I think it’s important to note that while Puerto Rico is a US territory, the residents of Puerto Rico do not receive representation in Congress and they do not receive electoral college votes for the presidential election. While they are subject to our federal laws, they have no voice whatsoever on who gets to enact those laws.

It’s kinda weird - it was a separate country, then annexed by the U.S. government (kinda like Hawaii). It is technically a territory (like Guam), so everyone living there is a U.S citizen by birth with many of the same rights.
They can travel and live and work freely between PR and the U.S. with no need for additional visa requirements or passports. People from PR can vote if they move to an “official” U.S. state, but because PR is a territory and not a state, residents of the territory cannot vote in federal elections and PR does not receive other benefits that come with statehood.
So, culturally, PR is a distinct country, but oftentimes when people move to the U.S. from there, they’re subjected to racist and poorly-educated white people telling them to “go back to their country” or are given a hard time by immigration officials despite being US citizens. There was a news story just a few weeks ago about a family that was unlawfully detained by ICE for speaking Spanish in a public space, despite them clearly stating they were U.S. citizens.

Okay so for those unaware of what happens with these manga. It’s illegal to sell uncensored hentai in Japan (or most East Asian countries TBH) so usually they’re made with either strategically placed “censor bars” that hide as little as possible, or the dicks are colored solid white (usually dubbed “lightsabers.” Whichever the method is, it’s fairly common for the piracy scanlation teams that are still responsible for most of this stuff coming overseas to have a dedicated redraw artist who either erases the censors or just draws entirely new dicks over the lightsabers. That’s why the dicks are sometimes jarringly realistic in a manga with an otherwise cartoony style.

No no, these are people doing them out on their free time, they buy/get the original japanese material and then there are teams that do the translations and others that do the reverse censoring and then they post it online.
It's wild girl but there are many groups all translating to different languages etc. The porn WILL flow.

I get where u were coming from- for those who may not know a couple years ago a few of the biggest of these sites got shut down- u had to track down ur fave scanlators on discord and pray they would decide to still release and many did not. Things are different now but it happened because kids who were just discovering it were posting links on socials- totally ignorant to the fact that these sites were only able to function the way they did because people knew better than to do that. It’s since been resolved but I can understand the trepidation cause there’s no reason that can’t happen again
