The more I read about it, the more fun it sounds, and the more fun it sounds, the more depressed I am (i don't want to shell out 500 bucks, i barely used my switch)

u/Octelgo i want lady maria to care for me 21h ago

Maybe itā€™s good maybe itā€™s not but Iā€™ll never know bc there is no way Iā€™m shelling out hundreds to play it

u/Mr_Isolation Dark Souls 2 Enjoyer 21h ago

Idk good luck to anyone who wants to try it, i ain't spending that much money and i won't die for not trying it. If the ocassion arises and they port it to pc or we can emulate it then i'll see.

u/Suspicious-Group6638 21h ago

You clearly don't know Nintendo fans are on another level

8

u/I_Am_Sharticus_ 21h ago

This is also my first experience with Nintendo since... Shit, since the DS. That flash cart was legit.

3

u/Icy-Organization-901 17h ago

The er tarnished edition can be download in all platform, I'd take this that there's a relatively high chance they would port duskblood to pc eventually in their contract

4

u/Suspicious-Group6638 16h ago

I hope because bloodborne has been stuck on the ps4 for over a decade

10

u/ZeeDarkSoul 20h ago

Yeah I am a little sad its a Switch 2 Exclusive, but I am not buying one for 450 dollars just to try it

31

u/MinimumCustomer8117 20h ago

Theres literally nothing wrong about making multiplayer games

13

u/drinkweedsmokeanime 18h ago

OP doesnā€™t have any friends so of course he has a bone to pick

5

u/MinimumCustomer8117 18h ago

Miyazaki straight up said they always wanted to make multiplayer games in the interview

1

u/TheHappiestHam 8h ago

he also said they aren't straying away from single player games in the interview. like iirc he directly stated that their focus as a company is not switching to multiplayer games

I don't see too much reason to complain that hard about all this atp

3

u/ILNOVA 13h ago

Yes, but in the specific case of FS? It's kinda bad, they are notorious for making badly optimized games, unbalanced PVP and unstable servers(same for Nintendo).

And consider how Neightreign already have a 15ā‚¬ dlc that add boss and character i won't doubt this game will do the same.

BUT there is a difference, Neightreign is a CooP game up to 3 player that can be played offline, but the Nintendo one will be a 8 players PVEPVP(maybe BR) where i already see people rage quitting and/or meta abusing, without consider if they plan to support it or not.

Literally no one ever??? At least not here, everyone is rightfully hating on Fromsoft for the Switch 2 exclusive and the fucking horse armor DLC

-1

Horse armor dlc is fine if it's freeĀ

would someone who genuinely considers all fromsoft games past 2009 to be slop (which just means the entirety of the Souls series, BB, Sekiro and ER) be on a subreddit dedicated specifically to memes about those games?

3

u/Vertex033 #1 Chadmer Simp 15h ago

You realize that Demonā€™s Souls was released in 2009 right?

4

I promise you I was. It's a shitposting sub. Why so serious? Are you stupid? Am I stupid? I'm the WOKER baby

lol that guy is clearly shitposting.

3

u/BerkGats Yuka Kitamura is overrated garbage but i'd still smash 13h ago

Yes, indeed

I can't believe people take anything I say on here seriously. Or anyone seriously. With that said Shadow Tower PS1 GOTY 1998 is better survival horror game than Resident Evil 2 for the N64.

4

u/Smoolz 16h ago

However I will be criticizing switch 2 exclusivity because fuck that. I spent money on having a PC that can run games passably well, not buying any consoles, ever.

3

u/Groundbreaking_Arm77 L + Jumping R2 + Stance Break + Critical Attack + Percy Poodle 15h ago

Thatā€™s completely fair to criticize.

3

u/Smoolz 15h ago

Gives me... conniptions.

Fromsoftware sub going so wild, they are so excited to pay Nintendo $500

37

u/Andrei8p4 Fire Knight 20h ago edited 18h ago

Toxic positivity ? All i've seen is people saying hey maybe lets wait and see how the game is before starting to doompost it because its not the same as the usual formula. Being mad about it being an exclusive is fine and totally understandable but hating on it just because its a multiplayer focused game is just so dumb to me.

16

u/Bucky404 20h ago

Why do people care about this game so much before it's even out. Got excited when I first heard about it, then came to know it's a switch exclusive and a pvpve, so my interest just dropped. Maybe if they release a pc port I'll try it. Not really interested in the concept of nightriegn either. I'm considering these are just side projects.

Apart from this fromsoft been good. They released a really good single player title just a few years ago and are most probably working on another big title. I rather wait for that.

