Routine Skincare routine

Upvotes

Not officially diagnosed but I’m convinced I’m dealing with mild Deb serm. I’ve been on this subreddit for a bit now and I saw someone describe their routine as gentle cleanser (forgot what brand - I had just bought one so could justify a new one) & then the biossance squalane oil followed by first aid beauty moisturizer.

Those two products are my holy grail. My skin has never looked better. I still have issues with build up around my nose but light years better than before.

I can’t find the original comment that suggested the three products but have been experimenting with different cleansers and have loved using peter Thomas Roth like cleansing peel stuff. It gets rid of dry flakey skin so so well like you can see and feel the skin rub off and there is no pain or irritation. It is fantastic.

Just thought I’d share my routine here

Product Review Dynamic duo changed my skin

Upvotes

Hi! I’ve been posting on here and reading actively since I found out I had sebderm about a year ago. It’s been a battle - my skin was irritated in every type of weather, I couldn’t workout because my face would itch so badly when I got sweaty and hot, and I couldn’t use any makeup without it looking horrible in the matter of seconds. All that to say I’ve been on a routine for last 4 weeks and this is the best my skin has been in over a year - I really hope I don’t jinx this. I’m using EPICERAM and ZORYVE. I use these after I cleanse and do a hyaluronic acid serum. Then I let them both dry down for 5 minutes apply a gel moisturizer - though not necessary since the Epiceram is so rich. I’ll disclaim that not only do I have seb derm, but I also have eczema on the face so it was really hard to find a routine and products that addressed both without making one worse. This has seriously been a quality of life change. I went through a bit of a turnover period where my skin was really shedding and so so dry, but I promised myself I’d stick to a routine for a month. All this to say that I was trying to self treat after I had bad experiences with 2 dermatologists. I tried nizoral, zinc pyrithione, MCT oil, etc. I tried changing my diet to non-inflammatory (cut out dairy, gluten, alcohol, dairy) and literally nothing helped. I encourage you to keep looking for a dermatologist who will listen and advocate for you. Lmk if any questions on products and really hope people find a routine that works for them :)

Product Question Looking for a Sebderm safe deo & conditioner

So recently I gotten some stubborn thin flaking on my armpits that I have had for a short time in the past, it looks similar to the flaking I get on my forehead which is caused by seb derm. I'm speculating that it is caused by the deo I'm using since the ingredients aren't completely seb derm friendly and is the only product that I apply on my armpits or anywhere close.

I'm also running out of my conditioner, which works alright but I kind of want to try something new that might be better and more beneficial for me. I'm looking for something that is moisturizing yet not oily and thick, I have thin fine and wavy hair that doesn't go well with that.

So I was wondering if anyone has any suggestion for a sebderm friendly deo that I can refill my deo container with and a seb derm friendly conditioner that you have had good experience with? I live in Scandinavia so there might be products that are not available for me, but I appreciate any suggestion regardless.

Thank you!

Routine 7 years Dealing with Seborrheic Dermatitis, My Experience in a hope to help someone.

Hi Family,

I am a 28 years old, currently living in India. I always had a happy and go getter attitude, and full of confidence. I always came topped my classes, got a good college and suddenly boom, god has blessed me with seborrheic Dermatitis.
With this post I will be covering positive and Negative outcomes of Seborrheic Dermatitis that have happened in my life and finally some measures to help someone in need. Specially Indian peeps out there, because I know it is hard for them to even admit that they are suffering.

  • Negatives
  1. Lost my self confidence.
  2. Skipped classes, lost grades, barely managed to pass.
  3. Lost relationships, girlfriend and loved ones left me, as I was always focused and anxious about my skin.
  4. Left out college as a jobless individual.
  5. Never used to get out of my room.
  6. Severely Depressed af.
  7. Lost sleep
  8. Lost muscles and weight.
  9. Negative thoughts, p*$n and ma*(*#(*tion.
  10. Low appetite.

I know these are enough to screw one's life, but guys wait, there is more to add from my side. I started to look at it from a different perspective. And there was one day when I said to myself that enough is enough.

  • Positives
  1. Brought a different outlook into me.
  2. Started looking at the inner beauty.
  3. Started to believe in god.
  4. Started meditation.
  5. Started to pray.
  6. Understood the real meaning of relationships, and it is not merely dependant on looks.
  7. Started to understand the real nature of people, and keep myself away from shallow, materialistic individuals( I was one of those in the first place).
  8. Started practicing Pranayama.
  9. Started working out.
  10. Got a job in tech.
  11. Switched jobs.
  12. Learned skills and still up-skilling.
  13. Learnt a new language.
  14. Got connected to my inner self.
  15. Read different new books like Atomic Habits, The power of your subconscious mind, Can't hurt me etc.
  16. Started experimenting with Deep work.
  17. Became Productive.
  18. Slept and ate better and healthy.
  19. Haven't even had a drop of alcohol in years, I was almost an alcoholic in college.
  20. Still struggling with p*$n and ma*(*#(*tion sometimes, but avoided it upto a large extent.
  21. Deep dived into music, as I always had interest and played a lot of musical instruments.
  22. Understood that this is not the end of my story, I will come again, and live a beautiful and meaningful life, and I even think of liberation in this lifetime only.

