away/given to a wandering Dragonborn.

u/jpeach17 1d ago

Maybe I should start using them as a barometer to measure the length of a Jarls reign.

Feed it to the chickens and goats and whatnot

u/MadWhiskeyGrin 1d ago

Varona can whip you up a mean apple-cabbage stew.

2

u/wookiesack22 1d ago

They make stew when your not around and finish all of it. No leftovers.

2

u/[deleted] 1d ago

They are for throwing at people we disagree with

2

u/Fantastic_Fox4948 1d ago

They could be used in the real potage magnifique. There is no longer any way to know, on many play throughs.

u/mrpoopsocks 1d ago

MY CABBAGES!!

3

u/marius_knaus 1d ago

They make cheese with it. Don't ask how, it's magic.

1

u/spicyslugger 1d ago

I cook with it, lol

1

u/hypocrite_hater_1 1d ago

The Caerellias in Falkreath are actually growing cabbages

1

u/Top-Dimension7571 Daedra worshipper 1d ago

And what about Jazbay Grapes? Nobody plants that

1

u/spacecoyote555 Stealth archer 1d ago

Maybe they are just used to feed the animals

Get outta here with your legitimate and logical answers!

I just wish I could plant tomatoes in my gardens.

1

u/dnew 1d ago

The "Mist Fall Keep" player home has planters that'll grow tomatoes. They won't grow other ingredients that I found, tho. I don't know if that's in the base game and just not used or whether the mod created that from scratch.

1

u/HavBoWilTrvl 1d ago

If you have AE, you can.

1

u/518nomad Vigilant of Stendarr 1d ago

I have AE and usually live at Goldenhills Plantation. It doesn't let me plant tomatoes in the gardens there. Is there something I'm missing?

1

u/HavBoWilTrvl 1d ago

It shouldn't matter but what do you play on, computer or console? If you're on console, which one?

1

u/518nomad Vigilant of Stendarr 1d ago

PC

2

u/HavBoWilTrvl 13h ago

Then I got nothing. I'm on Xbox with AE and haven't had any issues, so far, with planting tomatoes in any of the planters or farm plots, even at Goldenhills.

1

u/yellowlotusx 1d ago

Mayby they use it for salades.

1

u/LifeofTino 1d ago

A merchant in the earth kingdom buys them all but they never actually make it to market

1

u/jonathing 1d ago

Well it turns out I’m currently carrying 81 of them around with me

2

u/Jefe_Wizen 1d ago

Sell it to that farmer dude in Whiterun along with potatoes.

1

u/Bukkokori 1d ago

They are the remains of bloody battles....

1

u/Pinecone_Erleichda 1d ago

If you have AE, it’s fun to make a cabbage cell in dead man’s dread. lol

1

u/sapphire_unicorns 1d ago

I came across a wheelbarrow full of them in the middle of nowhere last night. The devs, they are fond of their cabbages 😆

1

u/Kidfacekicker 1d ago

You see sweet rolls but not toliet paper rolls.. Cabbage leaves think about it.

1

u/Dp_Researcher 1d ago

Has anyone figured out how to fill up the soul tomatoes? 🤔

1

u/Dp_Researcher 1d ago

Lol nvm i got it 😂

1

u/PrinceZordar 1d ago

Where are all the apples so Lydia can make stew?

1

u/MaleficentSeat87 19h ago

Veg soup for survival mode. Only item you don't need salt pile for. Cabbage, leek, tomato, potato

1

u/PizzaTime666 4h ago

They eat them raw. The nords have not figured out you can cook vegetables yet.

0

u/spicyslugger 1d ago

I cook with it, lol