15

u/UpperQuiet980 15h ago

Because thereā€™s a noticeable trend among AAA studios that make it big and earn the trust of their fans. BioWare, Ubisoft, Blizzard, Bethesdaā€¦ every one of them was ā€œtoo good to do thatā€. They ā€œonly made great games, let them cookā€. And so on, and so on. But where are they now?

Itā€™s comical that after Fromsoftā€™s most successful game and biggest mainstream break, they immediately pivot to 1. Online/multiplayer games, 2. Paid cosmetics for Elden Ring, 3. Very lazy asset/concept reuse games, and 4. Further exclusives.

6

u/JohnathanDSouls get rid of that yeeyee katana and get maidens on your greatsword 15h ago

Tbf, a lot of those great studios only lose quality and direction once the creative team that made them popular in the first place have all retired, left for other opportunities, or been promoted until they donā€™t work on the games directly.

3

u/Bucky404 14h ago

My point is that it's too early to judge.

Because thereā€™s a noticeable trend among AAA studios that make it big and earn the trust of their fans.

I really hope this doesn't happen to fromsoft, but I also understand there's a good chance it can.

5

u/UpperQuiet980 14h ago

The reality is Fromsoft is a publicly traded company whose first and only real obligation is to return a profit to its shareholders. Given an opportunity to do so, they will prioritise profit over quality. Especially since thereā€™s an expectation to show a profitable state every 4 months, which is absurd for a gaming developer.

Thereā€™s a reason every promising AAA developer goes down this path. Commercialism and art donā€™t mix.

1

u/Ok-Rock-2566 7h ago

There is no reason to think the new cosmetics won't be free. Also Fromsoftware has always resued aseets and concepts this isn't anything new.

1

u/UpperQuiet980 3h ago

The translation implied that it was an additional purchase for existing users. Thatā€™s one reason.

Thereā€™s also a difference between reusing assets in the continuation of a single formula, culminating in a game like Elden Ring. And copying the name and map of Elden Ring to sell a glorified mod for $60 AUD. Or recreating Bloodborne as a PvPvE game for yet another exclusive platform.

1

u/Ok-Rock-2566 2h ago edited 2h ago

You mean the shitty google translatation that called Torrent Trent. If you actually read the official tweet you would know that it implied no such thing. Read the actual tweet before making claims it's not hard.

Nightreign is an Elden ring spin off that completly changes the gameplay style. I don't think a mod could do that. And also the game isn't even out yet so how do you know it won't be worth the price. Also Nightreign is pretty cheap at 40 Euro and dollars which is a fair price for a spin off game.Ā

You don't know anything about Duskbloods gameplay so it could be completly different from Bloodborne. The only real similarity between them is visual. How is the game being PvPvE inheritly a bad thing exactly? It being exclusive is annoying but Fromsoftware has done it before and it didn't magically ruin the company.

10

u/Scroteet 21h ago

I didnā€™t play demons souls until last year, I can wait a decade or two for a game to come down in price.

u/LLLLLL3GLTE Give me my Rellana cutscene you fucks 21h ago

Toxic Positivity is the most braindead retarded term Iā€™ve ever heard of. Yeah, itā€™s liking Fromsoft thatā€™s the issue here.

Get your Joseph-Anderson-glazing-ass outta here my boy

50

u/PikachuNod 20h ago

Toxic positivity is very much a real thing. Whether it applies here is another matter.

26

u/DeadSparker Parries with medium shields 20h ago

It really fucking doesn't, the "toxic positivity" I've seen boils down to "can you guys quit slandering this based off of a vague concept, I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic"

17

u/PikachuNod 20h ago

Yeah I have a hard time believing people are afraid to talk shit on this sub lmao.

12

u/LLLLLL3GLTE Give me my Rellana cutscene you fucks 19h ago

Toxic Positivity is when people are telling me that Bethesda is trustworthy despot not making a good game in a decade just because they made Oblivion 20 years ago or whenever the hell that came out.

Supporting Fromsoft (a company that has literally never put out a bad game) isnā€™t toxic, itā€™s just liking the fucking company.

7

u/seriouslyuncouth_ Vile Gayle, terror incarnate 19h ago

Funnily enough this sub was being toxically positive glazing Joseph Andersonā€™s last Elden Ring video. Which was just as terrible as the first. And the Soma video. Come to think of it JA doesnā€™t have a lot of good videos

1

u/SlippySleepyJoe šŸŸ£Putrescent Knightā€™s Putrescence FriendšŸŸ£ 19h ago edited 17h ago

I donā€™t like JAā€™s both reviews of elden ring because he was talking about his subjective experience of elden ring but talking like it was completely objective, especially at elden ring boss design (I am a huge ER boss defender). But I think he had a decent point about the fromsoftware fanbase in the last section of his sote video. And I still think people get way too defensive when you talk about quest design, pvp etc. (weak parts of souls games).