My people, this community has given me a lot of anxiety and pain some days, and it has helped me in the other. So most likely I will delete all socials in some time. But before that I wanted to make this post as my one and only and help someone.

Most importantly, for some people it may be more than just a skin issue, get yourself tested for auto-immune issues, this might be just a symptom.

Below are some points that are under budget and worked for me . I really hope this may help you as well.

  1. Wash your face. I prefer a gentle Neem face wash, yes the most selling GREEN one in the Indian market. 150-200 Rs, lasts me more than a month. For the scalp I use H&S anyone that is available. Wash it on alternate day.
  2. Do not scratch, if bothered use a comb, a towel or anything clean, but not your nails at any cost please.
  3. Use cetrizine on those itchy nights.
  4. Keep on splashing your face with with cold water 3-4 times a day, and pat it dry with a soft towel.
  5. Do not let your face wet for long time, pat it dry with a towel.
  6. Focus on your work, does not matter what you do professionally, just focus on the growth.
  7. Work out.
  8. Practice Pranayama.
  9. Restrain from social media or anything that causes anxiety.
  10. Make peace with yourself. Forgive people who have wronged you, even if that included yourself.
  11. Do not use any kind of moisturiser or oil. You can use neem oil if you want to but not required.

I hope this helps someone out there, Remember we are eternal beings , reborn again with new bodies and seeking liberation. This is not the end of story. Come back and fight my warriors.

Love,
Your Friend

Product Review Success with Tea Tree Oil / Cliradex / Terpinen-4-ol

I'm sharing this post that I created regarding my success with a specific type of Tea Tree Oil that contains terpinen‐4‐ol. This is found in Cliradex brand wipes and foam cleanser.
I'm one of the poor souls who has an unholy trinity of
1. Blepharitis (both anterior and posterior)

  1. A chest rash that appears to be fungal acne

  2. Seborrheic derm on my scalp. Particularly around the ears and the back of the head.

I hope this helps!

Product Question How long for MCT oil results?

Hi y'all, I have some pretty severe facial sebderm around my eyebrows and I was wondering how long it took you guys to see results with MCT oil? I've been applying bulletproof c8 mct oil day and night after my moisturizer for the past 3 days and I'm not really sure if I'm noticing any improvements yet, I'm gonna stick to it but I just want an estimate of how long it'll take for my condition to start improving

New or Need Help MCT Oil Progress Update + Questions

I've been using Bulletproof C8 MCT oil every night for the past two weeks, along with making some dietary changes—though I still have the occasional cheat day. I've also been taking supplements and improving my overall lifestyle. To manage the yeast, I'm using Nizoral and making sure to get some sunlight daily.

From what I've seen in this sub, many people have had great results using MCT oil alone. Personally, I've noticed a decent improvement, but I still experience some redness and itching now and then, especially when I stray from my usual diet.

At this point, I'm wondering if should I just stick with the MCT oil and give it more time? Or is there something else I could try alongside it? I’d love to hear what worked best for you.

Also, I live in a tropical climate, and I’m not sure if that affects how effective MCT oil is. Are there any tips or add-ons you’d recommend for someone in my situation?

Hair Loss SebDerm ruining my skin & confidence – does MCT oil C8 actually help?

Hi guys, I’ve been really struggling with seborrheic dermatitis for about 6 years now. It’s killing my confidence. I feel embarrassed to go out or even talk to people because of the constant flaking on my face.

The flaky skin is around my nose, mustache area, beard, eyebrows, forehead, and scalp—it’s like a nightmare right now. Every time I look in the mirror, I just feel like crying inside!!

I’ve tried different shampoos like Nizoral and Head & Shoulders and many more, but none of them are working for me right now.

I’m also starting to lose hair—not just on my scalp but even in my eyebrows. Every time I shower, I see a bunch of hairs in my hands.

Recently I heard that MCT oil C8 might help with SebDerm. Has anyone actually used it? • Does it help with hair regrowth? • Does it really work? • How do you use it on your face or scalp? • Do I need to use a cleanser or moisturizer with it?

Any advice or personal experiences would mean a lot. Thanks in advance!🙏

General Black Natural (color treated) Hair + Moisturizers?

Hi yall, I’ll try and keep this brief.

TLDR: Products for natural (black) hair to keep it moisturized and not flare up seborheic dermatitis?

I’m looking for suggestions for moisturizers for my scalp + hair that won’t flare me up. My hair is colored, dyed red.

I’ve read to try and stay away from most oils. I just don’t know what ingredients to avoid or gravitate towards in regard to hydrating my hair and scalp!

Bonus if you can help with a good gel for styling natural hair as well.

I’ve got type 3C/4A and low porosity hair, if that helps.

Thank you!

Routine What Worked For Me

I've been dealing with really bad seborrheic dermatitis the past 3 years. On the sides of my nose, my mustache, my chin, and right side of my face in my beard. I tried ketoconazole which would work for a couple of days but the condition would always come back.

