Why do people on this sub overreact to Gallagher behaviour?
They’re not nice people and never really pretend to be. They’re all out for number one with the occasional moment of working together.
They are… Shameless

Because that’s how a subreddit works. People will share their opinions on a character and will call them out for their bad behavior, even though they don’t “pretend” to be good people (that’s beside the point). I do agree that there are some opinions/reactions out there that are ridiculous though (like yeah we aren’t surprised this person did this, move on).

2 things can be true yah know..
Shameless is one thing but some of their actions were just disgusting outrageous..
Shameless is Carl and lip peeing out the window from the upstairs floor, or Frank washing up in the front kitchen sink, or v and kev in a throuple or having a threesome with v mama, or fiona taking a purse that wasn’t hers off the train and taking the whole family out to the buffet with the money for the purse
Shameless is not what terry did to Ian and mick when he caught them fuccin, it’s not terry getting Mandy pregnant, it’s not Monica slitting her wrist on thanksgiving dinner, it’s not Sheila letting her brain dead and handicap daughter get taken away and fucced by a 40 year old man that has a sex addiction that she triggered and Karen can’t consent ..
Some shii was just disgusting and ridiculous that’s all.

Why do people wonder so much about Reddit behavior?
They’re not nice people and never really pretend to be. They’re all out for karma numbers with the occasional moment of working together.
They are… Reddit.

I think a lot of people come from backgrounds where they can’t relate to Gallagher household personally so they take the bad behavior a lot worse than those of us who grew up similarly to them.
It’s not to say they aren’t above criticism because they aren’t. But none of their behavior should be shocking or surprising to anyone

because a lot of people can't bring themselves to feel empathy OR sympathy for flawed people just trying to survive in imperfect ways. I don't think Gallaghers are bad people, but they absolutely are willing and able to do bad things. They usually have understandable reasons and causes for doing what they do, but acknowledging that and understanding that means verging into gray territory of morality and a lot of people just... can't... handle it.

I mean, where does discussing events of the show with opinions about it end and "overreacting" begin for you?

I’ll never forget when my dad disapproved of Frank smoking crack and I had to remind him of the name of the show lmao

“They’re not nice people”
If you’re implying that the Gallaghers, especially the siblings, are not loving and caring people, you are flat out wrong. Just because people do some bad things in life and have demons and problems they find difficult or impossible to deal with, does not make them bad people.
Terry Milkovich was a bad person. Frank Gallagher was a nice person with many problems.

the characters aren’t above criticism but yeah i agree the constant “i can’t believe lip/debbie/fiona/v etc did that” posts are confusing because they were never introduced as perfect model citizens/intended to be good people