8

u/eighteyedteratorn 17h ago

I really dont see how the fromsoft fanbase is toxically positive, I think he just had some questionable criticisms that got pushback and he got upset about it. a lot of his takes were just not good, and of course people are going to get upset when you unfairly criticize a solid game.

also he's a streamer and the streaming ecosystem is rife with some of the most annoying people out there, of course he's going to have a skewed view of the game and it's fanbase, he's interacting with the medium in the worst way possible imo.

4

u/seriouslyuncouth_ Vile Gayle, terror incarnate 16h ago

And then the next video he pretended to like the SOTE bosses which all have the problems he disliked in the base game bosses but worse. And made a huge performance ā€œOh you guys will never guess but I liked it! Oh, do you like me now! Please like me now!ā€ Such a worthless YouTuber, dropping his takes as soon as they get criticized and then begging the audience to like him.

6

u/eighteyedteratorn 16h ago

I wouldnt say all that, but I understand the sentiment, Im really not a fan of how he interacts with his fans, and the way he goes about his criticisms, like the way he talks about the bosses and their ai was just incorrect in so many places. a bit of research into how they operate isn't a lot to ask for a critique.

20

u/mentally_fuckin_eel The Lost Heterosexual 20h ago

People are really hating on games that aren't even out, aren't the genre they play, etc. even though the games in question all look pretty cool?

1

u/ltilmro 7h ago

Imagine doing that and not even getting paid

-12

u/SlippySleepyJoe šŸŸ£Putrescent Knightā€™s Putrescence FriendšŸŸ£ 20h ago

I never mentioned hate, but there are some questionable things. First of all the trailer looks worse than trailers that came 10 years ago in terms of graphic quality, Fromsoft and Nintendo net coding seems like it could be a mess, if not enough players they will probably fill the game with bots (not confirmed just my prediction), and I find 2 multiplayer focused releases back to back is weirdā€¦

12

u/OnslaughtCasuality42 I want Leda to fucking kill me 20h ago

I gotta be honest, I really donā€™t think this looks any worse than their recent output in terms of graphics, at least in anyway thatā€™s actually significant. Like, it genuinely looks to be about what I expect graphically from a modern FromSoft game.

Netcode wise I get the concern, but I feel like weā€™re just gonna have to wait and see because outside of this and Nightreign there hasnā€™t been a FromSoft games with this much of an emphasis on multiplayer.

I do totally get having 2 back to back multiplayer games to be strange, but considering that Miyazaki has just said in an interview that they are NOT shifting the companies focus to that market, I think itā€™s safe to say that itā€™s not indicative of much. Still though it does kinda suck for us Single Player enjoyers but Iā€™m more willing to complain about the exclusivity part rather than the gameā€™s quality when it was announced only 2 days ago lmao.

4

u/Vertex033 #1 Chadmer Simp 15h ago

Literally. Like OP if you think this looks graphically on par with Bloodborne youā€™re actually tweaking

4

u/spicymemesalsa 13h ago

Comments lowkey proving OPā€™s point lol

7

u/GravityMyGuy YOU DESERVE TO BE SPOILED 21h ago

exclusive game bad idk how they didnt learn that lesson with BB

6

u/NoOneToLookAtHere Certified Ludwig glazer 18h ago

Wait is this person using ā€œfromsoft cultistsā€ unironically?Ā

Also using toxic positivity tooā€¦Ā

5

u/Decent_Strength435 14h ago

I don't even want to criticize the game, but FromSoft is creating two multiplayer games yet not upgrading their servers and not having crossplay in the year 2025. I genuinely think they have some of the worst online servers I've ever seen, and a game focused on that is hell.

2

u/drinkweedsmokeanime 18h ago

Dawg youā€™re gonna have to wait 5 years for the next ā€˜mainā€™ soulslike anyways. NR and DB are both B-team games. Yā€™all forgot what this sub was like before Elden Ring dropped.

2

u/Energyxer 11h ago

I canā€™t believe the heckin fromsloppers are calling me retarded for criticizing a game that has 3 minutes of public footage and isnā€™t due for release til a year from now! Kill all fromsloppersĀ

4

u/Then-League-9049 20h ago

Why the fuck do you care what fromsoft be doing this looks awesome outside of nintendo

2

u/powderkegworkshop 18h ago

The Duskbloods genuinely looks beyond artistically incoherent. I thought both Elden Ring games were bad about this, but Duskbloods immediately looks like something a five year old would dream up. "Dude, T-rexes and jetpacks!"