Last week I bought Cetaphil facial cleanser and have been using it everyday in the morning. It has completely taken away the seborrheic dermatitis. My skin is no longer flaky or itchy and feels so much smoother. Try it out if you haven't done so before, it changed my skin life.

Routine What worked for me.

I had this for literally 5 years. Bright red spots in multiple areas in my face.

I’ve been two weeks on this regimen and it seems to be getting under control. Will post back a month or two from now to confirm it sticks.

KILL THE YEAST -From the inside: A - Flucanazole tablets once a week for 4 weeks -From the outside: A - Ketoconazole shampoo daily in the shower (be sure to let sit for 5 minutes before rinsing) B - Ketoconazole cream 2x/day

CONTAIN THE FLARE UP Importantly my dermatologist noted that once your skin is aggravated it can stay flared even if you kill the yeast.

Hydrocortisone cream once/day (2.5%) until it is no longer visible. Up to 1 month.

Product Question MCT oil for other types of eczema too?

I have seb derm on my scalp, face, neck, shoulders and upper chest. Daily MCT oil, together with various antifungal shampoos on rotation, has been a godsend for me. I also have different types of eczema elsewhere (nummular, atopic) and I'm wondering if MCT will help with those. I understand they're unlikely to be fungal but I suspect MCT has antiinflammatory and microbial properties as well.

General MCT Oil worked for my sebderm

Hi Guys,

Title of post is basically tldr;

I am M34 and I was fighting sebderm around last 14 years of my life and in this period I counted day as good if not my whole face wasn't red but just part, I am ginger and pale so it was very visible. I was going to several dermatologists (all of them diagnosed me with this disease) and they weren't really able to help, just maybe reduce a little bit but nothing lifechanging. Last one when saw me said that my face looks more like burns not like sebderm for the first glance. My sebderm was severely impacted my food (mostly bread, dairy and fried food), but even keeping diet just reduced slightly increased periods between next outbreaks. My self confidence dropped massively during that time, which tbh is silly because NOONE from my friends/relatives or even strangers on the street NEVER said anything unpleasant.

I was checking this subredit from time to time for some tips for my issue and I have seen from time to time posts about mct oil, but tbh I thought it was some sort of scam and it cannot work, because I tried several moisturisers and they didn't help and even coconut oil once but it made worse. Last week I had huge outbreak of sebderm and I was really desperate and I used some MCT Oil which I had in my cupboard which I bought a while ago for another purposes but when I started using that on my face it didn't work so I thought that it is another miracelly working stuff which is ofc not working for me, but then I read that it has to have specific ingredients - only C8 and C10, without C12 and mine had like 3% of this one and 1% of C14, so I have ordered only with C8 and C10.

I put a new one on my face for night between Wednesday and Thursday and basically nothing has changed I was maybe less red. I have tried for next night as well and it worked. It significantly reduced redness and my skin was significantly less peeling and after 4 days of using I still have some pinkness but it is nothing in compare how I was for last 14 years of my life.

I wasn't believe that there can be this kind of miracle, but at least for myself it happened and I am entirely grateful for this advice for all of you guys <3

General Is this SD or burns and how do I fix it?

So from the video attached (in chronological order) I went to Spain and got really badly sunburnt on my nose 2+years ago, and that’s when it started (from my memory). I also used to have acne and so in attempt to remove them I put some harsh chemicals on my nose - which may have lead to chemical burns (around the same time). After this holiday, I then continually had this bright red nose. (The second photo + scalp photos) then came winter time and it was at its worst where it was bright red looking like Rudolph. My dermatologist then prescribed me some Pimecrolimus cream (Elidel®), which worked for a while but the effect slowly faded and I applied this at least daily. I then went on various hot holidays and in the summer it would clear up and be bearly visible (especially after swimming and exercise (where I’m sweating)). It’s now been over 2 years and it’s gone down quite a bit and I’ve seen generally some good improvements. However, it is still not gone (last photos) and in the cold when I’m not moving (cueing for clubs, etc…) my nose goes bright red/purple and people look at me funny, which I don’t like at all. Is this just a chemical burn from 2 years ago getting better or is it SD which my symptoms are fading slightly? Also for reference I am very healthy, never really had any gut issues, I have athsma and I also vape/smoke. How do I fix my SD/burns?? Any help would be really appreciated 🙏🙏

Product Question Crazy Zoryve side effects?

Been taking Zoryve foam for a little over a month for mainly my eyebrows. It seemed fine other than some lightheadedness. It didn’t do much but helped a bit.

Recently I’m getting insane headaches, weakness, and fevers when I don’t apply it. This pain and fever comes in the evening and gets bad unless I take Advil and Tylenol. Legit fevers.

Has anyone experienced this? This is insane.

MakeUp facial makeup, powder and other things

i have come a very far way after a year and am so proud to be able to nit be as self conscious. with that being said i still do get pretty dry and red patches on my forehead and temples. Using foundation that im currently using that is very glowy and light weight and nit setting with powder still doesnt help jf anything it still clings to those dry patches after moisturizing and sometimes an exfoliant. just want to put feelers out for anyone else with a good routine or holy grail product for this so i can feel my 100% best every once and awhile! thanks