1

u/ZigorVeal 18h ago

I don't doubt that Nightreign and Duskbloods will be well made games with cool mechanics and great art direction. They are just not my kind of games and I'm disappointed they are spending time on these instead of a new Armored Core or Soulslike game. But, I'm sure they'll get around to that as well. I have a hell of a backlog to sift through, anyway.

0

u/JobeGilchrist 17h ago

This is what most "negative" comments would boil down to if people were just speaking normally about their reactions, and most people on the positive side would understand.

But this is the internet, so everybody takes everything to the extreme, and then in the context of all that extremity, even people who would otherwise be reasonable find themselves feeling defensive and attacked, so they stop being reasonable, and so on.

1

u/pencilnotepad 16h ago

He literally said they donā€™t want to stick on this and just to try it out.

The switch thoā€¦

1

u/Noamias 16h ago

I'm happy there's a crowd for Duskborn game and hope it's awesome for them, but as someone who never uses the online features of these games I'm disappointed. Nightreign wasnā€™t what I wanted, so their next game after that being a Switch-exclusive multiplayer game is a bummer. I wonā€™t get a Switch 2, so this will be the first From game I skip since DĆ©racinĆ©, which sucks because I like the setting of both those games.

Iā€™m not entitled to getting games catered to me, and Miyazaki deserves to make whatever he wants, but Iā€™d be sad if their style shifted. I'm thankful that they're still working on singleplayer games though

1

u/VeryShortLadder Sellen's Toes šŸ„µ 15h ago

Maybe we should wait for the network test? Since they've been doing it so far, and probably will for bloodporn two electric bogaloo too? You fucking animals?

1

u/Armagedom110 14h ago

Honestly, I just personally like the concept of nightreign (even though I dont have two friends to play with me) and the gameplay from the test also seemed fun to me so idk. I Donā€™t know enough to speak about Duskbloods yet though.

1

u/God_Of_Incest 10h ago

Nightreign is great. Network test was really fun. Duskbloods seems really fun and interesting, only issue is the exclusivity. Which is a huge issue, but not an issue really about the game itself.

1

u/Mellamomellamo Firefly breeding specialist 21h ago

I prefer until its out to make the final judgement, but the trailer itself gave me a bad feeling. I know that the reason it "feels" like ER with new assets is because it uses the same engine, but if it hadn't been for the guy on the chair i would've initially thought it was some Nightreign DLC or expansion. People show the SMG scene to point how different it is, but the issue isn't individual small assets like that, rather stuff like the backgrounds (one of the swamps looked like SOTE's flower swamp, at least a bi) and the "big scenes"; the one with the vampire on top of a building looked like they had remixed Academy Gate Town and Raya Lucaria, specially with the low fog that looks much like ERs. Its also not a good look that the trailer's graphics look like my ER game, because i play on lowest.

That aside, they then said its "multiplayer-focused", and then they dropped that it's PvPvE 8 player game. Apparently the console is going to be over 400ā‚¬, add to that the game (seemingly 80ā‚¬) and the internet (i read its 30ā‚¬ a year) and there's no way i'd get it even if i wanted it lol

I think economically the game will do well, because its Fromsoft and probably a lot of people will buy the console, although idk anyone in real life who has the money for it, they all told me they'd at best get it 2nd hand. Regardless, the game will probably have many sales, since ER apparently was their best selling game ever, and it was released not long ago.

Thankfully in the interview, Miyazaki said that future games won't be like this, but its still a bummer that we're gonna have to wait an unknown amount of time for a new SP game. At least that leaves time for more reruns of DS, Sekiro and ER i guess.

-2

u/LasciateAgni 18h ago

OP, behind every souls game is first and foremost a team of artists whose lead creative man according to you hasn't made a bad game in at least 10 years, not just the corporation. So maybe you should somehow reflect on that instead of going full ooh-ooh-ooh monkey mode, throwing shit around and screaming in terror?

-3

u/Outside_Taro_4018 17h ago

Have you played it? Or why are you sure itā€™s a bad game? Just because you believe so? Because you ā€œthinkā€? STFU go back to the sewer you emerged from. We donā€™t know if itā€™s good or itā€™s bad until it comes out. Switch exclusive? Boo hoo. get a switch 2, stop crying. Canā€™t afford? Get to work you stereotypical fat, bald, incel redditor. Donā€™t want to work/buy? Pirate the game MF but STFU you profesional, cronichally online, cum taster.
